GOD spoke to Moses,

The LORD said to Moses,

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

Then the LORD said to Moses,

"Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites. Tell them, This is what GOD commands:

"Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: 'This is what the LORD has commanded:

"Speak to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them, "This is the thing which the LORD has commanded, saying:

"Give Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites these commands from the LORD:

Lev.17.3

Any and every man who slaughters an ox or lamb or goat inside or outside the camp

Lev.17.3

Any Israelite who sacrifices an ox, a lamb or a goat in the camp or outside of it

Lev.17.3

"Whatever man of the house of Israel who kills an ox or lamb or goat in the camp, or who kills it outside the camp,

Lev.17.3

If any Israelite sacrifices a bull or a lamb or a goat anywhere inside or outside the camp

Lev.17.4

instead of bringing it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting to offer it to GOD in front of The Dwelling of GOD-that man is considered guilty of bloodshed; he has shed blood and must be cut off from his people.

instead of bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD in front of the tabernacle of the LORD -that man shall be considered guilty of bloodshed; he has shed blood and must be cut off from his people.

Lev.17.4

and does not bring it to the door of the tabernacle of meeting to offer an offering to the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD, the guilt of bloodshed shall be imputed to that man. He has shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people,

and does not bring it to the entrance of the Tabernacle to present it as an offering to the LORD, that person will be guilty of a capital offense. Such a person has shed blood and must be cut off from the community.

Lev.17.5

This is so the Israelites will bring to GOD the sacrifices that they're in the habit of sacrificing out in the open fields. They must bring them to GOD and the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and sacrifice them as Peace-Offerings to GOD.

This is so the Israelites will bring to the LORD the sacrifices they are now making in the open fields. They must bring them to the priest, that is, to the LORD, at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and sacrifice them as fellowship offerings.

Lev.17.5

to the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices which they offer in the open field, that they may bring them to the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, to the priest, and offer them as peace offerings to the LORD.

Lev.17.5

This rule will stop the Israelites from sacrificing animals in the open fields. It will cause them to bring their sacrifices to the priest at the entrance of the Tabernacle, so he can present them to the LORD as peace offerings.

Lev.17.6

The priest will splash the blood on the Altar of GOD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and burn the fat as a pleasing fragrance to GOD.

Lev.17.6

The priest is to sprinkle the blood against the altar of the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and burn the fat as an aroma pleasing to the LORD.

Lev.17.6

And the priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and burn the fat for a sweet aroma to the LORD.

That way the priest will be able to sprinkle the blood and burn the fat on the LORD's altar at the entrance of the Tabernacle, and it will be very pleasing to the LORD.

Lev.17.7

They must no longer offer their sacrifices to goat-demons--a kind of religious orgy. This is a perpetual decree down through the generations.

They must no longer offer any of their sacrifices to the goat idols to whom they prostitute themselves. This is to be a lasting ordinance for them and for the generations to come.'

They shall no more offer their sacrifices to demons, after whom they have played the harlot. This shall be a statute forever for them throughout their generations."'

Lev.17.7

The people must no longer be unfaithful to the LORD by offering sacrifices to evil spirits out in the fields. This is a permanent law for them, to be kept generation after generation.

"Tell them: Any Israelite or foreigner living among them who offers a Whole-Burnt-Offering or Peace-Offering

"Say to them: 'Any Israelite or any alien living among them who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice

"Also you shall say to them: "Whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice,

"Give them this command as well, which applies both to Israelites and to the foreigners living among you. If you offer a whole burnt offering or a sacrifice

Lev.17.9

but doesn't bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting to sacrifice it to GOD, that person must be cut off from his people.

and does not bring it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to sacrifice it to the LORD -that man must be cut off from his people.

and does not bring it to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, to offer it to the LORD, that man shall be cut off from among his people.

and do not bring it to the entrance of the Tabernacle to offer it to the LORD, you will be cut off from the community.

"If any Israelite or foreigner living among them eats blood, I will disown that person and cut him off from his people,

"'Any Israelite or any alien living among them who eats any blood-I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from his people.

Lev.17.10

"And whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

"And I will turn against anyone, whether an Israelite or a foreigner living among you, who eats or drinks blood in any form. I will cut off such a person from the community,

Lev.17.11

for the life of an animal is in the blood. I have provided the blood for you to make atonement for your lives on the Altar; it is the blood, the life, that makes atonement.

For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.

For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.'

for the life of any creature is in its blood. I have given you the blood so you can make atonement for your sins. It is the blood, representing life, that brings you atonement.

Lev.17.12

That's why I tell the People of Israel, "Don't eat blood.' The same goes for the foreigner who lives among you, "Don't eat blood.'

Therefore I say to the Israelites, "None of you may eat blood, nor may an alien living among you eat blood."

Therefore I said to the children of Israel, "No one among you shall eat blood, nor shall any stranger who dwells among you eat blood.'

That is why I said to the Israelites: `You and the foreigners who live among you must never eat or drink blood.'

"Any and every Israelite--this also goes for the foreigners--who hunts down an animal or bird that is edible, must bleed it and cover the blood with dirt,

"'Any Israelite or any alien living among you who hunts any animal or bird that may be eaten must drain out the blood and cover it with earth,

Lev.17.13

"Whatever man of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who hunts and catches any animal or bird that may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust;

Lev.17.13

"And this command applies both to Israelites and to the foreigners living among you. If you go hunting and kill an animal or bird that is approved for eating, you must drain out the blood and cover it with earth.

because the life of every animal is its blood--the blood is its life. That's why I tell the Israelites, "Don't eat the blood of any animal because the life of every animal is its blood. Anyone who eats the blood must be cut off.'

The life of every creature is in the blood. That is why I have told the people of Israel never to eat or drink it, for the life of any bird or animal is in the blood. So whoever eats or drinks blood must be cut off.

"Anyone, whether native or foreigner, who eats from an animal that is found dead or mauled must wash his clothes and bathe in water; he remains unclean until evening and is then clean.

"'Anyone, whether native-born or alien, who eats anything found dead or torn by wild animals must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be ceremonially unclean till evening; then he will be clean.

"And every person who eats what died naturally or what was torn by beasts, whether he is a native of your own country or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until evening. Then he shall be clean.

"And this command also applies both to Israelites and the foreigners living among you. If you eat from the carcass of an animal that died a natural death or was killed by a wild animal, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourselves in water. Then you will remain ceremonially unclean until evening; after that, you will be considered clean.

Lev.17.16

If he doesn't wash or bathe his body, he'll be held responsible for his actions."

But if he does not wash his clothes and bathe himself, he will be held responsible.'"

But if he does not wash them or bathe his body, then he shall bear his guilt."

But if you do not wash your clothes and bathe, you will be held responsible."

Lev.18.1

GOD spoke to Moses,

"Speak to the People of Israel. Tell them: I am GOD, your God.

Lev.18.2

"Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'I am the LORD your God.

Lev.18.2

"Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: "I am the LORD your God.

Lev.18.2

"Say this to your people, the Israelites: I, the LORD, am your God.

Lev.18.3

Don't live like the people of Egypt where you used to live, and don't live like the people of Canaan where I'm bringing you. Don't do what they do.

Lev.18.3

You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.

Lev.18.3

According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances.

So do not act like the people in Egypt, where you used to live, or like the people of Canaan, where I am taking you. You must not imitate their way of life.

Obey my laws and live by my decrees. I am your GOD.

You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God.

You shall observe My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am the LORD your God.

You must obey all my regulations and be careful to keep my laws, for I, the LORD, am your God.

Keep my decrees and laws: The person who obeys them lives by them. I am GOD.

Lev.18.5

Keep my decrees and laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them. I am the LORD.

Lev.18.5

You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them: I am the LORD.

If you obey my laws and regulations, you will find life through them. I am the LORD.

Lev.18.6

"Don't have sex with a close relative. I am GOD.

Lev.18.6

"'No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the LORD.

Lev.18.6

"None of you shall approach anyone who is near of kin to him, to uncover his nakedness: I am the LORD.

Lev.18.6

"You must never have sexual intercourse with a close relative, for I am the LORD.

Lev.18.7

"Don't violate your father by having sex with your mother. She is your mother. Don't have sex with her.

Lev.18.7

"'Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her.

Lev.18.7

The nakedness of your father or the nakedness of your mother you shall not uncover. She is your mother; you shall not uncover her nakedness.

Lev.18.7

Do not violate your father by having sexual intercourse with your mother. She is your mother; you must never have intercourse with her.

"Don't have sex with your father's wife. That violates your father.

Lev.18.8

"'Do not have sexual relations with your father's wife; that would dishonor your father.

The nakedness of your father's wife you shall not uncover; it is your father's nakedness.

Do not have sexual intercourse with any of your father's wives, for this would violate your father.

"Don't have sex with your sister, whether she's your father's daughter or your mother's, whether she was born in the same house or elsewhere.

"'Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.

The nakedness of your sister, the daughter of your father, or the daughter of your mother, whether born at home or elsewhere, their nakedness you shall not uncover.

"Do not have sexual intercourse with your sister or half sister, whether she is your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether she was brought up in the same family or somewhere else.

"Don't have sex with your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter. That would violate your own body.

"'Do not have sexual relations with your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter; that would dishonor you.

Lev.18.10

The nakedness of your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter, their nakedness you shall not uncover; for theirs is your own nakedness.

"Do not have sexual intercourse with your granddaughter, whether your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter; that would violate you.

"Don't have sex with the daughter of your father's wife born to your father. She is your sister.

"'Do not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father's wife, born to your father; she is your sister.

The nakedness of your father's wife's daughter, begotten by your father--she is your sister--you shall not uncover her nakedness.

Do not have sexual intercourse with the daughter of any of your father's wives; she is your half sister.

"Don't have sex with your father's sister; she is your aunt, closely related to your father.

"'Do not have sexual relations with your father's sister; she is your father's close relative.

You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's sister; she is near of kin to your father.

Do not have intercourse with your aunt, your father's sister, because she is your father's close relative.

"Don't have sex with your mother's sister; she is your aunt, closely related to your mother.

"'Do not have sexual relations with your mother's sister, because she is your mother's close relative.

You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister, for she is near of kin to your mother.

Do not have sexual intercourse with your aunt, your mother's sister, because she is your mother's close relative.

"Don't violate your father's brother, your uncle, by having sex with his wife. She is your aunt.

"'Do not dishonor your father's brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations; she is your aunt.

Lev.18.14

You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's brother. You shall not approach his wife; she is your aunt.

And do not violate your uncle, your father's brother, by having sexual intercourse with his wife; she also is your aunt.

"Don't have sex with your daughter-in-law. She is your son's wife; don't have sex with her.

"'Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son's wife; do not have relations with her.

You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law--she is your son's wife--you shall not uncover her nakedness.

"Don't have sex with your brother's wife; that would violate your brother.

"'Do not have sexual relations with your brother's wife; that would dishonor your brother.

You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother's wife; it is your brother's nakedness.

Do not have intercourse with your brother's wife; this would violate your brother.

"Don't have sex with both a woman and her daughter. And don't have sex with her granddaughters either. They are her close relatives. That is wicked.

"'Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. Do not have sexual relations with either her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness.

You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, nor shall you take her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness. They are near of kin to her. It is wickedness.

"Do not have sexual intercourse with both a woman and her daughter or marry both a woman and her granddaughter, whether her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter. They are close relatives, and to do this would be a horrible wickedness.

"Don't have sex with a woman during the time of her menstrual period when she is unclean.

"'Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period.

"Also you shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness as long as she is in her customary impurity.

"Do not violate a woman by having sexual intercourse with her during her period of menstrual impurity.

"Don't have sex with your neighbor's wife and violate yourself by her.

Lev.18.20

"'Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor's wife and defile yourself with her.

Moreover you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, to defile yourself with her.

"Do not defile yourself by having sexual intercourse with your neighbor's wife.

"Don't give any of your children to be burned in sacrifice to the god Molech--an act of sheer blasphemy of your God. I am GOD.

"'Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.

And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.

"Don't have sex with a man as one does with a woman. That is abhorrent.

"'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.

Lev.18.22

"Do not practice homosexuality; it is a detestable sin.

Lev.18.23

"Don't have sex with an animal and violate yourself by it. "A woman must not have sex with an animal. That is perverse.

Lev.18.23

"'Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.

Lev.18.23

Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion.

"A man must never defile himself by having sexual intercourse with an animal, and a woman must never present herself to a male animal in order to have intercourse with it; this is a terrible perversion.

Lev.18.24

"Don't pollute yourself in any of these ways. This is how the nations became polluted, the ones that I am going to drive out of the land before you.

"'Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.

"Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you.

"Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the people I am expelling from the Promised Land have defiled themselves.

Lev.18.25

Even the land itself became polluted and I punished it for its iniquities--the land vomited up its inhabitants.

Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.

For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants.

As a result, the entire land has become defiled. That is why I am punishing the people who live there, and the land will soon vomit them out.

You must keep my decrees and laws--natives and foreigners both. You must not do any of these abhorrent things.

But you must keep my decrees and my laws. The native-born and the aliens living among you must not do any of these detestable things,

You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you

You must strictly obey all of my laws and regulations, and you must not do any of these detestable things. This applies both to you who are Israelites by birth and to the foreigners living among you.

Lev.18.27

The people who lived in this land before you arrived did all these things and polluted the land.

Lev.18.27

for all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you, and the land became defiled.

Lev.18.27

(for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled),

Lev.18.27

"All these detestable activities are practiced by the people of the land where I am taking you, and the land has become defiled.

Lev.18.28

And if you pollute it, the land will vomit you up just as it vomited up the nations that preceded you.

Lev.18.28

And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you.

Lev.18.28

lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you.

Lev.18.28

Do not give the land a reason to vomit you out for defiling it, as it will vomit out the people who live there now.

Lev.18.29

"Those who do any of these abhorrent things will be cut off from their people.

Lev.18.29

"'Everyone who does any of these detestable things-such persons must be cut off from their people.

Lev.18.29

For whoever commits any of these abominations, the persons who commit them shall be cut off from among their people.

Lev.18.29

Whoever does any of these detestable things will be cut off from the community of Israel.

Lev.18.30

Keep to what I tell you; don't engage in any of the abhorrent acts that were practiced before you came. Don't pollute yourselves with them. I am GOD, your God."

Keep my requirements and do not follow any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you came and do not defile yourselves with them. I am the LORD your God.'"

"Therefore you shall keep My ordinance, so that you do not commit any of these abominable customs which were committed before you, and that you do not defile yourselves by them: I am the LORD your God."'

Lev.18.30

So be careful to obey my laws, and do not practice any of these detestable activities. Do not defile yourselves by doing any of them, for I, the LORD, am your God."

Now as they sat and ate, Jesus said, "Assuredly, I say to you, one of you who eats with Me will betray Me."

As they were sitting around the table eating, Jesus said, "The truth is, one of you will betray me, one of you who is here eating with me."

Stunned, they started asking, one after another, "It isn't me, is it?"

They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, "Surely not I?"

And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him one by one, "Is it I?" And another said, "Is it I?"

Greatly distressed, one by one they began to ask him, "I'm not the one, am I?"

He said, "It's one of the Twelve, one who eats with me out of the same bowl.

"It is one of the Twelve," he replied, "one who dips bread into the bowl with me.

He answered and said to them, "It is one of the twelve, who dips with Me in the dish.

He replied, "It is one of you twelve, one who is eating with me now.

Mark.14.21

In one sense, it turns out that the Son of Man is entering into a way of treachery well-marked by the Scriptures--no surprises here. In another sense, the man who turns him in, turns traitor to the Son of Man--better never to have been born than do this!"

The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born."

The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born."

For I, the Son of Man, must die, as the Scriptures declared long ago. But how terrible it will be for my betrayer. Far better for him if he had never been born!"
