Ezek.15.1

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Ezek.15.1

GOD's Message came to me:

Ezek.15.1

The word of the LORD came to me:

Ezek.15.1

Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying:

Ezek.15.1

Then this message came to me from the LORD:

Ezek.15.2

Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?

Ezek.15.2

"Son of man, how would you compare the wood of a vine with the branches of any tree you'd find in the forest?

Ezek.15.2

"Son of man, how is the wood of a vine better than that of a branch on any of the trees in the forest?

Ezek.15.2

"Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than any other wood, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?

Ezek.15.2

"Son of man, how does a grapevine compare to a tree? Is a vine's wood as useful as the wood of a tree?

Ezek.15.3

Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?

Ezek.15.3

Is vine wood ever used to make anything? Is it used to make pegs to hang things from?

Ezek.15.3

Is wood ever taken from it to make anything useful? Do they make pegs from it to hang things on?

Ezek.15.3

Is wood taken from it to make any object? Or can men make a peg from it to hang any vessel on?

Ezek.15.3

Can its wood be used for making things, like pegs to hang up pots and pans?

Ezek.15.4

Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?

Ezek.15.4

"I don't think so. At best it's good for fuel. Look at it: a flimsy piece of vine, thrown in the fire and then rescued--the ends burned off and the middle charred. Now is it good for anything?

Ezek.15.4

And after it is thrown on the fire as fuel and the fire burns both ends and chars the middle, is it then useful for anything?

Ezek.15.4

Instead, it is thrown into the fire for fuel; the fire devours both ends of it, and its middle is burned. Is it useful for any work?

Ezek.15.4

No, it can only be used for fuel, and even as fuel, it burns too quickly.

Ezek.15.5

Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned?

Ezek.15.5

"Hardly. When it was whole it wasn't good for anything. Half-burned is no improvement. What's it good for?

Ezek.15.5

If it was not useful for anything when it was whole, how much less can it be made into something useful when the fire has burned it and it is charred?

Ezek.15.5

Indeed, when it was whole, no object could be made from it. How much less will it be useful for any work when the fire has devoured it, and it is burned?

Ezek.15.5

Vine branches are useless both before and after being put into the fire!

Ezek.15.6

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Ezek.15.6

"So here's the Message of GOD, the Master: Like the wood of the vine I selected from among the trees of the forest and used as fuel for the fire, just so I'll treat those who live in Jerusalem.

Ezek.15.6

"Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: As I have given the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest as fuel for the fire, so will I treat the people living in Jerusalem.

Ezek.15.6

"Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give up the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

Ezek.15.6

"And this is what the Sovereign LORD says: The people of Jerusalem are like grapevines growing among the trees of the forest. Since they are useless, I have set them aside to be burned!

Ezek.15.7

And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them.

Ezek.15.7

I am dead set against them. Even though at one time they got out of the fire charred, the fire's going to burn them up. When I take my stand against them, you'll realize that I am GOD.

Ezek.15.7

I will set my face against them. Although they have come out of the fire, the fire will yet consume them. And when I set my face against them, you will know that I am the LORD.

Ezek.15.7

and I will set My face against them. They will go out from one fire, but another fire shall devour them. Then you shall know that I am the LORD, when I set My face against them.

Ezek.15.7

And I will see to it that if they escape from one fire, they will fall into another. When this happens, you will know that I am the LORD.

Ezek.15.8

And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord GOD.

Ezek.15.8

I'll turn this country into a wilderness because they've been faithless." Decree of GOD, the Master.

Ezek.15.8

I will make the land desolate because they have been unfaithful, declares the Sovereign LORD."

Ezek.15.8

Thus I will make the land desolate, because they have persisted in unfaithfulness,' says the Lord GOD."

Ezek.15.8

And I will make the land desolate because my people have been unfaithful to me, says the Sovereign LORD."
