Ezek.3.1

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.

Ezek.3.1

He told me, "Son of man, eat what you see. Eat this book. Then go and speak to the family of Israel."

Ezek.3.1

And he said to me, "Son of man, eat what is before you, eat this scroll; then go and speak to the house of Israel."

Moreover He said to me, "Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel."

Ezek.3.1

The voice said to me, "Son of man, eat what I am giving you--eat this scroll! Then go and give its message to the people of Israel."

Ezek.3.2

So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.

As I opened my mouth, he gave me the scroll to eat,

And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

Ezek.3.3

saying, "Son of man, eat this book that I am giving you. Make a full meal of it!" So I ate it. It tasted so good--just like honey.

Ezek.3.3

Then he said to me, "Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it." So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.

Ezek.3.3

And He said to me, "Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you." So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness.

Ezek.3.3

"Eat it all," he said. And when I ate it, it tasted as sweet as honey.

And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

Ezek.3.4

Then he told me, "Son of man, go to the family of Israel and speak my Message.

Ezek.3.4

He then said to me: "Son of man, go now to the house of Israel and speak my words to them.

Ezek.3.4

Then He said to me: "Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them.

Ezek.3.4

Then he said, "Son of man, go to the people of Israel with my messages.

Ezek.3.5

For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;

Ezek.3.5

Look, I'm not sending you to a people who speak a hard-to-learn language with words you can hardly pronounce.

Ezek.3.5

You are not being sent to a people of obscure speech and difficult language, but to the house of Israel-

Ezek.3.5

For you are not sent to a people of unfamiliar speech and of hard language, but to the house of Israel,

Ezek.3.5

I am not sending you to some foreign people whose language you cannot understand.

Ezek.3.6

Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

Ezek.3.6

If I had sent you to such people, their ears would have perked up and they would have listened immediately.

Ezek.3.6

not to many peoples of obscure speech and difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you.

No, I am not sending you to people with strange and difficult speech. If I did, they would listen!

Ezek.3.7

But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.

"But it won't work that way with the family of Israel. They won't listen to you because they won't listen to me. They are, as I said, a hard case, hardened in their sin.

Ezek.3.7

But the house of Israel is not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for the whole house of Israel is hardened and obstinate.

Ezek.3.7

But the house of Israel will not listen to you, because they will not listen to Me; for all the house of Israel are impudent and hard-hearted.

Ezek.3.7

I am sending you to the people of Israel, but they won't listen to you any more than they listen to me! For the whole lot of them are hard-hearted and stubborn.

Ezek.3.8

Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.

Ezek.3.8

But I'll make you as hard in your way as they are in theirs.

Ezek.3.8

But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are.

Ezek.3.8

Behold, I have made your face strong against their faces, and your forehead strong against their foreheads.

Ezek.3.8

But look, I have made you as hard and stubborn as they are.

Ezek.3.9

As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

Ezek.3.9

I'll make your face as hard as rock, harder than granite. Don't let them intimidate you. Don't be afraid of them, even though they're a bunch of rebels."

Ezek.3.9

I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house."

Ezek.3.9

Like adamant stone, harder than flint, I have made your forehead; do not be afraid of them, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house."

Ezek.3.9

I have made you as hard as rock! So don't be afraid of them or fear their angry looks, even though they are such rebels."

Ezek.3.10

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.

Ezek.3.10

Then he said, "Son of man, get all these words that I'm giving you inside you. Listen to them obediently. Make them your own.

Ezek.3.10

And he said to me, "Son of man, listen carefully and take to heart all the words I speak to you.

Ezek.3.10

Moreover He said to me: "Son of man, receive into your heart all My words that I speak to you, and hear with your ears.

Ezek.3.10

Then he added, "Son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself.

Ezek.3.11

And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

Ezek.3.11

And now go. Go to the exiles, your people, and speak. Tell them, "This is the Message of GOD, the Master.' Speak your piece, whether they listen or not."

Ezek.3.11

Go now to your countrymen in exile and speak to them. Say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says,' whether they listen or fail to listen."

Ezek.3.11

And go, get to the captives, to the children of your people, and speak to them and tell them, "Thus says the Lord GOD,' whether they hear, or whether they refuse."

Ezek.3.11

Then go to your people in exile and say to them, `This is what the Sovereign LORD says!' Do this whether they listen to you or not."

Ezek.3.12

Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.

Ezek.3.12

Then the Spirit picked me up. Behind me I heard a great commotion--"Blessed be the Glory of GOD in his Sanctuary!"

Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a loud rumbling sound-May the glory of the LORD be praised in his dwelling place!-

Ezek.3.12

Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a great thunderous voice: "Blessed is the glory of the LORD from His place!"

Ezek.3.12

Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard a loud rumbling sound behind me. (May the glory of the LORD be praised in his place!)

Ezek.3.13

I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.

Ezek.3.13

-the wings of the living creatures beating against each other, the whirling wheels, the rumble of a great earthquake.

Ezek.3.13

the sound of the wings of the living creatures brushing against each other and the sound of the wheels beside them, a loud rumbling sound.

Ezek.3.13

I also heard the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels beside them, and a great thunderous noise.

Ezek.3.13

It was the sound of the wings of the living beings as they brushed against each other and the rumbling of their wheels beneath them.

Ezek.3.14

So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

Ezek.3.14

The Spirit lifted me and took me away. I went bitterly and angrily. I didn't want to go. But GOD had me in his grip.

Ezek.3.14

The Spirit then lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness and in the anger of my spirit, with the strong hand of the LORD upon me.

Ezek.3.14

So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

Ezek.3.14

The Spirit lifted me up and took me away. I went in bitterness and turmoil, but the LORD's hold on me was strong.

Ezek.3.15

Then I came to them of the captivity at Telabib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

Ezek.3.15

I arrived among the exiles who lived near the Kebar River at Tel Aviv. I came to where they were living and sat there for seven days, appalled.

Ezek.3.15

I came to the exiles who lived at Tel Abib near the Kebar River. And there, where they were living, I sat among them for seven days-overwhelmed.

Ezek.3.15

Then I came to the captives at Tel Abib, who dwelt by the River Chebar; and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

Ezek.3.15

Then I came to the colony of Judean exiles in Tel-abib, beside the Kebar River. I sat there among them for seven days, overwhelmed.

Ezek.3.16

And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Ezek.3.16

At the end of the seven days, I received this Message from GOD:

At the end of seven days the word of the LORD came to me:

Now it came to pass at the end of seven days that the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Ezek.3.16

At the end of the seven days, the LORD gave me a message. He said,

Ezek.3.17

Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

Ezek.3.17

"Son of man, I've made you a watchman for the family of Israel. Whenever you hear me say something, warn them for me.

Ezek.3.17

"Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.

Ezek.3.17

"Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me:

Ezek.3.17

"Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for Israel. Whenever you receive a message from me, pass it on to the people immediately.

Ezek.3.18

When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Ezek.3.18

If I say to the wicked, "You are going to die,' and you don't sound the alarm warning them that it's a matter of life or death, they will die and it will be your fault. I'll hold you responsible.

Ezek.3.18

When I say to a wicked man, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

Ezek.3.18

When I say to the wicked, "You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.

Ezek.3.18

If I warn the wicked, saying, `You are under the penalty of death,' but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible, demanding your blood for theirs.

Ezek.3.19

Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

Ezek.3.19

But if you warn the wicked and they keep right on sinning anyway, they'll most certainly die for their sin, but you won't die. You'll have saved your life.

Ezek.3.19

But if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin; but you will have saved yourself.

Ezek.3.19

Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.

Ezek.3.19

If you warn them and they keep on sinning and refuse to repent, they will die in their sins. But you will have saved your life because you did what you were told to do.

Ezek.3.20

Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Ezek.3.20

"And if the righteous turn back from living righteously and take up with evil when I step in and put them in a hard place, they'll die. If you haven't warned them, they'll die because of their sins, and none of the right things they've done will count for anything--and I'll hold you responsible.

Ezek.3.20

"Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die for his sin. The righteous things he did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

Ezek.3.20

"Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.

Ezek.3.20

If good people turn bad and don't listen to my warning, they will die. If you did not warn them of the consequences, then they will die in their sins. Their previous good deeds won't help them, and I will hold you responsible, demanding your blood for theirs.

Ezek.3.21

Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

Ezek.3.21

But if you warn these righteous people not to sin and they listen to you, they'll live because they took the warning--and again, you'll have saved your life."

Ezek.3.21

But if you do warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning, and you will have saved yourself."

Ezek.3.21

Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul."

Ezek.3.21

But if you warn them and they repent, they will live, and you will have saved your own life, too."

And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.

GOD grabbed me by the shoulder and said, "Get up. Go out on the plain. I want to talk with you."

The hand of the LORD was upon me there, and he said to me, "Get up and go out to the plain, and there I will speak to you."

Ezek.3.22

Then the hand of the LORD was upon me there, and He said to me, "Arise, go out into the plain, and there I shall talk with you."

Then the LORD took hold of me, and he said to me, "Go out into the valley, and I will talk to you there."

Ezek.3.23

Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face.

Ezek.3.23

So I got up and went out on the plain. I couldn't believe my eyes: the Glory of GOD! Right there! It was like the Glory I had seen at the Kebar River. I fell to the ground, prostrate.

So I got up and went out to the plain. And the glory of the LORD was standing there, like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown.

Ezek.3.23

So I arose and went out into the plain, and behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, like the glory which I saw by the River Chebar; and I fell on my face.

Ezek.3.23

So I got up and went, and there I saw the glory of the LORD, just as I had seen it in my first vision by the Kebar River. And I fell face down in the dust.

Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house.

Ezek.3.24

Then the Spirit entered me and put me on my feet. He said, "Go home and shut the door behind you."

Ezek.3.24

Then the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet. He spoke to me and said: "Go, shut yourself inside your house.

Ezek.3.24

Then the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet, and spoke with me and said to me: "Go, shut yourself inside your house.

Ezek.3.24

Then the Spirit came into me and set me on my feet. He talked to me and said, "Go, shut yourself up in your house.

Ezek.3.25

But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them:

Ezek.3.25

And then something odd: "Son of man: They'll tie you hand and foot with ropes so you can't leave the house.

Ezek.3.25

And you, son of man, they will tie with ropes; you will be bound so that you cannot go out among the people.

Ezek.3.25

And you, O son of man, surely they will put ropes on you and bind you with them, so that you cannot go out among them.

Ezek.3.25

There you will be bound with ropes so you cannot go out among the people.

Ezek.3.26

And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house.

Ezek.3.26

I'll make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so you won't be able to talk and tell the people what they're doing wrong, even though they are a bunch of rebels.

Ezek.3.26

I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be silent and unable to rebuke them, though they are a rebellious house.

Ezek.3.26

I will make your tongue cling to the roof of your mouth, so that you shall be mute and not be one to rebuke them, for they are a rebellious house.

Ezek.3.26

And I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so you won't be able to pray for them, for they are rebellious.

Ezek.3.27

But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.

Ezek.3.27

"But then when the time is ripe, I'll free your tongue and you'll say, "This is what GOD, the Master, says:...' From then on it's up to them. They can listen or not listen, whichever they like. They are a bunch of rebels!

Ezek.3.27

But when I speak to you, I will open your mouth and you shall say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says.' Whoever will listen let him listen, and whoever will refuse let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.

Ezek.3.27

But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, "Thus says the Lord GOD.' He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses, let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.

Ezek.3.27

But whenever I give you a message, I will loosen your tongue and let you speak. Then you will say to them, `This is what the Sovereign LORD says!' Some of them will listen, but some will ignore you, for they are rebels.
