Num.32.2

The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying,

Num.32.2

And so they came, the families of Gad and of Reuben, and spoke to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the leaders of the congregation, saying,

Num.32.2

So they came to Moses and Eleazar the priest and to the leaders of the community, and said,

Num.32.2

the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, to Eleazar the priest, and to the leaders of the congregation, saying,

Num.32.2

they came to Moses, Eleazar the priest, and the other leaders of the people. They said,

Num.32.3

Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon,

Num.32.3

"Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon

Num.32.3

"Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo and Beon-

Num.32.3

"Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Shebam, Nebo, and Beon,

Num.32.3

"Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon--

Num.32.4

Even the country which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle:

Num.32.4

-the country that GOD laid low before the community of Israel--is a country just right for livestock, and we have livestock."

Num.32.4

the land the LORD subdued before the people of Israel-are suitable for livestock, and your servants have livestock.

Num.32.4

the country which the LORD defeated before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock."

Num.32.4

the LORD has conquered this whole area for the people of Israel. It is ideally suited for all our flocks and herds.

Num.32.5

Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan.

Num.32.5

They continued, "If you think we've done a good job so far, give us this country for our inheritance. Don't make us go across the Jordan."

Num.32.5

If we have found favor in your eyes," they said, "let this land be given to your servants as our possession. Do not make us cross the Jordan."

Num.32.5

Therefore they said, "If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Do not take us over the Jordan."

Num.32.5

If we have found favor with you, please let us have this land as our property instead of giving us land across the Jordan River."

Num.32.6

And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?

Num.32.6

Num.32.6

Moses said to the Gadites and Reubenites, "Shall your countrymen go to war while you sit here?

Num.32.6

And Moses said to the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben: "Shall your brethren go to war while you sit here?

Num.32.6

"Do you mean you want to stay back here while your brothers go across and do all the fighting?" Moses asked the Reubenites and Gadites.

Num.32.7

And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD hath given them?

Num.32.7

Why would you even think of letting the People of Israel down, demoralizing them just as they're about to move into the land GOD gave them?

Num.32.7

Why do you discourage the Israelites from going over into the land the LORD has given them?

Num.32.7

Now why will you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD has given them?

Num.32.7

"Are you trying to discourage the rest of the people of Israel from going across to the land the LORD has given them?

Num.32.8

Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadeshbarnea to see the land.

Num.32.8

That's exactly what your ancestors did when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to survey the country.

Num.32.8

This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to look over the land.

Num.32.8

Thus your fathers did when I sent them away from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.

Num.32.8

This is what your ancestors did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to explore the land.

Num.32.9

For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given them.

Num.32.9

They went as far as the Valley of Eshcol, took one look and quit. They completely demoralized the People of Israel from entering the land GOD had given them.

Num.32.9

After they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and viewed the land, they discouraged the Israelites from entering the land the LORD had given them.

Num.32.9

For when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, so that they did not go into the land which the LORD had given them.

Num.32.9

After they went up to the valley of Eshcol and scouted the land, they discouraged the people of Israel from entering the land the LORD was giving them.

Num.32.10

And the LORD'S anger was kindled the same time, and he sware, saying,

Num.32.10

And GOD got angry--oh, did he get angry! He swore:

Num.32.10

The LORD's anger was aroused that day and he swore this oath:

Num.32.10

So the LORD's anger was aroused on that day, and He swore an oath, saying,

Num.32.10

Then the LORD was furious with them, and he vowed,

Num.32.11

Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:

Num.32.11

"They'll never get to see it; none of those who came up out of Egypt who are twenty years and older will ever get to see the land that I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They weren't interested in following me--their hearts weren't in it.

Num.32.11

'Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, not one of the men twenty years old or more who came up out of Egypt will see the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob-

Num.32.11

"Surely none of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and above, shall see the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because they have not wholly followed Me,

Num.32.11

`Of all those I rescued from Egypt, no one who is twenty years old or older will ever see the land I solemnly promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, for they have not obeyed me completely.

Num.32.12

Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD.

Num.32.12

None, except for Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua son of Nun; they followed me--their hearts were in it.'

Num.32.12

not one except Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they followed the LORD wholeheartedly.'

Num.32.12

except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have wholly followed the LORD.'

Num.32.12

The only exceptions are Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they have wholeheartedly followed the LORD.'

Num.32.13

And the LORD'S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.

Num.32.13

"GOD's anger smoked against Israel. He made them wander in the wilderness for forty years, until that entire generation that acted out evil in his sight had died out.

Num.32.13

The LORD's anger burned against Israel and he made them wander in the desert forty years, until the whole generation of those who had done evil in his sight was gone.

Num.32.13

So the LORD's anger was aroused against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the LORD was gone.

Num.32.13

"The LORD was furious with Israel and made them wander in the wilderness for forty years until the whole generation that sinned against him had died.

Num.32.14

And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel.

Num.32.14

"And now here you are, just one more mob of sinners stepping up to replace your ancestors, throwing fuel on the already blazing anger of GOD against Israel.

Num.32.14

"And here you are, a brood of sinners, standing in the place of your fathers and making the LORD even more angry with Israel.

Num.32.14

And look! You have risen in your fathers' place, a brood of sinful men, to increase still more the fierce anger of the LORD against Israel.

Num.32.14

But here you are, a brood of sinners, doing exactly the same thing! You are making the LORD even angrier with Israel.

Num.32.15

For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.

Num.32.15

If you won't follow him, he'll do it again. He'll dump them in the desert and the disaster will be all your fault."

Num.32.15

If you turn away from following him, he will again leave all this people in the desert, and you will be the cause of their destruction."

Num.32.15

For if you turn away from following Him, He will once again leave them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all these people."

Num.32.15

If you turn away from him like this and he abandons them again in the wilderness, you will be responsible for destroying this entire nation!"

Num.32.16

And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones:

Num.32.16

They came close to him and said, "All we want to do is build corrals for our livestock and towns for our families.

Num.32.16

Then they came up to him and said, "We would like to build pens here for our livestock and cities for our women and children.

Num.32.16

Then they came near to him and said: "We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones,

Num.32.16

But they responded to Moses, "We simply want to build sheepfolds for our flocks and fortified cities for our wives and children.

Num.32.17

But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

Num.32.17

Then we'll take up arms and take the front lines, leading the People of Israel to their place. We'll be able to leave our families behind, secure in fortified towns, safe from those who live in the land.

Num.32.17

But we are ready to arm ourselves and go ahead of the Israelites until we have brought them to their place. Meanwhile our women and children will live in fortified cities, for protection from the inhabitants of the land.

Num.32.17

but we ourselves will be armed, ready to go before the children of Israel until we have brought them to their place; and our little ones will dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

Num.32.17

Then we will arm ourselves and lead our fellow Israelites into battle until we have brought them safely to their inheritance. Meanwhile, our families will stay in the fortified cities we build here, so they will be safe from any attacks by the local people.

Num.32.18

We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.

Num.32.18

But we won't go back home until every Israelite is in full possession of his inheritance.

Num.32.18

We will not return to our homes until every Israelite has received his inheritance.

Num.32.18

We will not return to our homes until every one of the children of Israel has received his inheritance.

Num.32.18

We will not return to our homes until all the people of Israel have received their inheritance of land.

Num.32.19

For we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward.

Num.32.19

We won't expect any inheritance west of the Jordan; we are claiming all our inheritance east of the Jordan."

Num.32.19

We will not receive any inheritance with them on the other side of the Jordan, because our inheritance has come to us on the east side of the Jordan."

Num.32.19

For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has fallen to us on this eastern side of the Jordan."

Num.32.19

But we do not want any of the land on the other side of the Jordan. We would rather live here on the east side where we have received our inheritance."

Num.32.20

And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before the LORD to war,

Num.32.20

Moses said, "If you do what you say, take up arms before GOD for battle

Num.32.20

Then Moses said to them, "If you will do this-if you will arm yourselves before the LORD for battle,

Num.32.20

Then Moses said to them: "If you do this thing, if you arm yourselves before the LORD for the war,

Num.32.20

Then Moses said, "If you keep your word and arm yourselves for the LORD's battles,

Num.32.21

And will go all of you armed over Jordan before the LORD, until he hath driven out his enemies from before him,

Num.32.21

and together go across the Jordan ready, before GOD, to fight until GOD has cleaned his enemies out of the land,

Num.32.21

and if all of you will go armed over the Jordan before the LORD until he has driven his enemies out before him-

Num.32.21

and all your armed men cross over the Jordan before the LORD until He has driven out His enemies from before Him,

Num.32.21

and if your troops cross the Jordan until the LORD has driven out his enemies,

Num.32.22

And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.

Num.32.22

then when the land is secure you will have fulfilled your duty to GOD and Israel. Then this land will be yours to keep before GOD.

Num.32.22

then when the land is subdued before the LORD, you may return and be free from your obligation to the LORD and to Israel. And this land will be your possession before the LORD.

Num.32.22

and the land is subdued before the LORD, then afterward you may return and be blameless before the LORD and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.

Num.32.22

then you may return when the land is finally subdued before the LORD. You will have discharged your duty to the LORD and to the rest of the people of Israel. And the land on the east side of the Jordan will be your inheritance from the LORD.

Num.32.23

But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.

Num.32.23

"But if you don't do what you say, you will be sinning against GOD; you can be sure that your sin will track you down.

Num.32.23

"But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the LORD; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.

Num.32.23

But if you do not do so, then take note, you have sinned against the LORD; and be sure your sin will find you out.

Num.32.23

But if you fail to keep your word, then you will have sinned against the LORD, and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.

Num.32.24

Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which hath proceeded out of your mouth.

Num.32.24

So, go ahead. Build towns for your families and corrals for you livestock. Do what you said you'd do."

Num.32.24

Build cities for your women and children, and pens for your flocks, but do what you have promised."

Num.32.24

Build cities for your little ones and folds for your sheep, and do what has proceeded out of your mouth."

Num.32.24

Go ahead and build towns for your families and sheepfolds for your flocks, but do everything you have said."

Num.32.25

Then the people of Gad and Reuben replied, "We are your servants and will follow your instructions exactly.

Num.32.26

Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead:

Num.32.26

Our children and wives, our flocks and herds will stay behind here in the towns of Gilead.

Num.32.26

Our children and wives, our flocks and herds will remain here in the cities of Gilead.

Num.32.26

Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock will be there in the cities of Gilead;

Num.32.26

Our children, wives, flocks, and cattle will stay here in the towns of Gilead.

Num.32.27

But thy servants will pass over, every man armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord saith.

Num.32.27

But we, every one of us fully armed, will cross the river to fight for GOD, just as our master has said."

Num.32.27

But your servants, every man armed for battle, will cross over to fight before the LORD, just as our lord says."

Num.32.27

but your servants will cross over, every man armed for war, before the LORD to battle, just as my lord says."

Num.32.27

But, sir, all who are able to bear arms will cross over to fight for the LORD, just as you have said."

Num.32.28

So concerning them Moses commanded Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel:

Num.32.28

So Moses issued orders for them to Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the ancestral tribes of the People of Israel.

Num.32.28

Then Moses gave orders about them to Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun and to the family heads of the Israelite tribes.

Num.32.28

So Moses gave command concerning them to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel.

Num.32.28

So Moses gave orders to Eleazar, Joshua, and the tribal leaders of Israel.

Num.32.29

And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over Jordan, every man armed to battle, before the LORD, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession:

Num.32.29

Moses said, "If the families of Gad and Reuben cross the Jordan River with you and before GOD, all armed and ready to fight, then after the land is secure, you may give them the land of Gilead as their inheritance.

Num.32.29

He said to them, "If the Gadites and Reubenites, every man armed for battle, cross over the Jordan with you before the LORD, then when the land is subdued before you, give them the land of Gilead as their possession.

Num.32.29

He said, "If all the men of Gad and Reuben who are able to fight the LORD's battles cross the Jordan with you, then when the land is conquered, you must give them the land of Gilead as their property.

Num.32.30

But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.

Num.32.30

But if they don't cross over with you, they'll have to settle up with you in Canaan."

Num.32.30

But if they do not cross over with you armed, they must accept their possession with you in Canaan."

Num.32.30

But if they do not cross over armed with you, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan."

Num.32.30

But if they refuse to cross over and march ahead of you, then they must accept land with the rest of you in the land of Canaan."
