Ps.17.1

Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

Ps.17.1

Listen while I build my case, GOD, the most honest prayer you'll ever hear.

Ps.17.1

Hear, O LORD, my righteous plea; listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer- it does not rise from deceitful lips.

Ps.17.1

Hear a just cause, O LORD, Attend to my cry; Give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips.

Ps.17.1

O LORD, hear my plea for justice. Listen to my cry for help. Pay attention to my prayer, for it comes from an honest heart.

Ps.17.2

Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

Ps.17.2

Show the world I'm innocent--in your heart you know I am.

Ps.17.2

May my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right.

Ps.17.2

Let my vindication come from Your presence; Let Your eyes look on the things that are upright.

Ps.17.2

Declare me innocent, for you know those who do right.

Ps.17.3

Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

Ps.17.3

Go ahead, examine me from inside out, surprise me in the middle of the night--You'll find I'm just what I say I am. My words don't run loose.

Ps.17.3

Though you probe my heart and examine me at night, though you test me, you will find nothing; I have resolved that my mouth will not sin.

Ps.17.3

You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

Ps.17.3

You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night. You have scrutinized me and found nothing amiss, for I am determined not to sin in what I say.

Ps.17.4

Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

Ps.17.4

I'm not trying to get my way in the world's way. I'm trying to get your way, your Word's way.

Ps.17.4

As for the deeds of men- by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.

Ps.17.4

Concerning the works of men, By the word of Your lips, I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer.

Ps.17.4

I have followed your commands, which have kept me from going along with cruel and evil people.

Ps.17.5

Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

Ps.17.5

I'm staying on your trail; I'm putting one foot In front of the other. I'm not giving up.

Ps.17.5

My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not slipped.

Ps.17.5

Uphold my steps in Your paths, That my footsteps may not slip.

Ps.17.5

My steps have stayed on your path; I have not wavered from following you.

Ps.17.6

I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

I call to you, God, because I'm sure of an answer. So--answer! bend your ear! listen sharp!

I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.

I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.

I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.

Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

Ps.17.7

Paint grace--graffiti on the fences; take in your frightened children who Are running from the neighborhood bullies straight to you.

Show the wonder of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.

Ps.17.7

Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You From those who rise up against them.

Ps.17.7

Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. You save with your strength those who seek refuge from their enemies.

Ps.17.8

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

Keep your eye on me; hide me under your cool wing feathers

Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings

Ps.17.8

Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings,

Ps.17.8

Guard me as the apple of your eye. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.

Ps.17.9

From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

Ps.17.9

From the wicked who are out to get me, from mortal enemies closing in.

Ps.17.9

from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.

From the wicked who oppress me, From my deadly enemies who surround me.

Protect me from wicked people who attack me, from murderous enemies who surround me.

Ps.17.10

They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

Ps.17.10

Their hearts are hard as nails, their mouths blast hot air.

Ps.17.10

They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance.

Ps.17.10

They have closed up their fat hearts; With their mouths they speak proudly.

Ps.17.10

They are without pity. Listen to their boasting.

Ps.17.11

They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

They are after me, nipping my heels, determined to bring me down,

Ps.17.11

They have tracked me down, they now surround me, with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground.

They have now surrounded us in our steps; They have set their eyes, crouching down to the earth,

Ps.17.11

They track me down, surround me, and throw me to the ground.

Ps.17.12

Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

Ps.17.12

Lions ready to rip me apart, young lions poised to pounce.

Ps.17.12

They are like a lion hungry for prey, like a great lion crouching in cover.

Ps.17.12

As a lion is eager to tear his prey, And like a young lion lurking in secret places.

Ps.17.12

They are like hungry lions, eager to tear me apart--like young lions in hiding, waiting for their chance.

Ps.17.13

Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

Ps.17.13

Up, GOD: beard them! break them! By your sword, free me from their clutches;

Ps.17.13

Rise up, O LORD, confront them, bring them down; rescue me from the wicked by your sword.

Arise, O LORD, Confront him, cast him down; Deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword,

Ps.17.13

Arise, O LORD! Stand against them and bring them to their knees! Rescue me from the wicked with your sword!

Ps.17.14

From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

Ps.17.14

Barehanded, GOD, break these mortals, these flat--earth people who can't think beyond today. I'd like to see their bellies swollen with famine food, The weeds they've sown harvested and baked into famine bread, With second helpings for their children and crusts for their babies to chew on.

Ps.17.14

O LORD, by your hand save me from such men, from men of this world whose reward is in this life. You still the hunger of those you cherish; their sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.

Ps.17.14

With Your hand from men, O LORD, From men of the world who have their portion in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure. They are satisfied with children, And leave the rest of their possession for their babes.

Ps.17.14

Save me by your mighty hand, O LORD, from those whose only concern is earthly gain. May they have their punishment in full. May their children inherit more of the same, and may the judgment continue to their children's children.

Ps.17.15

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Ps.17.15

And me? I plan on looking you full in the face. When I get up, I'll see your full stature and live heaven on earth. A David song, which he sang to God after being saved from all his enemies and from Saul.

Ps.17.15

And I-in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.

Ps.17.15

As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.

Ps.17.15

But because I have done what is right, I will see you. When I awake, I will be fully satisfied, for I will see you face to face.
