Mic.5.1

Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

Mic.5.1

But for now, prepare for the worst, victim daughter! The siege is set against us. They humiliate Israel's king, slapping him around like a rag doll.

Mic.5.1

Marshal your troops, O city of troops, for a siege is laid against us. They will strike Israel's ruler on the cheek with a rod.

Mic.5.1

Now gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops; He has laid siege against us; They will strike the judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek.

Mic.5.1

Mobilize! Marshal your troops! The enemy is laying siege to Jerusalem. With a rod they will strike the leader of Israel in the face.

Mic.5.2

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Mic.5.2

But you, Bethlehem, David's country, the runt of the litter--From you will come the leader who will shepherd-rule Israel. He'll be no upstart, no pretender. His family tree is ancient and distinguished.

Mic.5.2

"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. "

Mic.5.2

"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting."

Mic.5.2

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village in Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from the distant past.

Mic.5.3

Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

Mic.5.3

Meanwhile, Israel will be in foster homes until the birth pangs are over and the child is born, And the scattered brothers come back home to the family of Israel.

Mic.5.3

Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor gives birth and the rest of his brothers return to join the Israelites.

Mic.5.3

Therefore He shall give them up, Until the time that she who is in labor has given birth; Then the remnant of His brethren Shall return to the children of Israel.

Mic.5.3

The people of Israel will be abandoned to their enemies until the time when the woman in labor gives birth to her son. Then at last his fellow countrymen will return from exile to their own land.

Mic.5.4

And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.

Mic.5.4

He will stand tall in his shepherd-rule by GOD's strength, centered in the majesty of GOD-Revealed. And the people will have a good and safe home, for the whole world will hold him in respect--Peacemaker of the world!

Mic.5.4

He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.

Mic.5.4

And He shall stand and feed His flock In the strength of the LORD, In the majesty of the name of the LORD His God; And they shall abide, For now He shall be great To the ends of the earth;

Mic.5.4

And he will stand to lead his flock with the LORD's strength, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. Then his people will live there undisturbed, for he will be highly honored all around the world.

Mic.5.5

And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

Mic.5.5

And if some bullying Assyrian shows up, invades and violates our land, don't worry. We'll put him in his place, send him packing, and watch his every move.

Mic.5.5

And he will be their peace. When the Assyrian invades our land and marches through our fortresses, we will raise against him seven shepherds, even eight leaders of men.

Mic.5.5

And this One shall be peace. When the Assyrian comes into our land, And when he treads in our palaces, Then we will raise against him Seven shepherds and eight princely men.

Mic.5.5

And he will be the source of our peace. When the Assyrians invade our land and break through our defenses, we will appoint seven rulers to watch over us, eight princes to lead us.

Mic.5.6

And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

Mic.5.6

Shepherd-rule will extend as far as needed, to Assyria and all other Nimrod-bullies. Our shepherd-ruler will save us from old or new enemies, from anyone who invades or violates our land.

Mic.5.6

They will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with drawn sword. He will deliver us from the Assyrian when he invades our land and marches into our borders.

Mic.5.6

They shall waste with the sword the land of Assyria, And the land of Nimrod at its entrances; Thus He shall deliver us from the Assyrian, When he comes into our land And when he treads within our borders.

Mic.5.6

They will rule Assyria with drawn swords and enter the gates of the land of Nimrod. They will rescue us from the Assyrians when they pour over the borders to invade our land.

Mic.5.7

And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.

Mic.5.7

The purged and select company of Jacob will be like an island in the sea of peoples. They'll be like dew from GOD, like summer showers Not mentioned in the weather forecast, not subject to calculation or control.

Mic.5.7

The remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the LORD, like showers on the grass, which do not wait for man or linger for mankind.

Mic.5.7

Then the remnant of Jacob Shall be in the midst of many peoples, Like dew from the LORD, Like showers on the grass, That tarry for no man Nor wait for the sons of men.

Mic.5.7

Then the few left in Israel will go out among the nations. They will be like dew sent by the LORD or like rain falling on the grass, which no one can hold back.

Mic.5.8

And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.

Mic.5.8

Yes, the purged and select company of Jacob will be like an island in the sea of peoples, Like the king of beasts among wild beasts, like a young lion loose in a flock of sheep, Killing and devouring the lambs and no one able to stop him.

Mic.5.8

The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which mauls and mangles as it goes, and no one can rescue.

Mic.5.8

And the remnant of Jacob Shall be among the Gentiles, In the midst of many peoples, Like a lion among the beasts of the forest, Like a young lion among flocks of sheep, Who, if he passes through, Both treads down and tears in pieces, And none can deliver.

Mic.5.8

The remnant of Israel will go out among the nations and be as strong as a lion. And the other nations will be like helpless sheep, with no one to rescue them.

Mic.5.9

Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.

Mic.5.9

With your arms raised in triumph over your foes, your enemies will be no more! [JC]

Mic.5.9

Your hand will be lifted up in triumph over your enemies, and all your foes will be destroyed.

Mic.5.9

Your hand shall be lifted against your adversaries, And all your enemies shall be cut off.

Mic.5.9

The people of Israel will stand up to their foes, and all their enemies will be wiped out.

Mic.5.10

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots:

Mic.5.10

"The day is coming" -GOD's Decree--"When there will be no more war. None. I'll slaughter your war horses and demolish your chariots.

Mic.5.10

"In that day," declares the LORD, "I will destroy your horses from among you and demolish your chariots.

Mic.5.10

"And it shall be in that day," says the LORD, "That I will cut off your horses from your midst And destroy your chariots.

Mic.5.10

"At that same time," says the LORD, "I will destroy all your weapons--your horses and chariots.

Mic.5.11

And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:

Mic.5.11

I'll dismantle military posts and level your fortifications.

Mic.5.11

I will destroy the cities of your land and tear down all your strongholds.

Mic.5.11

I will cut off the cities of your land And throw down all your strongholds.

Mic.5.11

I will tear down your walls and demolish the defenses of your cities.

Mic.5.12

And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:

Mic.5.12

I'll abolish your religious black markets, your underworld traffic in black magic.

Mic.5.12

I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.

Mic.5.12

I will cut off sorceries from your hand, And you shall have no soothsayers.

Mic.5.12

I will put an end to all witchcraft; there will be no more fortune-tellers to consult.

Mic.5.13

Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.

Mic.5.13

I will smash your carved and cast gods and chop down your phallic posts. No more taking control of the world, worshiping what you do or make.

Mic.5.13

I will destroy your carved images and your sacred stones from among you; you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands.

Mic.5.13

Your carved images I will also cut off, And your sacred pillars from your midst; You shall no more worship the work of your hands;

Mic.5.13

I will destroy all your idols and sacred pillars, so you will never again worship the work of your own hands.

Mic.5.14

And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee: so will I destroy thy cities.

Mic.5.14

I'll root out your sacred sex-and-power centers and destroy the God-defiant.

Mic.5.14

I will uproot from among you your Asherah poles and demolish your cities.

Mic.5.14

I will pluck your wooden images from your midst; Thus I will destroy your cities.

Mic.5.14

I will abolish your pagan shrines with their Asherah poles and destroy the cities where your idol temples stand.

Mic.5.15

And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.

Mic.5.15

In raging anger, I'll make a clean sweep of godless nations who haven't listened."

Mic.5.15

I will take vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that have not obeyed me."

Mic.5.15

And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury On the nations that have not heard."

Mic.5.15

I will pour out my vengeance on all the nations that refuse to obey me."
