1Chr.17.1

Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.

1Chr.17.1

After the king had made himself at home, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Look at this: Here I am comfortable in a luxurious palace of cedar and the Chest of the Covenant of GOD sits under a tent."

1Chr.17.1

After David was settled in his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am, living in a palace of cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent."

1Chr.17.1

Now it came to pass, when David was dwelling in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under tent curtains."

1Chr.17.1

Now when David was settled in his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am living in this beautiful cedar palace, but the Ark of the LORD's covenant is out in a tent!"

1Chr.17.2

Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.

1Chr.17.2

Nathan told David, "Whatever is on your heart, go and do it; God is with you."

1Chr.17.2

Nathan replied to David, "Whatever you have in mind, do it, for God is with you."

1Chr.17.2

Then Nathan said to David, "Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you."

1Chr.17.2

Nathan replied, "Go ahead with what you have in mind, for God is with you."

1Chr.17.3

And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

1Chr.17.3

But that night, the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

1Chr.17.3

That night the word of God came to Nathan, saying:

1Chr.17.3

But it happened that night that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

1Chr.17.3

But that same night God said to Nathan,

1Chr.17.4

Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:

1Chr.17.4

"Go and tell my servant David, This is GOD's word on the matter: You will not build me a "house' to live in.

1Chr.17.4

"Go and tell my servant David, 'This is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build me a house to dwell in.

1Chr.17.4

"Go and tell My servant David, "Thus says the LORD: "You shall not build Me a house to dwell in.

1Chr.17.4

"Go and tell my servant David, `This is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build me a temple to live in.

1Chr.17.5

For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.

1Chr.17.5

Why, I haven't lived in a "house' from the time I brought up the children of Israel from Egypt till now; I've gone from one tent and makeshift shelter to another.

1Chr.17.5

I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt to this day. I have moved from one tent site to another, from one dwelling place to another.

1Chr.17.5

For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought up Israel, even to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.

1Chr.17.5

I have never lived in a temple, from the day I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until now. My home has always been a tent, moving from one place to another.

1Chr.17.6

Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?

1Chr.17.6

In all my travels with all Israel, did I ever say to any of the leaders I commanded to shepherd Israel, "Why haven't you built me a house of cedar?'

1Chr.17.6

Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their leaders whom I commanded to shepherd my people, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?"'

1Chr.17.6

Wherever I have moved about with all Israel, have I ever spoken a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people, saying, "Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?""

1Chr.17.6

And I never once complained to Israel's leaders, the shepherds of my people. I have never asked them, "Why haven't you built me a beautiful cedar temple?"'

1Chr.17.7

Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:

1Chr.17.7

"So here is what you are to tell my servant David: The GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies has this word for you: I took you from the pasture, tagging after sheep, and made you prince over my people Israel.

1Chr.17.7

"Now then, tell my servant David, 'This is what the LORD Almighty says: I took you from the pasture and from following the flock, to be ruler over my people Israel.

1Chr.17.7

Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, "Thus says the LORD of hosts: "I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people Israel.

1Chr.17.7

"Now go and say to my servant David, `This is what the LORD Almighty says: I chose you to lead my people Israel when you were just a shepherd boy, tending your sheep out in the pasture.

1Chr.17.8

And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.

1Chr.17.8

I was with you everywhere you went and mowed your enemies down before you; and now I'm about to make you famous, ranked with the great names on earth.

1Chr.17.8

I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name like the names of the greatest men of the earth.

1Chr.17.8

And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a name like the name of the great men who are on the earth.

1Chr.17.8

I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have destroyed all your enemies. Now I will make your name famous throughout the earth!

1Chr.17.9

Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,

1Chr.17.9

I'm going to set aside a place for my people Israel and plant them there so they'll have their own home and not be knocked around anymore; nor will evil nations afflict them as they always have,

1Chr.17.9

And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning

1Chr.17.9

Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously,

1Chr.17.9

And I have provided a permanent homeland for my people Israel, a secure place where they will never be disturbed. It will be their own land where wicked nations won't oppress them as they did in the past,

1Chr.17.10

And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.

1Chr.17.10

even during the days I set judges over my people Israel. And finally, I'm going to conquer all your enemies. "And now I'm telling you this: GOD himself will build you a house!

1Chr.17.10

and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also subdue all your enemies. "'I declare to you that the LORD will build a house for you:

1Chr.17.10

since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel. Also I will subdue all your enemies. Furthermore I tell you that the LORD will build you a house.

1Chr.17.10

from the time I appointed judges to rule my people. And I will subdue all your enemies. "`And now I declare that the LORD will build a house for you--a dynasty of kings!

1Chr.17.11

And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

1Chr.17.11

When your life is complete and you're buried with your ancestors, then I'll raise up your child to succeed you, a child from your own body, and I'll firmly establish his rule.

1Chr.17.11

When your days are over and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.

1Chr.17.11

And it shall be, when your days are fulfilled, when you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your seed after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

1Chr.17.11

For when you die, I will raise up one of your sons, and I will make his kingdom strong.

1Chr.17.12

He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.

1Chr.17.12

He will build a house to honor me, and I will guarantee his kingdom's rule forever.

1Chr.17.12

He is the one who will build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.

1Chr.17.12

He shall build Me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.

1Chr.17.12

He is the one who will build a house--a temple--for me. And I will establish his throne forever.

1Chr.17.13

I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:

1Chr.17.13

I'll be a father to him, and he'll be a son to me. I will never remove my gracious love from him as I did from the one who preceded you.

1Chr.17.13

I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor.

1Chr.17.13

I will be his Father, and he shall be My son; and I will not take My mercy away from him, as I took it from him who was before you.

1Chr.17.13

I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will not take my unfailing love from him as I took it from Saul, who ruled before you.

1Chr.17.14

But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.

1Chr.17.14

I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever; his throne will always be there, rock solid."

1Chr.17.14

I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever; his throne will be established forever.'"

1Chr.17.14

And I will establish him in My house and in My kingdom forever; and his throne shall be established forever.""'

1Chr.17.14

I will establish him over my dynasty and my kingdom for all time, and his throne will be secure forever.'"

1Chr.17.15

According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

1Chr.17.15

Nathan gave David a complete and accurate report of everything he heard and saw in the vision.

1Chr.17.15

Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation.

1Chr.17.15

According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

1Chr.17.15

So Nathan went back to David and told him everything the LORD had said.

1Chr.17.16

And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

1Chr.17.16

King David went in, took his place before GOD, and prayed: Who am I, my Master GOD, and what is my family, that you have brought me to this place in life?

1Chr.17.16

Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: "Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?

1Chr.17.16

Then King David went in and sat before the LORD; and he said: "Who am I, O LORD God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

1Chr.17.16

Then King David went in and sat before the LORD and prayed, "Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?

1Chr.17.17

And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.

1Chr.17.17

But that's nothing compared to what's coming, for you've also spoken of my family far into the future, given me a glimpse into tomorrow and looked on me, Master GOD, as a Somebody.

1Chr.17.17

And as if this were not enough in your sight, O God, you have spoken about the future of the house of your servant. You have looked on me as though I were the most exalted of men, O LORD God.

1Chr.17.17

And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O God; and You have also spoken of Your servant's house for a great while to come, and have regarded me according to the rank of a man of high degree, O LORD God.

1Chr.17.17

And now, O God, in addition to everything else, you speak of giving me a lasting dynasty! You speak as though I were someone very great, O LORD God!

1Chr.17.18

What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.

1Chr.17.18

What's left for David to say to this--to your honoring your servant, even though you know me, just as I am?

1Chr.17.18

"What more can David say to you for honoring your servant? For you know your servant,

1Chr.17.18

What more can David say to You for the honor of Your servant? For You know Your servant.

1Chr.17.18

What more can I say about the way you have honored me? You know what I am really like.

1Chr.17.19

O LORD, for thy servant's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.

1Chr.17.19

O GOD, out of the goodness of your heart, you've taken your servant to do this great thing and put your great work on display.

1Chr.17.19

O LORD. For the sake of your servant and according to your will, you have done this great thing and made known all these great promises.

1Chr.17.19

O LORD, for Your servant's sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.

1Chr.17.19

For my sake, O LORD, and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have made them known.

1Chr.17.20

O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

1Chr.17.20

There's none like you, GOD, no God but you, nothing to compare with what we've heard with our own ears.

1Chr.17.20

"There is no one like you, O LORD, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.

1Chr.17.20

O LORD, there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

1Chr.17.20

"O LORD, there is no one like you--there is no other God. We have never even heard of another god like you!

1Chr.17.21

And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?

1Chr.17.21

And who is like your people, like Israel, a nation unique on earth, whom God set out to redeem as his own people (and became most famous for it), performing great and fearsome acts, throwing out nations and their gods left and right as you saved your people from Egypt?

1Chr.17.21

And who is like your people Israel-the one nation on earth whose God went out to redeem a people for himself, and to make a name for yourself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt?

1Chr.17.21

And who is like Your people Israel, the one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people--to make for Yourself a name by great and awesome deeds, by driving out nations from before Your people whom You redeemed from Egypt?

1Chr.17.21

What other nation on earth is like Israel? What other nation, O God, have you redeemed from slavery to be your own people? You made a great name for yourself when you rescued your people from Egypt. You performed awesome miracles and drove out the nations that stood in their way.

1Chr.17.22

For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.

1Chr.17.22

You established for yourself a people--your very own Israel!-your people forever. And you, GOD, became their God.

1Chr.17.22

You made your people Israel your very own forever, and you, O LORD, have become their God.

1Chr.17.22

For You have made Your people Israel Your very own people forever; and You, LORD, have become their God.

1Chr.17.22

You chose Israel to be your people forever, and you, O LORD, have become their God.

1Chr.17.23

Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.

1Chr.17.23

So now, great GOD, this word that you have spoken to me and my family, guarantee it forever! Do exactly what you've promised!

1Chr.17.23

"And now, LORD, let the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house be established forever. Do as you promised,

1Chr.17.23

"And now, O LORD, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, let it be established forever, and do as You have said.

1Chr.17.23

"And now, O LORD, do as you have promised concerning me and my family. May it be a promise that will last forever.

1Chr.17.24

Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.

1Chr.17.24

Then your reputation will be confirmed and flourish always as people exclaim, "The GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies, the God over Israel, is Israel's God!" And the house of your servant David will remain rock solid under your watchful presence.

1Chr.17.24

so that it will be established and that your name will be great forever. Then men will say, 'The LORD Almighty, the God over Israel, is Israel's God!' And the house of your servant David will be established before you.

1Chr.17.24

So let it be established, that Your name may be magnified forever, saying, "The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, is Israel's God.' And let the house of Your servant David be established before You.

1Chr.17.24

And may your name be established and honored forever so that all the world will say, `The LORD Almighty is God over Israel!' And may the dynasty of your servant David be established in your presence.

1Chr.17.25

For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.

1Chr.17.25

You, my God, have told me plainly, "I will build you a house." That's how I was able to find the courage to pray this prayer to you.

1Chr.17.25

"You, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. So your servant has found courage to pray to you.

1Chr.17.25

For You, O my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build him a house. Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray before You.

1Chr.17.25

"O my God, I have been bold enough to pray this prayer because you have revealed that you will build a house for me--an eternal dynasty!

1Chr.17.26

And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

1Chr.17.26

GOD, being the God you are, you have spoken all these wonderful words to me.

1Chr.17.26

O LORD, you are God! You have promised these good things to your servant.

1Chr.17.26

And now, LORD, You are God, and have promised this goodness to Your servant.

1Chr.17.26

For you are God, O LORD. And you have promised these good things to me, your servant.

1Chr.17.27

Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.

1Chr.17.27

As if that weren't enough, you've blessed my family so that it will continue in your presence always. Because you have blessed it, GOD, it's really blessed--blessed for good!

1Chr.17.27

Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, O LORD, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever."

1Chr.17.27

Now You have been pleased to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You have blessed it, O LORD, and it shall be blessed forever."

1Chr.17.27

And now, it has pleased you to bless me and my family so that our dynasty will continue forever before you. For when you grant a blessing, O LORD, it is an eternal blessing!"
