Jer.32.1

The following message came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah. This was also the eighteenth year of the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar.

Jer.32.2

For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house.

Jer.32.2

At that time the army of the king of Babylon was holding Jerusalem under siege. Jeremiah was shut up in jail in the royal palace.

Jer.32.2

The army of the king of Babylon was then besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was confined in the courtyard of the guard in the royal palace of Judah.

Jer.32.2

For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house.

Jer.32.2

Jerusalem was under siege from the Babylonian army, and Jeremiah was imprisoned in the courtyard of the guard in the royal palace.

Jer.32.3

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;

Jer.32.3

Zedekiah, king of Judah, had locked him up, complaining, "How dare you preach, saying, "GOD says, I'm warning you: I will hand this city over to the king of Babylon and he will take it over.

Jer.32.3

Now Zedekiah king of Judah had imprisoned him there, saying, "Why do you prophesy as you do? You say, 'This is what the LORD says: I am about to hand this city over to the king of Babylon, and he will capture it.

Jer.32.3

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, "Why do you prophesy and say, "Thus says the LORD: "Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;

Jer.32.3

King Zedekiah had put him there because he continued to give this prophecy: "This is what the LORD says: I am about to hand this city over to the king of Babylon.

Jer.32.4

And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;

Jer.32.4

Zedekiah king of Judah will be handed over to the Chaldeans right along with the city. He will be handed over to the king of Babylon and forced to face the music.

Jer.32.4

Zedekiah king of Judah will not escape out of the hands of the Babylonians but will certainly be handed over to the king of Babylon, and will speak with him face to face and see him with his own eyes.

Jer.32.4

and Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape from the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him face to face, and see him eye to eye;

Jer.32.4

King Zedekiah will be captured by the Babylonians and taken to the king of Babylon to be judged and sentenced.

Jer.32.5

And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.

Jer.32.5

He'll be hauled off to Babylon where he'll stay until I deal with him. GOD's Decree. Fight against the Babylonians all you want--it won't get you anywhere.'"

Jer.32.5

He will take Zedekiah to Babylon, where he will remain until I deal with him, declares the LORD. If you fight against the Babylonians, you will not succeed.'"

Jer.32.5

then he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there he shall be until I visit him," says the LORD; "though you fight with the Chaldeans, you shall not succeed"'?"

Jer.32.5

I will take Zedekiah to Babylon and will deal with him there. If you fight against the Babylonians, you will never succeed."

Jer.32.6

And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Jer.32.6

Jeremiah said, "GOD's Message came to me like this:

Jer.32.6

Jeremiah said, "The word of the LORD came to me:

Jer.32.6

And Jeremiah said, "The word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Jer.32.6

At that time the LORD sent me a message. He said,

Jer.32.7

Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.

Jer.32.7

Prepare yourself! Hanamel, your uncle Shallum's son, is on his way to see you. He is going to say, "Buy my field in Anathoth. You have the legal right to buy it.'

Jer.32.7

Hanamel son of Shallum your uncle is going to come to you and say, 'Buy my field at Anathoth, because as nearest relative it is your right and duty to buy it.'

Jer.32.7

"Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying, "Buy my field which is in Anathoth, for the right of redemption is yours to buy it."'

Jer.32.7

"Your cousin Hanamel son of Shallum will come and say to you, `Buy my field at Anathoth. By law you have the right to buy it before it is offered to anyone else.'"

Jer.32.8

So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.

Jer.32.8

"And sure enough, just as GOD had said, my cousin Hanamel came to me while I was in jail and said, "Buy my field in Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin, for you have the legal right to keep it in the family. Buy it. Take it over.'"That did it. I knew it was GOD's Message.

Jer.32.8

"Then, just as the LORD had said, my cousin Hanamel came to me in the courtyard of the guard and said, 'Buy my field at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin. Since it is your right to redeem it and possess it, buy it for yourself.'"I knew that this was the word of the LORD;

Jer.32.8

Then Hanamel my uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said to me, "Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption yours; buy it for yourself.' Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.

Jer.32.8

Then, just as the LORD had said he would, Hanamel came and visited me in the prison. He said, "Buy my field at Anathoth in the land of Benjamin. By law you have the right to buy it before it is offered to anyone else, so buy it for yourself." Then I knew for sure that the message I had heard was from the LORD.

Jer.32.9

And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.

Jer.32.9

"So I bought the field at Anathoth from my cousin Hanamel. I paid him seventeen silver shekels.

Jer.32.9

so I bought the field at Anathoth from my cousin Hanamel and weighed out for him seventeen shekels of silver.

Jer.32.9

So I bought the field from Hanamel, the son of my uncle who was in Anathoth, and weighed out to him the money--seventeen shekels of silver.

Jer.32.9

So I bought the field at Anathoth, paying Hanamel seventeen pieces of silver for it.

Jer.32.10

And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.

Jer.32.10

I followed all the proper procedures: In the presence of witnesses I wrote out the bill of sale, sealed it, and weighed out the money on the scales.

Jer.32.10

I signed and sealed the deed, had it witnessed, and weighed out the silver on the scales.

Jer.32.10

And I signed the deed and sealed it, took witnesses, and weighed the money on the scales.

Jer.32.10

I signed and sealed the deed of purchase before witnesses, weighed out the silver, and paid him.

Jer.32.11

So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:

Jer.32.11

Then I took the deed of purchase--the sealed copy that contained the contract and its conditions and also the open copy--

Jer.32.11

I took the deed of purchase-the sealed copy containing the terms and conditions, as well as the unsealed copy-

Jer.32.11

So I took the purchase deed, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open;

Jer.32.11

Then I took the sealed deed and an unsealed copy of the deed, which contained the terms and conditions of the purchase,

Jer.32.12

And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.

Jer.32.12

and gave them to Baruch son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah. All this took place in the presence of my cousin Hanamel and the witnesses who had signed the deed, as the Jews who were at the jail that day looked on.

Jer.32.12

and I gave this deed to Baruch son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of my cousin Hanamel and of the witnesses who had signed the deed and of all the Jews sitting in the courtyard of the guard.

Jer.32.12

and I gave the purchase deed to Baruch the son of Neriah, son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses who signed the purchase deed, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the prison.

Jer.32.12

and I handed them to Baruch son of Neriah and grandson of Mahseiah. I did all this in the presence of my cousin Hanamel, the witnesses who had signed the deed, and all the men of Judah who were there.

Jer.32.13

And I charged Baruch before them, saying,

Jer.32.13

"Then, in front of all of them, I told Baruch,

Jer.32.13

"In their presence I gave Baruch these instructions:

Jer.32.13

"Then I charged Baruch before them, saying,

Jer.32.13

Then I said to Baruch as they all listened,

Jer.32.14

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.

Jer.32.14

"These are orders from GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies, the God of Israel: Take these documents--both the sealed and the open deeds--and put them for safekeeping in a pottery jar.

Jer.32.14

'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Take these documents, both the sealed and unsealed copies of the deed of purchase, and put them in a clay jar so they will last a long time.

Jer.32.14

"Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Take these deeds, both this purchase deed which is sealed and this deed which is open, and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may last many days."

Jer.32.14

"The LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Take both this sealed deed and the unsealed copy, and put them into a pottery jar to preserve them for a long time.

Jer.32.15

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.

Jer.32.15

For GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies, the God of Israel, says, "Life is going to return to normal. Homes and fields and vineyards are again going to be bought in this country."'

Jer.32.15

For this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Houses, fields and vineyards will again be bought in this land.'

Jer.32.15

For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land."'

Jer.32.15

For the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Someday people will again own property here in this land and will buy and sell houses and vineyards and fields."

Jer.32.16

Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,

Jer.32.16

"And then, having handed over the legal documents to Baruch son of Neriah, I prayed to GOD,

Jer.32.16

"After I had given the deed of purchase to Baruch son of Neriah, I prayed to the LORD:

Jer.32.16

"Now when I had delivered the purchase deed to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to the LORD, saying:

Jer.32.16

Then after I had given the papers to Baruch, I prayed to the LORD:

Jer.32.17

Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

Jer.32.17

"Dear GOD, my Master, you created earth and sky by your great power--by merely stretching out your arm! There is nothing you can't do.

Jer.32.17

"Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

Jer.32.17

"Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.

Jer.32.17

"O Sovereign LORD! You have made the heavens and earth by your great power. Nothing is too hard for you!

Jer.32.18

Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,

Jer.32.18

You're loyal in your steadfast love to thousands upon thousands--but you also make children live with the fallout from their parents' sins. Great and powerful God, named GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies,

Jer.32.18

You show love to thousands but bring the punishment for the fathers' sins into the laps of their children after them. O great and powerful God, whose name is the LORD Almighty,

Jer.32.18

You show lovingkindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them--the Great, the Mighty God, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

Jer.32.18

You are loving and kind to thousands, though children suffer for their parents' sins. You are the great and powerful God, the LORD Almighty.

Jer.32.19

Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

Jer.32.19

determined in purpose and relentless in following through, you see everything that men and women do and respond appropriately to the way they live, to the things they do.

Jer.32.19

great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds. Your eyes are open to all the ways of men; you reward everyone according to his conduct and as his deeds deserve.

Jer.32.19

You are great in counsel and mighty in work, for your eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, to give everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his doings.

Jer.32.19

You have all wisdom and do great and mighty miracles. You are very aware of the conduct of all people, and you reward them according to their deeds.

Jer.32.20

Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;

Jer.32.20

You performed signs and wonders in the country of Egypt and continue to do so right into the present, right here in Israel and everywhere else, too. You've made a reputation for yourself that doesn't diminish.

Jer.32.20

You performed miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt and have continued them to this day, both in Israel and among all mankind, and have gained the renown that is still yours.

Jer.32.20

You have set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, to this day, and in Israel and among other men; and You have made Yourself a name, as it is this day.

Jer.32.20

You performed miraculous signs and wonders in the land of Egypt--things still remembered to this day! And you have continued to do great miracles in Israel and all around the world. You have made your name very great, as it is today.

Jer.32.21

And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;

Jer.32.21

You brought your people Israel out of Egypt with signs and wonders--a powerful deliverance!-by merely stretching out your arm.

Jer.32.21

You brought your people Israel out of Egypt with signs and wonders, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with great terror.

Jer.32.21

You have brought Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and with great terror;

Jer.32.21

"You brought Israel out of Egypt with mighty signs and wonders, with great power and overwhelming terror.

Jer.32.22

And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;

Jer.32.22

You gave them this land and solemnly promised to their ancestors a bountiful and fertile land.

Jer.32.22

You gave them this land you had sworn to give their forefathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.

Jer.32.22

You have given them this land, of which You swore to their fathers to give them--"a land flowing with milk and honey."

Jer.32.22

You gave the people of Israel this land that you had promised their ancestors long before--a land flowing with milk and honey.

Jer.32.23

And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:

Jer.32.23

But when they entered the land and took it over, they didn't listen to you. They didn't do what you commanded. They wouldn't listen to a thing you told them. And so you brought this disaster on them.

Jer.32.23

They came in and took possession of it, but they did not obey you or follow your law; they did not do what you commanded them to do. So you brought all this disaster upon them.

Jer.32.23

And they came in and took possession of it, but they have not obeyed Your voice or walked in Your law. They have done nothing of all that You commanded them to do; therefore You have caused all this calamity to come upon them.

Jer.32.23

Our ancestors came and conquered it and lived in it, but they refused to obey you or follow your law. They have hardly done one thing you told them to! That is why you have sent this terrible disaster upon them.

Jer.32.24

Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.

Jer.32.24

Oh, look at the siege ramps already set in place to take the city. Killing and starvation and disease are on our doorstep. The Babylonians are attacking! The Word you spoke is coming to pass--it's daily news!

Jer.32.24

"See how the siege ramps are built up to take the city. Because of the sword, famine and plague, the city will be handed over to the Babylonians who are attacking it. What you said has happened, as you now see.

Jer.32.24

"Look, the siege mounds! They have come to the city to take it; and the city has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword and famine and pestilence. What You have spoken has happened; there You see it!

Jer.32.24

"See how the siege ramps have been built against the city walls! Because of war, famine, and disease, the city has been handed over to the Babylonians, who will conquer it. Everything has happened just as you said it would.

Jer.32.25

And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

Jer.32.25

And yet you, GOD, the Master, even though it is certain that the city will be turned over to the Babylonians, also told me, Buy the field. Pay for it in cash. And make sure there are witnesses.'" [JC]

Jer.32.25

And though the city will be handed over to the Babylonians, you, O Sovereign LORD, say to me, 'Buy the field with silver and have the transaction witnessed.'"

Jer.32.25

And You have said to me, O Lord GOD, "Buy the field for money, and take witnesses"!--yet the city has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans."'

Jer.32.25

And yet, O Sovereign LORD, you have told me to buy the field--paying good money for it before these witnesses--even though the city will soon belong to the Babylonians."

Jer.32.26

Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,

Jer.32.26

Then GOD's Message came again to Jeremiah:

Jer.32.26

Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:

Jer.32.26

Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,

Jer.32.26

Then this message came to Jeremiah from the LORD:

Jer.32.27

Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

Jer.32.27

"Stay alert! I am GOD, the God of everything living. Is there anything I can't do?

Jer.32.27

"I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

Jer.32.27

"Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?

Jer.32.27

"I am the LORD, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?

Jer.32.28

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:

Jer.32.28

So listen to GOD's Message: No doubt about it, I'm handing this city over to the Babylonians and Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. He'll take it.

Jer.32.28

Therefore, this is what the LORD says: I am about to hand this city over to the Babylonians and to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who will capture it.

Jer.32.28

Therefore thus says the LORD: "Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it.

Jer.32.28

I will hand this city over to the Babylonians and to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he will capture it.

Jer.32.29

And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.

Jer.32.29

The attacking Chaldeans will break through and burn the city down: All those houses whose roofs were used as altars for offerings to Baal and the worship of who knows how many other gods provoked me.

Jer.32.29

The Babylonians who are attacking this city will come in and set it on fire; they will burn it down, along with the houses where the people provoked me to anger by burning incense on the roofs to Baal and by pouring out drink offerings to other gods.

Jer.32.29

And the Chaldeans who fight against this city shall come and set fire to this city and burn it, with the houses on whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke Me to anger;

Jer.32.29

The Babylonians outside the walls will come in and set fire to the city. They will burn down all these houses, where the people caused my fury to rise by offering incense to Baal on the rooftops and by pouring out drink offerings to other gods.

Jer.32.30

For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.

Jer.32.30

It isn't as if this were the first time they had provoked me. The people of Israel and Judah have been doing this for a long time--doing what I hate, making me angry by the way they live." GOD's Decree.

Jer.32.30

"The people of Israel and Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth; indeed, the people of Israel have done nothing but provoke me with what their hands have made, declares the LORD.

Jer.32.30

because the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done only evil before Me from their youth. For the children of Israel have provoked Me only to anger with the work of their hands,' says the LORD.

Jer.32.30

Israel and Judah have done nothing but wrong since their earliest days. They have infuriated me with all their evil deeds," says the LORD.

Jer.32.31

For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,

Jer.32.31

"This city has made me angry from the day they built it, and now I've had my fill. I'm destroying it. I can't stand to look any longer

Jer.32.31

From the day it was built until now, this city has so aroused my anger and wrath that I must remove it from my sight.

Jer.32.31

"For this city has been to Me a provocation of My anger and My fury from the day that they built it, even to this day; so I will remove it from before My face

Jer.32.31

"From the time this city was built until now, it has done nothing but anger me, so I am determined to get rid of it.

Jer.32.32

Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Jer.32.32

at the wicked lives of the people of Israel and Judah, deliberately making me angry, the whole lot of them--kings and leaders and priests and preachers, in the country and in the city.

Jer.32.32

The people of Israel and Judah have provoked me by all the evil they have done-they, their kings and officials, their priests and prophets, the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem.

Jer.32.32

because of all the evil of the children of Israel and the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke Me to anger--they, their kings, their princes, their priests, their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Jer.32.32

"The sins of Israel and Judah--the sins of the people of Jerusalem, the kings, the officials, the priests, and the prophets--stir up my anger.

Jer.32.33

And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.

Jer.32.33

They've turned their backs on me--won't even look me in the face!-even though I took great pains to teach them how to live. They refused to listen, refused to be taught.

Jer.32.33

They turned their backs to me and not their faces; though I taught them again and again, they would not listen or respond to discipline.

Jer.32.33

And they have turned to Me the back, and not the face; though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction.

Jer.32.33

My people have turned their backs on me and have refused to return. Day after day, year after year, I taught them right from wrong, but they would not listen or obey.

Jer.32.34

But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.

Jer.32.34

Why, they even set up obscene god and goddess statues in the Temple built in my honor--an outrageous desecration!

Jer.32.34

They set up their abominable idols in the house that bears my Name and defiled it.

Jer.32.34

But they set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to defile it.

Jer.32.34

They have set up their abominable idols right in my own Temple, defiling it.

Jer.32.35

And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Jer.32.35

And then they went out and built shrines to the god Baal in the valley of Hinnom, where they burned their children in sacrifice to the god Molech--I can hardly conceive of such evil!-turning the whole country into one huge act of sin. [JC]

Jer.32.35

They built high places for Baal in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molech, though I never commanded, nor did it enter my mind, that they should do such a detestable thing and so make Judah sin.

Jer.32.35

And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.'

Jer.32.35

They have built pagan shrines to Baal in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and there they sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molech. I have never commanded such a horrible deed; it never even crossed my mind to command such a thing. What an incredible evil, causing Judah to sin so greatly!

Jer.32.36

And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;

Jer.32.36

"But there is also this Message from me, the GOD of Israel, to this city of which you have said, "In killing and starvation and disease this city will be delivered up to the king of Babylon':

Jer.32.36

"You are saying about this city, 'By the sword, famine and plague it will be handed over to the king of Babylon'; but this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:

Jer.32.36

"Now therefore, thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say, "It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

Jer.32.36

"Now I want to say something more about this city. You have been saying, `It will fall to the king of Babylon through war, famine, and disease.' But this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:

Jer.32.37

Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:

Jer.32.37

Watch for this! I will collect them from all the countries to which I will have driven them in my anger and rage and indignation. Yes, I'll bring them all back to this place and let them live here in peace.

Jer.32.37

I will surely gather them from all the lands where I banish them in my furious anger and great wrath; I will bring them back to this place and let them live in safety.

I will surely bring my people back again from all the countries where I will scatter them in my fury. I will bring them back to this very city and let them live in peace and safety.

Jer.32.38

And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

Jer.32.38

They will be my people, I will be their God.

Jer.32.38

They will be my people, and I will be their God.

Jer.32.38

They shall be My people, and I will be their God;

Jer.32.38

They will be my people, and I will be their God.

Jer.32.39

And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

Jer.32.39

I'll make them of one mind and heart, always honoring me, so that they can live good and whole lives, they and their children after them.

Jer.32.39

I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me for their own good and the good of their children after them.

Jer.32.39

then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them.

Jer.32.39

And I will give them one heart and mind to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants.

Jer.32.40

And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

Jer.32.40

What's more, I'll make a covenant with them that will last forever, a covenant to stick with them no matter what, and work for their good. I'll fill their hearts with a deep respect for me so they'll not even think of turning away from me.

Jer.32.40

I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.

Jer.32.40

And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me.

Jer.32.40

"And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, promising not to stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me.

Jer.32.41

Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

Jer.32.41

Oh how I'll rejoice in them! Oh how I'll delight in doing good things for them! Heart and soul, I'll plant them in this country and keep them here!'

Jer.32.41

I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.

Jer.32.41

Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land, with all My heart and with all My soul.'

Jer.32.41

I will rejoice in doing good to them and will faithfully and wholeheartedly replant them in this land.

Jer.32.42

For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.

Jer.32.42

"Yes, this is GOD's Message: "I will certainly bring this huge catastrophe on this people, but I will also usher in a wonderful life of prosperity. I promise.

Jer.32.42

"This is what the LORD says: As I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will give them all the prosperity I have promised them.

Jer.32.42

"For thus says the LORD: "Just as I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.

Jer.32.42

Just as I have sent all these calamities upon them, so I will do all the good I have promised them. I, the LORD, have spoken!

Jer.32.43

And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

Jer.32.43

Fields are going to be bought here again, yes, in this very country that you assume is going to end up desolate--gone to the dogs, unlivable, wrecked by the Babylonians.

Jer.32.43

Once more fields will be bought in this land of which you say, 'It is a desolate waste, without men or animals, for it has been handed over to the Babylonians.'

Jer.32.43

And fields will be bought in this land of which you say, "It is desolate, without man or beast; it has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans."

Jer.32.43

"Fields will again be bought and sold in this land about which you now say, `It has been ravaged by the Babylonians, a land where people and animals have all disappeared.'

Jer.32.44

Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.

Jer.32.44

Yes, people will buy farms again, and legally, with deeds of purchase, sealed documents, proper witnesses--and right here in the territory of Benjamin, and in the area around Jerusalem, around the villages of Judah and the hill country, the Shephelah and the Negev. I will restore everything that was lost.' GOD's Decree."

Jer.32.44

Fields will be bought for silver, and deeds will be signed, sealed and witnessed in the territory of Benjamin, in the villages around Jerusalem, in the towns of Judah and in the towns of the hill country, of the western foothills and of the Negev, because I will restore their fortunes, declares the LORD."

Jer.32.44

Men will buy fields for money, sign deeds and seal them, and take witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South; for I will cause their captives to return,' says the LORD."

Jer.32.44

Yes, fields will once again be bought and sold--deeds signed and sealed and witnessed--in the land of Benjamin and here in Jerusalem, in the towns of Judah and in the hill country, in the foothills of Judah and in the Negev, too. For someday I will restore prosperity to them. I, the LORD, have spoken!"
