Deut.29.1

These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

Deut.29.1

These are the terms of the Covenant that GOD commanded Moses to make with the People of Israel in the land of Moab, renewing the Covenant he made with them at Horeb.

These are the terms of the covenant the LORD commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in Moab, in addition to the covenant he had made with them at Horeb.

These are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which He made with them in Horeb.

These are the terms of the covenant the LORD commanded Moses to make with the Israelites while they were in the land of Moab, in addition to the covenant he had made with them at Mount Sinai.

Deut.29.2

And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;

Deut.29.2

Moses called all Israel together and said, You've seen with your own eyes everything that GOD did in Egypt to Pharaoh and his servants, and to the land itself--

Deut.29.2

Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them: Your eyes have seen all that the LORD did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials and to all his land.

Deut.29.2

Now Moses called all Israel and said to them: "You have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land--

Deut.29.2

Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them, "You have seen with your own eyes everything the LORD did in Egypt to Pharaoh and all his servants and his whole country--

Deut.29.3

The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:

Deut.29.3

the massive trials to which you were eyewitnesses, the great signs and miracle-wonders.

Deut.29.3

With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those miraculous signs and great wonders.

Deut.29.3

the great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders.

Deut.29.3

all the great tests of strength, the miraculous signs, and the amazing wonders.

Deut.29.4

Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.

But GOD didn't give you an understanding heart or perceptive eyes or attentive ears until right now, this very day.

Deut.29.4

But to this day the LORD has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear.

Deut.29.4

Yet the LORD has not given you a heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear, to this very day.

Deut.29.4

But to this day the LORD has not given you minds that understand, nor eyes that see, nor ears that hear!

Deut.29.5

And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.

Deut.29.5

I took you through the wilderness for forty years and through all that time the clothes on your backs didn't wear out, the sandals on your feet didn't wear out,

During the forty years that I led you through the desert, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.

And I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn out on your feet.

Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.

Deut.29.6

and you lived well without bread and wine and beer, proving to you that I am in fact GOD, your God.

Deut.29.6

You ate no bread and drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know that I am the LORD your God.

You have not eaten bread, nor have you drunk wine or similar drink, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.

Deut.29.6

You had no bread or wine or other strong drink, but he gave you food so you would know that he is the LORD your God.

And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:

Deut.29.7

When you arrived here in this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan met us primed for war but we beat them.

Deut.29.7

When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out to fight against us, but we defeated them.

And when you came to this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out against us to battle, and we conquered them.

And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,

You are all standing here today in the Presence of GOD, your God--the heads of your tribes, your leaders, your officials, all Israel:

All of you are standing today in the presence of the LORD your God-your leaders and chief men, your elders and officials, and all the other men of Israel,

"All of you stand today before the LORD your God: your leaders and your tribes and your elders and your officers, all the men of Israel,

All of you--your tribal leaders, your judges, your officers, all the men of Israel--are standing today before the LORD your God.

Deut.29.11

Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:

Deut.29.11

your babies, your wives, the resident foreigners in your camps who fetch your firewood and water

Deut.29.11

together with your children and your wives, and the aliens living in your camps who chop your wood and carry your water.

your little ones and your wives--also the stranger who is in your camp, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water--

Deut.29.11

With you are your little ones, your wives, and the foreigners living among you who chop your wood and carry your water.

Deut.29.12

That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:

-ready to cross over into the solemnly sworn Covenant that GOD, your God, is making with you today,

You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the LORD your God, a covenant the LORD is making with you this day and sealing with an oath,

that you may enter into covenant with the LORD your God, and into His oath, which the LORD your God makes with you today,

You are standing here today to enter into a covenant with the LORD your God. The LORD is making this covenant with you today, and he has sealed it with an oath.

Deut.29.13

That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

the Covenant that this day confirms that you are his people and he is GOD, your God, just as he promised you and your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

to confirm you this day as his people, that he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Deut.29.13

that He may establish you today as a people for Himself, and that He may be God to you, just as He has spoken to you, and just as He has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Deut.29.13

He wants to confirm you today as his people and to confirm that he is your God, just as he promised you, and as he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Deut.29.14

Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;

Deut.29.14

I'm not making this Covenant and its oath with you alone.

Deut.29.14

I am making this covenant, with its oath, not only with you

Deut.29.14

"I make this covenant and this oath, not with you alone,

Deut.29.14

But you are not the only ones with whom the LORD is making this covenant with its obligations.

Deut.29.15

But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:

Deut.29.15

I am making it with you who are standing here today in the Presence of GOD, our God, yes, but also with those who are not here today.

Deut.29.15

who are standing here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God but also with those who are not here today.

Deut.29.15

but with him who stands here with us today before the LORD our God, as well as with him who is not here with us today

Deut.29.15

The LORD your God is making this covenant with you who stand in his presence today and also with all future generations of Israel.

Deut.29.16

(For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;

Deut.29.16

You know the conditions in which we lived in Egypt and how we crisscrossed through nations in our travels.

Deut.29.16

You yourselves know how we lived in Egypt and how we passed through the countries on the way here.

Deut.29.16

(for you know that we dwelt in the land of Egypt and that we came through the nations which you passed by,

Deut.29.16

"Surely you remember how we lived in the land of Egypt and how we traveled through the lands of enemy nations as we left.

Deut.29.17

And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)

Deut.29.17

You got an eyeful of their obscenities, their wood and stone, silver and gold junk-gods.

Deut.29.17

You saw among them their detestable images and idols of wood and stone, of silver and gold.

Deut.29.17

and you saw their abominations and their idols which were among them--wood and stone and silver and gold);

Deut.29.17

You have seen their detestable idols made of wood, stone, silver, and gold.

Deut.29.18

Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;

Deut.29.18

Don't let down your guard lest even now, today, someone--man or woman, clan or tribe--gets sidetracked from GOD, our God, and gets involved with the no-gods of the nations; lest some poisonous weed sprout and spread among you,

Deut.29.18

Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.

Deut.29.18

so that there may not be among you man or woman or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations, and that there may not be among you a root bearing bitterness or wormwood;

Deut.29.18

The LORD made this covenant with you so that no man, woman, family, or tribe among you would turn away from the LORD our God to worship these gods of other nations, and so that no root among you would bear bitter and poisonous fruit.

Deut.29.19

And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

Deut.29.19

a person who hears the words of the Covenant-oath but exempts himself, thinking, "I'll live just the way I please, thank you," and ends up ruining life for everybody.

Deut.29.19

When such a person hears the words of this oath, he invokes a blessing on himself and therefore thinks, "I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way." This will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry.

Deut.29.19

and so it may not happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, "I shall have peace, even though I follow the dictates of my heart'--as though the drunkard could be included with the sober.

Deut.29.19

Let none of those who hear the warnings of this curse consider themselves immune, thinking, `I am safe, even though I am walking in my own stubborn way.' This would lead to utter ruin!

Deut.29.20

The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.

Deut.29.20

GOD won't let him off the hook. GOD's anger and jealousy will erupt like a volcano against that person. The curses written in this book will bury him. GOD will delete his name from the records.

Deut.29.20

The LORD will never be willing to forgive him; his wrath and zeal will burn against that man. All the curses written in this book will fall upon him, and the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven.

Deut.29.20

"The LORD would not spare him; for then the anger of the LORD and His jealousy would burn against that man, and every curse that is written in this book would settle on him, and the LORD would blot out his name from under heaven.

Deut.29.20

The LORD will not pardon such people. His anger and jealousy will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will come down on them, and the LORD will erase their names from under heaven.

Deut.29.21

And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:

Deut.29.21

GOD will separate him out from all the tribes of Israel for special punishment, according to all the curses of the Covenant written in this Book of Revelation.

Deut.29.21

The LORD will single him out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.

Deut.29.21

And the LORD would separate him from all the tribes of Israel for adversity, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this Book of the Law,

Deut.29.21

The LORD will separate them from all the tribes of Israel, to pour out on them all the covenant curses recorded in this Book of the Law.

Deut.29.22

So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;

Deut.29.22

The next generation, your children who come after you and the foreigner who comes from a far country, will be appalled when they see the widespread devastation, how GOD made the whole land sick.

Deut.29.22

Your children who follow you in later generations and foreigners who come from distant lands will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the LORD has afflicted it.

Deut.29.22

so that the coming generation of your children who rise up after you, and the foreigner who comes from a far land, would say, when they see the plagues of that land and the sicknesses which the LORD has laid on it:

Deut.29.22

"Then the generations to come, both your own descendants and the foreigners who come from distant lands, will see the devastation of the land and the diseases the LORD will send against it.

Deut.29.23

And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

Deut.29.23

They'll see a fire-blackened wasteland of brimstone and salt flats, nothing planted, nothing growing, not so much as a blade of grass anywhere--like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which GOD overthrew in fiery rage.

Deut.29.23

The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur-nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in fierce anger.

Deut.29.23

"The whole land is brimstone, salt, and burning; it is not sown, nor does it bear, nor does any grass grow there, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in His anger and His wrath.'

Deut.29.23

They will find its soil turned into sulfur and salt, with nothing planted and nothing growing, not even a blade of grass. It will be just like Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD destroyed in his anger.

Deut.29.24

Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?

Deut.29.24

All the nations will ask, "Why did GOD do this to this country? What on earth could have made him this angry?"

Deut.29.24

All the nations will ask: "Why has the LORD done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?"

Deut.29.24

All nations would say, "Why has the LORD done so to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?'

Deut.29.24

The surrounding nations will ask, `Why has the LORD done this to his land? Why was he so angry?'

Deut.29.25

Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:

Deut.29.25

Your children will answer, "Because they abandoned the Covenant of the GOD of their ancestors that he made with them after he got them out of Egypt;

Deut.29.25

And the answer will be: "It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.

Deut.29.25

Then people would say: "Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt;

Deut.29.25

"And they will be told, `This happened because the people of the land broke the covenant they made with the LORD, the God of their ancestors, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

Deut.29.26

For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:

Deut.29.26

they went off and worshiped other gods, submitted to gods they'd never heard of before, gods they had no business dealing with.

Deut.29.26

They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them.

Deut.29.26

for they went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they did not know and that He had not given to them.

Deut.29.26

They turned to serve and worship other gods that were foreign to them, gods that the LORD had not designated for them.

Deut.29.27

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:

Deut.29.27

So GOD's anger erupted against that land and all the curses written in this book came down on it.

Deut.29.27

Therefore the LORD's anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book.

Deut.29.27

Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against this land, to bring on it every curse that is written in this book.

Deut.29.27

That is why the LORD's anger burned against this land, bringing down on it all the curses recorded in this book.

Deut.29.28

And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

Deut.29.28

GOD, furiously angry, pulled them, roots and all, out of their land and dumped them in another country, as you can see."

Deut.29.28

In furious anger and in great wrath the LORD uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now."

Deut.29.28

And the LORD uprooted them from their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.'

Deut.29.28

In great anger and fury the LORD uprooted his people from their land and exiled them to another land, where they still live today!'

Deut.29.29

The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Deut.29.29

GOD, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation.
