Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.

Why do you brag of evil, "Big Man"? God's mercy carries the day.

Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?

You call yourself a hero, do you? Why boast about this crime of yours, you who have disgraced God's people?

Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

You scheme catastrophe; your tongue cuts razor-sharp, artisan in lies.

Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit.

All day long you plot destruction. Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor; you're an expert at telling lies.

Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.

You love evil more than good, you call black white.

You love to say things that harm others, you liar!

God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.

God will tear you limb from limb, sweep you up and throw you out, Pull you up by the roots from the land of life.

Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah

God shall likewise destroy you forever; He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, And uproot you from the land of the living.Selah

But God will strike you down once and for all. He will pull you from your home and drag you from the land of the living.

The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:

Good people will watch and worship. They'll laugh in relief:

The righteous will see it and be amazed. They will laugh and say,

Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

"Big Man bet on the wrong horse, trusted in big money, made his living from catastrophe."

"Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!"

"Here is the man who did not make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness."

"Look what happens to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness."

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

And I'm an olive tree, growing green in God's house. I trusted in the generous mercy of God then and now.

But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever.

I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.

I thank you always that you went into action. And I'll stay right here, your good name my hope, in company with your faithful friends.
