Prov.2.1

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

Good friend, take to heart what I'm telling you; collect my counsels and guard them with your life.

My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,

My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you,

My child, listen to me and treasure my instructions.

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

Tune your ears to the world of Wisdom; set your heart on a life of Understanding.

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

That's right--if you make Insight your priority, and won't take no for an answer,

and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,

Prov.2.3

Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding,

Cry out for insight and understanding.

Prov.2.4

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Searching for it like a prospector panning for gold, like an adventurer on a treasure hunt,

and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,

Prov.2.4

If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures;

Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure.

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Believe me, before you know it Fear-of-GOD will be yours; you'll have come upon the Knowledge of God.

Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God.

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

And here's why: GOD gives out Wisdom free, is plainspoken in Knowledge and Understanding.

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

He's a rich mine of Common Sense for those who live well, a personal bodyguard to the candid and sincere.

He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,

He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;

He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield, protecting those who walk with integrity.

He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

He keeps his eye on all who live honestly, and pays special attention to his loyally committed ones.

for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.

He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.

He guards the paths of justice and protects those who are faithful to him.

Prov.2.9

Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

So now you can pick out what's true and fair, find all the good trails!

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

Lady Wisdom will be your close friend, and Brother Knowledge your pleasant companion.

To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

They'll keep you from making wrong turns, or following the bad directions

Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,

To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things,

Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose speech is corrupt.

Prov.2.13

Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

Prov.2.13

Of those who are lost themselves and can't tell a trail from a tumbleweed,

Prov.2.13

who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways,

Prov.2.13

From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness;

Prov.2.13

These people turn from right ways to walk down dark and evil paths.

Prov.2.14

Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

Prov.2.14

These losers who make a game of evil and throw parties to celebrate perversity,

Prov.2.14

who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,

Prov.2.14

Who rejoice in doing evil, And delight in the perversity of the wicked;

Prov.2.14

They rejoice in doing wrong, and they enjoy evil as it turns things upside down.

Prov.2.15

Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

Prov.2.15

Traveling paths that go nowhere, wandering in a maze of detours and dead ends.

Prov.2.15

whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.

Prov.2.15

Whose ways are crooked, And who are devious in their paths;

Prov.2.15

What they do is crooked, and their ways are wrong.

Prov.2.16

To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

Prov.2.16

Wise friends will rescue you from the Temptress--that smooth-talking Seductress

Prov.2.16

It will save you also from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words,

Prov.2.16

To deliver you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words,

Prov.2.16

Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the adulterous woman.

Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

Who's faithless to the husband she married years ago, never gave a second thought to her promises before God.

who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.

Who forsakes the companion of her youth, And forgets the covenant of her God.

She has abandoned her husband and ignores the covenant she made before God.

Prov.2.18

For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

Her whole way of life is doomed; every step she takes brings her closer to hell.

For her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead.

Entering her house leads to death; it is the road to hell.

None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

No one who joins her company ever comes back, ever sets foot on the path to real living.

None who go to her return, Nor do they regain the paths of life--

The man who visits her is doomed. He will never reach the paths of life.

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

So--join the company of good men and women, keep your feet on the tried and true paths.

For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

It's the men who walk straight who will settle this land, the women with integrity who will last here.

For only the upright will live in the land, and those who have integrity will remain in it.

But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

The corrupt will lose their lives; the dishonest will be gone for good.

but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.

But the wicked will be removed from the land, and the treacherous will be destroyed.
