Isa.65.1

I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.

Isa.65.1

"I've made myself available to those who haven't bothered to ask. I'm here, ready to be found by those who haven't bothered to look. I kept saying "I'm here, I'm right here' to a nation that ignored me.

Isa.65.1

"I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here am I.'

Isa.65.1

"I was sought by those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. I said, "Here I am, here I am,' To a nation that was not called by My name.

Isa.65.1

The LORD says, "People who never before inquired about me are now asking about me. I am being found by people who were not looking for me. To them I have said, `I am here!'

Isa.65.2

I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;

Isa.65.2

I reached out day after day to a people who turned their backs on me, People who make wrong turns, who insist on doing things their own way.

Isa.65.2

All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations-

Isa.65.2

I have stretched out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, Who walk in a way that is not good, According to their own thoughts;

Isa.65.2

"I opened my arms to my own people all day long, but they have rebelled. They follow their own evil paths and thoughts.

Isa.65.3

A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;

Isa.65.3

They get on my nerves, are rude to my face day after day, Make up their own kitchen religion, a potluck religious stew.

Isa.65.3

a people who continually provoke me to my very face, offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick;

Isa.65.3

A people who provoke Me to anger continually to My face; Who sacrifice in gardens, And burn incense on altars of brick;

Isa.65.3

All day long they insult me to my face by worshiping idols in their sacred gardens. They burn incense on the rooftops of their homes.

Isa.65.4

Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;

Isa.65.4

They spend the night in tombs to get messages from the dead, Eat forbidden foods and drink a witch's brew of potions and charms.

Isa.65.4

who sit among the graves and spend their nights keeping secret vigil; who eat the flesh of pigs, and whose pots hold broth of unclean meat;

Isa.65.4

Who sit among the graves, And spend the night in the tombs; Who eat swine's flesh, And the broth of abominable things is in their vessels;

Isa.65.4

At night they go out among the graves and secret places to worship evil spirits. They also eat pork and other forbidden foods.

Isa.65.5

Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

Isa.65.5

They say, "Keep your distance. Don't touch me. I'm holier than thou.' These people gag me. I can't stand their stench.

Isa.65.5

who say, 'Keep away; don't come near me, for I am too sacred for you!' Such people are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that keeps burning all day.

Isa.65.5

Who say, "Keep to yourself, Do not come near me, For I am holier than you!' These are smoke in My nostrils, A fire that burns all the day.

Isa.65.5

Yet they say to each other, `Don't come too close or you will defile me! I am holier than you!' They are a stench in my nostrils, an acrid smell that never goes away.

Isa.65.6

Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,

Isa.65.6

Look at this! Their sins are all written out--I have the list before me. I'm not putting up with this any longer. I'll pay them the wages

Isa.65.6

"See, it stands written before me: I will not keep silent but will pay back in full; I will pay it back into their laps-

Isa.65.6

"Behold, it is written before Me: I will not keep silence, but will repay-- Even repay into their bosom--

Isa.65.6

"Look, my decree is written out in front of me: I will not stand silent; I will repay them in full! Yes, I will repay them--

Isa.65.7

Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.

Isa.65.7

They have coming for their sins. And for the sins of their parents lumped in, a bonus." GOD says so. "Because they've practiced their blasphemous worship, mocking me at their hillside shrines, I'll let loose the consequences and pay them in full for their actions." [JC]

Isa.65.7

both your sins and the sins of your fathers," says the LORD. "Because they burned sacrifices on the mountains and defied me on the hills, I will measure into their laps the full payment for their former deeds."

Isa.65.7

Your iniquities and the iniquities of your fathers together," Says the LORD, "Who have burned incense on the mountains And blasphemed Me on the hills; Therefore I will measure their former work into their bosom."

Isa.65.7

both for their own sins and for those of their ancestors," says the LORD. "For they also burned incense on the mountains and insulted me on the hills. I will pay them back in full!

Isa.65.8

Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all.

Isa.65.8

GOD's Message: "But just as one bad apple doesn't ruin the whole bushel, there are still plenty of good apples left. So I'll preserve those in Israel who obey me. I won't destroy the whole nation.

Isa.65.8

This is what the LORD says: "As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes and men say, 'Don't destroy it, there is yet some good in it,' so will I do in behalf of my servants; I will not destroy them all.

Isa.65.8

Thus says the LORD: "As the new wine is found in the cluster, And one says, "Do not destroy it, For a blessing is in it,' So will I do for My servants' sake, That I may not destroy them all.

Isa.65.8

"But I will not destroy them all," says the LORD. "For just as good grapes are found among a cluster of bad ones (and someone will say, `Don't throw them all away--there are some good grapes there!'), so I will not destroy all Israel. For I still have true servants there.

Isa.65.9

And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

Isa.65.9

I'll bring out my true children from Jacob and the heirs of my mountains from Judah. My chosen will inherit the land, my servants will move in.

Isa.65.9

I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah those who will possess my mountains; my chosen people will inherit them, and there will my servants live.

Isa.65.9

I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, And from Judah an heir of My mountains; My elect shall inherit it, And My servants shall dwell there.

Isa.65.9

I will preserve a remnant of the people of Israel and of Judah to possess my land. Those I choose will inherit it and serve me there.

Isa.65.10

And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me.

Isa.65.10

The lush valley of Sharon in the west will be a pasture for flocks, And in the east, the valley of Achor, a place for herds to graze. These will be for the people who bothered to reach out to me, who wanted me in their lives, who actually bothered to look for me. [JC]

Isa.65.10

Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for my people who seek me.

Isa.65.10

Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, And the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down, For My people who have sought Me.

Isa.65.10

For my people who have searched for me, the plain of Sharon will again be filled with flocks, and the valley of Achor will be a place to pasture herds.

Isa.65.11

But ye are they that forsake the LORD, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.

Isa.65.11

"But you who abandon me, your GOD, who forget the holy mountains, Who hold dinners for Lady Luck and throw cocktail parties for Sir Fate,

Isa.65.11

"But as for you who forsake the LORD and forget my holy mountain, who spread a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny,

Isa.65.11

"But you are those who forsake the LORD, Who forget My holy mountain, Who prepare a table for Gad, And who furnish a drink offering for Meni.

Isa.65.11

"But because the rest of you have forsaken the LORD and his Temple and worship the gods of Fate and Destiny,

Isa.65.12

Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.

Isa.65.12

Well, you asked for it. Fate it will be: your destiny, Death. For when I invited you, you ignored me; when I spoke to you, you brushed me off. You did the very things I exposed as evil; you chose what I hate."

Isa.65.12

I will destine you for the sword, and you will all bend down for the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."

Isa.65.12

Therefore I will number you for the sword, And you shall all bow down to the slaughter; Because, when I called, you did not answer; When I spoke, you did not hear, But did evil before My eyes, And chose that in which I do not delight."

Isa.65.12

I will `destine' you to the sword. All of you will bow before the executioner, for when I called, you did not answer. When I spoke, you did not listen. You deliberately sinned--before my very eyes--and chose to do what you know I despise."

Isa.65.13

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:

Isa.65.13

Therefore, this is the Message from the Master, GOD: "My servants will eat, and you'll go hungry; My servants will drink, and you'll go thirsty; My servants will rejoice, and you'll hang your heads.

Isa.65.13

Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame.

Isa.65.13

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, My servants shall eat, But you shall be hungry; Behold, My servants shall drink, But you shall be thirsty; Behold, My servants shall rejoice, But you shall be ashamed;

Isa.65.13

Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "You will starve, but my servants will eat. You will be thirsty, but they will drink. You will be sad and ashamed, but they will rejoice.

Isa.65.14

Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

Isa.65.14

My servants will laugh from full hearts, and you'll cry out heartbroken, yes, wail from crushed spirits.

Isa.65.14

My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.

Isa.65.14

Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart, But you shall cry for sorrow of heart, And wail for grief of spirit.

Isa.65.14

You will cry in sorrow and despair, while my servants sing for joy.

Isa.65.15

And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:

Isa.65.15

Your legacy to my chosen will be your name reduced to a cussword. I, GOD, will put you to death and give a new name to my servants.

Isa.65.15

You will leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse; the Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.

Isa.65.15

You shall leave your name as a curse to My chosen; For the Lord GOD will slay you, And call His servants by another name;

Isa.65.15

Your name will be a curse word among my people, for the Sovereign LORD will destroy you and call his true servants by another name.

Isa.65.16

That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.

Isa.65.16

Then whoever prays a blessing in the land will use my faithful name for the blessing, And whoever takes an oath in the land will use my faithful name for the oath, Because the earlier troubles are gone and forgotten, banished far from my sight.

Isa.65.16

Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth; he who takes an oath in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.

Isa.65.16

So that he who blesses himself in the earth Shall bless himself in the God of truth; And he who swears in the earth Shall swear by the God of truth; Because the former troubles are forgotten, And because they are hidden from My eyes.

Isa.65.16

All who invoke a blessing or take an oath will do so by the God of truth. For I will put aside my anger and forget the evil of earlier days.

Isa.65.17

For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

Isa.65.17

"Pay close attention now: I'm creating new heavens and a new earth. All the earlier troubles, chaos, and pain are things of the past, to be forgotten.

Isa.65.17

"Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.

Isa.65.17

"For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

Isa.65.17

"Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth--so wonderful that no one will even think about the old ones anymore.

Isa.65.18

But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

Isa.65.18

Look ahead with joy. Anticipate what I'm creating: I'll create Jerusalem as sheer joy, create my people as pure delight.

Isa.65.18

But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy.

Isa.65.18

But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; For behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing, And her people a joy.

Isa.65.18

Be glad; rejoice forever in my creation! And look! I will create Jerusalem as a place of happiness. Her people will be a source of joy.

Isa.65.19

And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

Isa.65.19

I'll take joy in Jerusalem, take delight in my people: No more sounds of weeping in the city, no cries of anguish;

Isa.65.19

I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.

Isa.65.19

I will rejoice in Jerusalem, And joy in My people; The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, Nor the voice of crying.

Isa.65.19

I will rejoice in Jerusalem and delight in my people. And the sound of weeping and crying will be heard no more.

Isa.65.20

There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

Isa.65.20

No more babies dying in the cradle, or old people who don't enjoy a full lifetime; One-hundredth birthdays will be considered normal--anything less will seem like a cheat.

"Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed.

Isa.65.20

"No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; For the child shall die one hundred years old, But the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.

Isa.65.20

"No longer will babies die when only a few days old. No longer will adults die before they have lived a full life. No longer will people be considered old at one hundred! Only sinners will die that young!

Isa.65.21

And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

Isa.65.21

They'll build houses and move in. They'll plant fields and eat what they grow.

Isa.65.21

They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

Isa.65.21

They shall build houses and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

In those days, people will live in the houses they build and eat the fruit of their own vineyards.

Isa.65.22

They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

Isa.65.22

No more building a house that some outsider takes over, No more planting fields that some enemy confiscates, For my people will be as long-lived as trees, my chosen ones will have satisfaction in their work.

Isa.65.22

No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.

They shall not build and another inhabit; They shall not plant and another eat; For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, And My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

Isa.65.22

It will not be like the past, when invaders took the houses and confiscated the vineyards. For my people will live as long as trees and will have time to enjoy their hard-won gains.

Isa.65.23

They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.

Isa.65.23

They won't work and have nothing come of it, they won't have children snatched out from under them. For they themselves are plantings blessed by GOD, with their children and grandchildren likewise GOD-blessed.

Isa.65.23

They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them.

Isa.65.23

They shall not labor in vain, Nor bring forth children for trouble; For they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the LORD, And their offspring with them.

Isa.65.23

They will not work in vain, and their children will not be doomed to misfortune. For they are people blessed by the LORD, and their children, too, will be blessed.

Isa.65.24

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

Isa.65.24

Before they call out, I'll answer. Before they've finished speaking, I'll have heard.

Isa.65.24

Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.

Isa.65.24

"It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.

Isa.65.24

I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking to me about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!

Isa.65.25

The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

Isa.65.25

Wolf and lamb will graze the same meadow, lion and ox eat straw from the same trough, but snakes--they'll get a diet of dirt! Neither animal nor human will hurt or kill anywhere on my Holy Mountain," says GOD.

Isa.65.25

The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the LORD.

The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, The lion shall eat straw like the ox, And dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain," Says the LORD.

Isa.65.25

The wolf and lamb will feed together. The lion will eat straw like the ox. Poisonous snakes will strike no more. In those days, no one will be hurt or destroyed on my holy mountain. I, the LORD, have spoken!"
