John.10.1
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
John.10.1
"Let me set this before you as plainly as I can. If a person climbs over or through the fence of a sheep pen instead of going through the gate, you know he's up to no good--a sheep rustler!
John.10.1
"I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.
John.10.1
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
John.10.1
"I assure you, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber!
John.10.2
But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
John.10.2
The shepherd walks right up to the gate.
John.10.2
The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep.
John.10.2
But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
John.10.2
For a shepherd enters through the gate.

John.10.3
The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
John.10.4
And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
John.10.4
When he gets them all out, he leads them and they follow because they are familiar with his voice.
John.10.4
When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
John.10.4
And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
John.10.4
After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they recognize his voice.
John.10.5
And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
John.10.5
They won't follow a stranger's voice but will scatter because they aren't used to the sound of it."
John.10.5
But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."
John.10.5
Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers."
John.10.5
They won't follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don't recognize his voice."
John.10.6
This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
John.10.6
Jesus told this simple story, but they had no idea what he was talking about.
John.10.6
Jesus used this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them.
John.10.6
Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.
John.10.6
Those who heard Jesus use this illustration didn't understand what he meant,
John.10.7
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
John.10.7
So he tried again. "I'll be explicit, then. I am the Gate for the sheep.
John.10.7
Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.
John.10.7
Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
John.10.7
so he explained it to them. "I assure you, I am the gate for the sheep," he said.
John.10.8
All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
John.10.8
All those others are up to no good--sheep stealers, every one of them. But the sheep didn't listen to them.
John.10.8
All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.
John.10.8
All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.
John.10.8
"All others who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them.
John.10.9
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
John.10.9
I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for--will freely go in and out, and find pasture.
John.10.9
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.
John.10.9
I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
John.10.9
Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. Wherever they go, they will find green pastures.
John.10.10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John.10.10
A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
John.10.10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John.10.10
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
John.10.10
The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.
John.10.11
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
John.10.11
"I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd puts the sheep before himself, sacrifices himself if necessary.
John.10.11
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
John.10.11
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
John.10.11
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
John.10.12
But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
John.10.12
A hired man is not a real shepherd. The sheep mean nothing to him. He sees a wolf come and runs for it, leaving the sheep to be ravaged and scattered by the wolf.
John.10.12
The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.
John.10.12
But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.
John.10.12
A hired hand will run when he sees a wolf coming. He will leave the sheep because they aren't his and he isn't their shepherd. And so the wolf attacks them and scatters the flock.
John.10.13
The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
John.10.13
He's only in it for the money. The sheep don't matter to him.
John.10.13
The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
John.10.13
The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep.
John.10.13
The hired hand runs away because he is merely hired and has no real concern for the sheep.
John.10.14
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
John.10.14
"I am the Good Shepherd. I know my own sheep and my own sheep know me.
John.10.14
"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me--
John.10.14
I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.
John.10.14
"I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me,
John.10.15
As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
John.10.15
In the same way, the Father knows me and I know the Father. I put the sheep before myself, sacrificing myself if necessary.
John.10.15
just as the Father knows me and I know the Father--and I lay down my life for the sheep.
John.10.15
As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
John.10.15
just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep.
John.10.16
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
John.10.16
You need to know that I have other sheep in addition to those in this pen. I need to gather and bring them, too. They'll also recognize my voice. Then it will be one flock, one Shepherd.
John.10.16
I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
John.10.16
And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.
John.10.16
I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice; and there will be one flock with one shepherd.
John.10.17
Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
John.10.17
This is why the Father loves me: because I freely lay down my life. And so I am free to take it up again.
John.10.17
The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life--only to take it up again.
John.10.17
"Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.
John.10.17
"The Father loves me because I lay down my life that I may have it back again.
John.10.18
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
John.10.18
No one takes it from me. I lay it down of my own free will. I have the right to lay it down; I also have the right to take it up again. I received this authority personally from my Father."
John.10.18
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father."
John.10.18
No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father."
John.10.18
No one can take my life from me. I lay down my life voluntarily. For I have the right to lay it down when I want to and also the power to take it again. For my Father has given me this command."
John.10.19
There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.

John.10.20
And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
John.10.20
A lot of them were saying, "He's crazy, a maniac--out of his head completely. Why bother listening to him?"
John.10.20
Many of them said, "He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?"
John.10.20
And many of them said, "He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?"
John.10.20
Some of them said, "He has a demon, or he's crazy. Why listen to a man like that?"
John.10.21
Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
John.10.21
But others weren't so sure: "These aren't the words of a crazy man. Can a "maniac' open blind eyes?" [JC]
John.10.21
But others said, "These are not the sayings of a man possessed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"
John.10.21
Others said, "These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"
John.10.21
Others said, "This doesn't sound like a man possessed by a demon! Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"
John.10.22
And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
John.10.22
They were celebrating Hanukkah just then in Jerusalem. It was winter.
John.10.22
Then came the Feast of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter,
John.10.22
Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter.
John.10.22
It was now winter, and Jesus was in Jerusalem at the time of Hanukkah.

And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon's porch.
John.10.23
He was at the Temple, walking through the section known as Solomon's Colonnade.
John.10.24
Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
John.10.24
The Jews, circling him, said, "How long are you going to keep us guessing? If you're the Messiah, tell us straight out."
John.10.24
The Jews gathered around him, saying, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly."
John.10.24
Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, "How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly."
John.10.24
The Jewish leaders surrounded him and asked, "How long are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly."
John.10.25
Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
John.10.25
Jesus answered, "I told you, but you don't believe. Everything I have done has been authorized by my Father, actions that speak louder than words.
John.10.25
Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me,
John.10.25
Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father's name, they bear witness of Me.
John.10.25
Jesus replied, "I have already told you, and you don't believe me. The proof is what I do in the name of my Father.
John.10.26
But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
John.10.26
You don't believe because you're not my sheep.
John.10.26
but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.
John.10.26
But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.
John.10.26
But you don't believe me because you are not part of my flock.
John.10.27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John.10.27
My sheep recognize my voice. I know them, and they follow me.
John.10.27
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
John.10.27
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
John.10.27
My sheep recognize my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
John.10.28
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
John.10.28
I give them real and eternal life. They are protected from the Destroyer for good. No one can steal them from out of my hand.
John.10.28
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
John.10.28
And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
John.10.28
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them away from me,
John.10.29
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
John.10.29
The Father who put them under my care is so much greater than the Destroyer and Thief. No one could ever get them away from him.
John.10.29
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.
John.10.29
My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.
John.10.29
for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. So no one can take them from me.

Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.
John.10.31
Once again the Jewish leaders picked up stones to kill him.
John.10.32
Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
John.10.32
Jesus said, "I have made a present to you from the Father of a great many good actions. For which of these acts do you stone me?"
John.10.32
but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?"
John.10.32
Jesus answered them, "Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?"
John.10.32
Jesus said, "At my Father's direction I have done many things to help the people. For which one of these good deeds are you killing me?"
John.10.33
The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
John.10.33
The Jews said, "We're not stoning you for anything good you did, but for what you said--this blasphemy of calling yourself God."
John.10.33
"We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."
John.10.33
The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God."
John.10.33
They replied, "Not for any good work, but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, have made yourself God."
John.10.34
Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
John.10.34
Jesus said, "I'm only quoting your inspired Scriptures, where God said, "I tell you--you are gods.'
John.10.34
Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are gods'?
John.10.34
Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, "I said, "You are gods"'?
John.10.34
Jesus replied, "It is written in your own law that God said to certain leaders of the people, 'I say, you are gods!'
John.10.35
If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
John.10.35
If God called your ancestors "gods'--and Scripture doesn't lie--
John.10.35
If he called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came--and the Scripture cannot be broken--
John.10.35
If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),
John.10.35
And you know that the Scriptures cannot be altered. So if those people, who received God's message, were called 'gods,'
John.10.36
Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
John.10.36
why do you yell, "Blasphemer! Blasphemer!' at the unique One the Father consecrated and sent into the world, just because I said, "I am the Son of God'?
John.10.36
what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'?
John.10.36
do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, "You are blaspheming,' because I said, "I am the Son of God'?
John.10.36
why do you call it blasphemy when the Holy One who was sent into the world by the Father says, 'I am the Son of God'?
John.10.37
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
John.10.37
If I don't do the things my Father does, well and good; don't believe me.
John.10.37
Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does.
John.10.37
If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;
John.10.37
Don't believe me unless I carry out my Father's work.
John.10.38
But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
John.10.38
But if I am doing them, put aside for a moment what you hear me say about myself and just take the evidence of the actions that are right before your eyes. Then perhaps things will come together for you, and you'll see that not only are we doing the same thing, we are the same--Father and Son. He is in me; I am in him."
John.10.38
But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father."
John.10.38
but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him."
John.10.38
But if I do his work, believe in what I have done, even if you don't believe me. Then you will realize that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father."

Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
John.10.39
They tried yet again to arrest him, but he slipped through their fingers.

And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
John.10.41
A lot of people followed him over. They were saying, "John did no miracles, but everything he said about this man has come true."
John.10.41
and many people came to him. They said, "Though John never performed a miraculous sign, all that John said about this man was true."
John.10.41
Then many came to Him and said, "John performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this Man were true."
John.10.41
And many followed him. "John didn't do miracles," they remarked to one another, "but all his predictions about this man have come true."
John.10.42
And many believed on him there.
John.10.42
Many believed in him then and there.
John.10.42
And in that place many believed in Jesus.
John.10.42
And many believed in Him there.
John.10.42
And many believed in him there.
