Ps.50.1

The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

Ps.50.1

The God of gods--it's GOD!-speaks out, shouts, "Earth!" welcomes the sun in the east, farewells the disappearing sun in the west.

Ps.50.1

The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets.

The Mighty One, God the LORD, Has spoken and called the earth From the rising of the sun to its going down.

The mighty God, the LORD, has spoken; he has summoned all humanity from east to west!

Ps.50.2

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.

Ps.50.2

From the dazzle of Zion, God blazes into view.

Ps.50.2

From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.

Ps.50.2

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God will shine forth.

Ps.50.2

From Mount Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines in glorious radiance.

Ps.50.3

Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

Our God makes his entrance, he's not shy in his coming. Starbursts of fireworks precede him.

Ps.50.3

Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.

Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent; A fire shall devour before Him, And it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.

Our God approaches with the noise of thunder. Fire devours everything in his way, and a great storm rages around him.

He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.

He summons heaven and earth as a jury, he's taking his people to court:

Heaven and earth will be his witnesses as he judges his people:

Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

"Round up my saints who swore on the Bible their loyalty to me."

"Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice."

"Gather My saints together to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice."

Ps.50.5

"Bring my faithful people to me--those who made a covenant with me by giving sacrifices."

Ps.50.6

And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.

Ps.50.6

The whole cosmos attests to the fairness of this court, that here God is judge.

Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God.

"Are you listening, dear people? I'm getting ready to speak; Israel, I'm about ready to bring you to trial. This is God, your God, speaking to you.

"O my people, listen as I speak. Here are my charges against you, O Israel: I am God, your God!

Ps.50.8

I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.

Ps.50.8

I don't find fault with your acts of worship, the frequent burnt sacrifices you offer.

Ps.50.8

I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.

I will not rebuke you for your sacrifices Or your burnt offerings, Which are continually before Me.

Ps.50.8

I have no complaint about your sacrifices or the burnt offerings you constantly bring to my altar.

Ps.50.9

I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.

But why should I want your blue-ribbon bull, or more and more goats from your herds?

Ps.50.9

I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens,

Ps.50.9

I will not take a bull from your house, Nor goats out of your folds.

Ps.50.9

But I want no more bulls from your barns; I want no more goats from your pens.

Ps.50.10

For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.

Every creature in the forest is mine, the wild animals on all the mountains.

I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.

I know every mountain bird by name; the scampering field mice are my friends.

If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.

If I get hungry, do you think I'd tell you? All creation and its bounty are mine.

Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?

Do you think I feast on venison? or drink draughts of goats' blood?

I don't need the bulls you sacrifice; I don't need the blood of goats.

Ps.50.14

Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:

Spread for me a banquet of praise, serve High God a feast of kept promises,

Ps.50.14

Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High,

Ps.50.14

Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High.

Ps.50.14

What I want instead is your true thanks to God; I want you to fulfill your vows to the Most High.

And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

And call for help when you're in trouble--I'll help you, and you'll honor me."

But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?

Next, God calls up the wicked: "What are you up to, quoting my laws, talking like we are good friends?

But to the wicked, God says: "What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips?

But to the wicked God says: "What right have you to declare My statutes, Or take My covenant in your mouth,

Ps.50.16

But God says to the wicked: "Recite my laws no longer, and don't pretend that you obey me.

Ps.50.17

Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.

Ps.50.17

You never answer the door when I call; you treat my words like garbage.

Ps.50.17

You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you.

Ps.50.17

Seeing you hate instruction And cast My words behind you?

Ps.50.17

For you refuse my discipline and treat my laws like trash.

Ps.50.18

When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.

Ps.50.18

If you find a thief, you make him your buddy; adulterers are your friends of choice.

Ps.50.18

When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers.

Ps.50.18

When you saw a thief, you consented with him, And have been a partaker with adulterers.

Ps.50.18

When you see a thief, you help him, and you spend your time with adulterers.

Ps.50.19

Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.

Ps.50.19

Your mouth drools filth; lying is a serious art form with you.

Ps.50.19

You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.

Ps.50.19

You give your mouth to evil, And your tongue frames deceit.

Ps.50.19

Your mouths are filled with wickedness, and your tongues are full of lies.

Ps.50.20

Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son.

Ps.50.20

You stab your own brother in the back, rip off your little sister.

Ps.50.20

You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son.

Ps.50.20

You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother's son.

Ps.50.20

You sit around and slander a brother--your own mother's son.

Ps.50.21

These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.

I kept a quiet patience while you did these things; you thought I went along with your game. I'm calling you on the carpet, now, laying your wickedness out in plain sight.

These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face.

While you did all this, I remained silent, and you thought I didn't care. But now I will rebuke you, listing all my charges against you.

Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

"Time's up for playing fast and loose with me. I'm ready to pass sentence, and there's no help in sight!

"Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue:

"Now consider this, you who forget God, Lest I tear you in pieces, And there be none to deliver:

Repent, all of you who ignore me, or I will tear you apart, and no one will help you.

Ps.50.23

Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

Ps.50.23

It's the praising life that honors me. As soon as you set your foot on the Way, I'll show you my salvation."

He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God."

Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God."

Ps.50.23

But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God."
