Isa.54.1

Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.

Isa.54.1

"Sing, barren woman, who has never had a baby. Fill the air with song, you who've never experienced childbirth! You're ending up with far more children than all those childbearing women." GOD says so!

Isa.54.1

"Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband," says the LORD.

Isa.54.1

"Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate Than the children of the married woman," says the LORD.

Isa.54.1

"Sing, O childless woman! Break forth into loud and joyful song, O Jerusalem, even though you never gave birth to a child. For the woman who could bear no children now has more than all the other women," says the LORD.

Isa.54.2

Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

"Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep.

Isa.54.2

"Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.

Isa.54.2

"Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes.

Isa.54.2

"Enlarge your house; build an addition; spread out your home!

Isa.54.3

For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

Isa.54.3

You're going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family. You're going to take over whole nations; you're going to resettle abandoned cities.

Isa.54.3

For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.

Isa.54.3

For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited.

Isa.54.3

For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your descendants will take over other nations and live in their cities.

Isa.54.4

Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.

Isa.54.4

Don't be afraid--you're not going to be embarrassed. Don't hold back--you're not going to come up short. You'll forget all about the humiliations of your youth, and the indignities of being a widow will fade from memory.

Isa.54.4

"Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.

Isa.54.4

"Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; For you will forget the shame of your youth, And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.

Isa.54.4

"Fear not; you will no longer live in shame. The shame of your youth and the sorrows of widowhood will be remembered no more,

Isa.54.5

For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

Isa.54.5

For your Maker is your bridegroom, his name, GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies! Your Redeemer is The Holy of Israel, known as God of the whole earth.

Isa.54.5

For your Maker is your husband- the LORD Almighty is his name- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

Isa.54.5

For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.

Isa.54.5

for your Creator will be your husband. The LORD Almighty is his name! He is your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, the God of all the earth.

Isa.54.6

For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.

Isa.54.6

You were like an abandoned wife, devastated with grief, and GOD welcomed you back, Like a woman married young and then left," says your God.

Isa.54.6

The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit- a wife who married young, only to be rejected," says your God.

Isa.54.6

For the LORD has called you Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, Like a youthful wife when you were refused," Says your God.

Isa.54.6

For the LORD has called you back from your grief--as though you were a young wife abandoned by her husband," says your God.

Isa.54.7

For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

Isa.54.7

Your Redeemer GOD says: "I left you, but only for a moment. Now, with enormous compassion, I'm bringing you back.

Isa.54.7

"For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back.

Isa.54.7

"For a mere moment I have forsaken you, But with great mercies I will gather you.

Isa.54.7

"For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with great compassion I will take you back.

Isa.54.8

In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

Isa.54.8

In an outburst of anger I turned my back on you--but only for a moment. It's with lasting love that I'm tenderly caring for you.

Isa.54.8

In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you," says the LORD your Redeemer.

Isa.54.8

With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you," Says the LORD, your Redeemer.

Isa.54.8

In a moment of anger I turned my face away for a little while. But with everlasting love I will have compassion on you," says the LORD, your Redeemer.

Isa.54.9

For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.

Isa.54.9

"This exile is just like the days of Noah for me: I promised then that the waters of Noah would never again flood the earth. I'm promising now no more anger, no more dressing you down.

Isa.54.9

"To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.

Isa.54.9

"For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.

Isa.54.9

"Just as I swore in the time of Noah that I would never again let a flood cover the earth and destroy its life, so now I swear that I will never again pour out my anger on you.

Isa.54.10

For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.

Isa.54.10

For even if the mountains walk away and the hills fall to pieces, My love won't walk away from you, my covenant commitment of peace won't fall apart." The GOD who has compassion on you says so.

Isa.54.10

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

Isa.54.10

For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed," Says the LORD, who has mercy on you.

Isa.54.10

For the mountains may depart and the hills disappear, but even then I will remain loyal to you. My covenant of blessing will never be broken," says the LORD, who has mercy on you.

Isa.54.11

O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.

Isa.54.11

"Afflicted city, storm-battered, unpitied: I'm about to rebuild you with stones of turquoise, Lay your foundations with sapphires,

Isa.54.11

"O afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will build you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with sapphires.

Isa.54.11

"O you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not comforted, Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, And lay your foundations with sapphires.

Isa.54.11

"O storm-battered city, troubled and desolate! I will rebuild you on a foundation of sapphires and make the walls of your houses from precious jewels.

Isa.54.12

And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.

Isa.54.12

construct your towers with rubies, Your gates with jewels, and all your walls with precious stones.

Isa.54.12

I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.

Isa.54.12

I will make your pinnacles of rubies, Your gates of crystal, And all your walls of precious stones.

Isa.54.12

I will make your towers of sparkling rubies and your gates and walls of shining gems.

Isa.54.13

And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

Isa.54.13

All your children will have GOD for their teacher--what a mentor for your children!

Isa.54.13

All your sons will be taught by the LORD, and great will be your children's peace.

Isa.54.13

All your children shall be taught by the LORD, And great shall be the peace of your children.

Isa.54.13

I will teach all your citizens, and their prosperity will be great.

Isa.54.14

In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

Isa.54.14

You'll be built solid, grounded in righteousness, far from any trouble--nothing to fear! far from terror--it won't even come close!

Isa.54.14

In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you.

Isa.54.14

In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you.

Isa.54.14

You will live under a government that is just and fair. Your enemies will stay far away; you will live in peace. Terror will not come near.

Isa.54.15

Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.

Isa.54.15

If anyone attacks you, don't for a moment suppose that I sent them, And if any should attack, nothing will come of it.

Isa.54.15

If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you.

Isa.54.15

Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.

Isa.54.15

If any nation comes to fight you, it will not be because I sent them to punish you. Your enemies will always be defeated because I am on your side.

Isa.54.16

Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.

Isa.54.16

I create the blacksmith who fires up his forge and makes a weapon designed to kill. I also create the destroyer--

Isa.54.16

"See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc;

Isa.54.16

"Behold, I have created the blacksmith Who blows the coals in the fire, Who brings forth an instrument for his work; And I have created the spoiler to destroy.

Isa.54.16

I have created the blacksmith who fans the coals beneath the forge and makes the weapons of destruction. And I have created the armies that destroy.

Isa.54.17

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Isa.54.17

but no weapon that can hurt you has ever been forged. Any accuser who takes you to court will be dismissed as a liar. This is what GOD's servants can expect. I'll see to it that everything works out for the best." GOD's Decree.

Isa.54.17

no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD.

Isa.54.17

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the LORD.

Isa.54.17

But in that coming day, no weapon turned against you will succeed. And everyone who tells lies in court will be brought to justice. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD; their vindication will come from me. I, the LORD, have spoken!
