The Revelation of Jesus in Joseph

The following was transcribed from a Tiktok video Toms Lee shared and edited with more scriptural references.   

The awesome similarities between Joseph and Jesus:

1. Joseph was the beloved Son of his father (Gen. 37.3). Jesus is the Beloved son of Heavenly Father. (Mt.3:17)
2. Joseph’s brothers plotted to kill Joseph (Gen. 37:18-20) while the Jews also plotted to kill Jesus (Mt.12:14)
3. Joseph was betrayed by his Jewish brothers as he was handed over to the Gentiles for slavery (Gen.37:25-28), and Jesus was also betrayed by the Jews and was handed over to the Gentiles to be crucified (Luke 18:32, Mt.20:18).
4. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brother Judah for 20 shekels of silver (Gen. 37:26-27) while Jesus was betrayed by his disciples Judas for 30 shekels of silver (Mt.26:15, 27:3).
5. Two prisoners were with Joseph in prison (Gen.40:1-4) while two thieves hung with Jesus on the cross (Mt.27:38).
6. One of the prisoners that were with Joseph lived (Gen.40:21) just as one of the thieves on the cross with Jesus receive eternal life (Luke 23:39-43).
7. Joseph was in prison with a cupbearer and a baker (Gen.40:2). Jesus was seen at the Last Supper with the bread and the wine (Mt.26:26-28).
8. Joseph asked the cupbearer to remember him when he is freed (Gen.40:14). Jesus commands his disciples to do this in remembrance of Him (Luke 22:19).
9. Joseph dispersed bread to a perishing world (Gen. 41:55,56) while Jesus came down as the Bread to save the world (John 6:48-57).
10. Joseph was not recognized by his brothers upon their first coming to Egypt (Gen. 42:6-8) neither was Jesus recognized by the Jews at His first coming to Israel (Mark 6:2)
11. Joseph was revealed to his brothers after his second coming (Gen.45:1-5) just as Jesus will be revealed to the Jews at His second coming (Mt.24:30,31; Rev. 1:7).
12. Joseph was used by God to save the world from famine (Gen.50:20) and Jesus came to save the world from eternal judgment (Jh.3:16).

The God who saved the Israelites in the Old Testament is the same God who comes to save the world in the New Testament.
