Ezek.24.1

Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

The Message of GOD came to me in the ninth year, the tenth month, and the tenth day of the month:

Ezek.24.1

In the ninth year, in the tenth month on the tenth day, the word of the LORD came to me:

Ezek.24.1

Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Ezek.24.1

On January 15, during the ninth year of King Jehoiachin's captivity, this message came to me from the LORD:

Ezek.24.2

Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.

Ezek.24.2

"Son of man, write down this date. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.

Ezek.24.2

"Son of man, record this date, this very date, because the king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.

Ezek.24.2

"Son of man, write down the name of the day, this very day--the king of Babylon started his siege against Jerusalem this very day.

Ezek.24.2

"Son of man, write down today's date, because on this very day the king of Babylon is beginning his attack against Jerusalem.

Ezek.24.3

And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:

Ezek.24.3

Tell this company of rebels a story: Put on the soup pot. Fill it with water.

Ezek.24.3

Tell this rebellious house a parable and say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'Put on the cooking pot; put it on and pour water into it.

Ezek.24.3

And utter a parable to the rebellious house, and say to them, "Thus says the Lord GOD: "Put on a pot, set it on, And also pour water into it.

Ezek.24.3

Then show these rebels an illustration; give them a message from the Sovereign LORD. Put a pot of water on the fire to boil.

Ezek.24.4

Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.

Ezek.24.4

Put chunks of meat into it, all the choice pieces--loin and brisket. Pick out the best soup bones

Ezek.24.4

Put into it the pieces of meat, all the choice pieces-the leg and the shoulder. Fill it with the best of these bones;

Ezek.24.4

Gather pieces of meat in it, Every good piece, The thigh and the shoulder. Fill it with choice cuts;

Ezek.24.4

Fill it with choice meat--the rump and the shoulder and all the most tender cuts.

Ezek.24.5

Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.

Ezek.24.5

from the best of the sheep in the flock. Pile wood beneath the pot. Bring it to a boil and cook the soup.

take the pick of the flock. Pile wood beneath it for the bones; bring it to a boil and cook the bones in it.

Take the choice of the flock. Also pile fuel bones under it, Make it boil well, And let the cuts simmer in it."

Ezek.24.5

Use only the best sheep from the flock and heap fuel on the fire beneath the pot. Bring the pot to a boil, and cook the bones along with the meat.

Ezek.24.6

Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.

Ezek.24.6

GOD, the Master, says: Doom to the city of murder, to the pot thick with scum, thick with a filth that can't be scoured. Empty the pot piece by piece; don't bother who gets what.

"'For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'Woe to the city of bloodshed, to the pot now encrusted, whose deposit will not go away! Empty it piece by piece without casting lots for them.

"Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "Woe to the bloody city, To the pot whose scum is in it, And whose scum is not gone from it! Bring it out piece by piece, On which no lot has fallen.

Ezek.24.6

"Now this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Destruction is certain for Jerusalem, the city of murderers! She is a pot filled with corruption. So take the meat out chunk by chunk in whatever order it comes,

For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;

Ezek.24.7

The blood from murders has stained the whole city; Blood runs bold on the street stones, with no one bothering to wash it off--

Ezek.24.7

"'For the blood she shed is in her midst: She poured it on the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground, where the dust would cover it.

Ezek.24.7

For her blood is in her midst; She set it on top of a rock; She did not pour it on the ground, To cover it with dust.

Ezek.24.7

for her wickedness is evident to all. She murders boldly, leaving blood on the rocks for all to see. She doesn't even try to cover it!

Ezek.24.8

That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.

Ezek.24.8

Blood out in the open to public view to provoke my wrath, to trigger my vengeance.

Ezek.24.8

To stir up wrath and take revenge I put her blood on the bare rock, so that it would not be covered.

Ezek.24.8

That it may raise up fury and take vengeance, I have set her blood on top of a rock, That it may not be covered."

Ezek.24.8

So I will splash her blood on a rock as an open expression of my anger and vengeance against her.

Ezek.24.9

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.

Ezek.24.9

Therefore, this is what GOD, the Master, says: Doom to the city of murder! I, too, will pile on the wood.

Ezek.24.9

"'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'Woe to the city of bloodshed! I, too, will pile the wood high.

Ezek.24.9

"Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "Woe to the bloody city! I too will make the pyre great.

Ezek.24.9

"This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Destruction is certain for Jerusalem, the city of murderers! I myself will pile up the fuel beneath her.

Ezek.24.10

Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.

Ezek.24.10

Stack the wood high, light the match, Cook the meat, spice it well, pour out the broth, and then burn the bones.

Ezek.24.10

So heap on the wood and kindle the fire. Cook the meat well, mixing in the spices; and let the bones be charred.

Ezek.24.10

Heap on the wood, Kindle the fire; Cook the meat well, Mix in the spices, And let the cuts be burned up.

Ezek.24.10

Yes, heap on the wood! Let the fire roar to make the pot boil. Cook the meat well with many spices. Then empty the pot and burn the bones.

Ezek.24.11

Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.

Then I'll set the empty pot on the coals and heat it red-hot so the bronze glows, So the germs are killed and the corruption is burned off.

Then set the empty pot on the coals till it becomes hot and its copper glows so its impurities may be melted and its deposit burned away.

Ezek.24.11

"Then set the pot empty on the coals, That it may become hot and its bronze may burn, That its filthiness may be melted in it, That its scum may be consumed.

Ezek.24.11

Now set the empty pot on the coals to scorch away the filth and corruption.

Ezek.24.12

She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.

Ezek.24.12

But it's hopeless. It's too far gone. The filth is too thick.

Ezek.24.12

It has frustrated all efforts; its heavy deposit has not been removed, not even by fire.

Ezek.24.12

She has grown weary with lies, And her great scum has not gone from her. Let her scum be in the fire!

Ezek.24.12

But it's hopeless; the corruption remains. So throw it into the fire!

Ezek.24.13

In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.

Ezek.24.13

Your encrusted filth is your filthy sex. I wanted to clean you up, but you wouldn't let me. I'll make no more attempts at cleaning you up until my anger quiets down.

Ezek.24.13

"'Now your impurity is lewdness. Because I tried to cleanse you but you would not be cleansed from your impurity, you will not be clean again until my wrath against you has subsided.

Ezek.24.13

In your filthiness is lewdness. Because I have cleansed you, and you were not cleansed, You will not be cleansed of your filthiness anymore, Till I have caused My fury to rest upon you.

Ezek.24.13

It is the filth and corruption of your lewdness and idolatry. And now, because I tried to cleanse you but you refused, you will remain filthy until my fury against you has been satisfied.

Ezek.24.14

I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.

Ezek.24.14

I, GOD, have said it, and I'll do it. I'm not holding back. I've run out of compassion. I'm not changing my mind. You're getting exactly what's coming to you. Decree of GOD, the Master.'"

"'I the LORD have spoken. The time has come for me to act. I will not hold back; I will not have pity, nor will I relent. You will be judged according to your conduct and your actions, declares the Sovereign LORD.'"

Ezek.24.14

I, the LORD, have spoken it; It shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not hold back, Nor will I spare, Nor will I relent; According to your ways And according to your deeds They will judge you," Says the Lord GOD."'

Ezek.24.14

I, the LORD, have spoken! The time has come and I won't hold back; I will not change my mind. You will be judged on the basis of all your wicked actions, says the Sovereign LORD."

Ezek.24.15

Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Also the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Then this message came to me from the LORD:

Ezek.24.16

Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.

Ezek.24.16

"Son of man, I'm about to take from you the delight of your life--a real blow, I know. But, please, no tears.

Ezek.24.16

"Son of man, with one blow I am about to take away from you the delight of your eyes. Yet do not lament or weep or shed any tears.

Ezek.24.16

"Son of man, behold, I take away from you the desire of your eyes with one stroke; yet you shall neither mourn nor weep, nor shall your tears run down.

Ezek.24.16

"Son of man, I am going to take away your dearest treasure. Suddenly she will die. Yet you must not show any sorrow. Do not weep; let there be no tears.

Ezek.24.17

Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.

Ezek.24.17

Keep your grief to yourself. No public mourning. Get dressed as usual and go about your work--none of the usual funeral rituals."

Ezek.24.17

Groan quietly; do not mourn for the dead. Keep your turban fastened and your sandals on your feet; do not cover the lower part of your face or eat the customary food of mourners."

Ezek.24.17

Sigh in silence, make no mourning for the dead; bind your turban on your head, and put your sandals on your feet; do not cover your lips, and do not eat man's bread of sorrow."

Ezek.24.17

You may sigh but only quietly. Let there be no wailing at her grave. Do not uncover your head or take off your sandals. Do not perform the rituals of mourning or accept any food brought to you by consoling friends."

Ezek.24.18

So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

I preached to the people in the morning. That evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I'd been told.

So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I had been commanded.

So I spoke to the people in the morning, and at evening my wife died; and the next morning I did as I was commanded.

Ezek.24.18

So I proclaimed this to the people the next morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did everything I had been told to do.

Ezek.24.19

And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?

Ezek.24.19

The people came to me, saying, "Tell us why you're acting like this. What does it mean, anyway?"

Ezek.24.19

Then the people asked me, "Won't you tell us what these things have to do with us?"

Ezek.24.19

And the people said to me, "Will you not tell us what these things signify to us, that you behave so?"

Ezek.24.19

Then the people asked, "What does all this mean? What are you trying to tell us?"

Ezek.24.20

Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

So I told them, "GOD's Word came to me, saying,

Ezek.24.20

So I said to them, "The word of the LORD came to me:

Ezek.24.20

Then I answered them, "The word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Ezek.24.20

So I said to them, "A message came to me from the LORD,

Ezek.24.21

Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.

Ezek.24.21

"Tell the family of Israel, This is what GOD, the Master, says: I will desecrate my Sanctuary, your proud impregnable fort, the delight of your life, your heart's desire. The children you left behind will be killed.

Ezek.24.21

Say to the house of Israel, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to desecrate my sanctuary-the stronghold in which you take pride, the delight of your eyes, the object of your affection. The sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.

Ezek.24.21

"Speak to the house of Israel, "Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I will profane My sanctuary, your arrogant boast, the desire of your eyes, the delight of your soul; and your sons and daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword.

Ezek.24.21

and I was told to give this message to the people of Israel. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will desecrate my Temple, the source of your security and pride. Your sons and daughters in Judea will be slaughtered by the sword.

Ezek.24.22

And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.

Ezek.24.22

Then you'll do exactly as I've done. You'll perform none of the usual funeral rituals.

Ezek.24.22

And you will do as I have done. You will not cover the lower part of your face or eat the customary food of mourners.

Ezek.24.22

And you shall do as I have done; you shall not cover your lips nor eat man's bread of sorrow.

Then you will do as Ezekiel has done. You will not mourn in public or console yourselves by eating the food brought to you by sympathetic friends.

Ezek.24.23

And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.

Ezek.24.23

You'll get dressed as usual and go about your work. No tears. But your sins will eat away at you from within and you'll groan among yourselves.

Ezek.24.23

You will keep your turbans on your heads and your sandals on your feet. You will not mourn or weep but will waste away because of your sins and groan among yourselves.

Ezek.24.23

Your turbans shall be on your heads and your sandals on your feet; you shall neither mourn nor weep, but you shall pine away in your iniquities and mourn with one another.

Ezek.24.23

Your heads must remain covered, and your sandals must not be taken off. You will not mourn or weep, but you will waste away because of your sins. You will mourn privately for all the evil you have done.

Ezek.24.24

Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

Ezek.24.24

Ezekiel will be your example. The way he did it is the way you'll do it. When this happens you'll recognize that I am GOD, the Master.'

Ezekiel will be a sign to you; you will do just as he has done. When this happens, you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.'

Thus Ezekiel is a sign to you; according to all that he has done you shall do; and when this comes, you shall know that I am the Lord GOD."'

Ezekiel is an example for you to follow; you will do as he has done. And when that time comes, you will know that I am the LORD."

Ezek.24.25

Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,

"And you, son of man: The day I take away the people's refuge, their great joy, the delight of their life, what they've most longed for, along with all their children

Ezek.24.25

"And you, son of man, on the day I take away their stronghold, their joy and glory, the delight of their eyes, their heart's desire, and their sons and daughters as well-

Ezek.24.25

"And you, son of man--will it not be in the day when I take from them their stronghold, their joy and their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that on which they set their minds, their sons and their daughters:

Ezek.24.25

Then the LORD said to me, "Son of man, on the day I take away their stronghold--their joy and glory, their heart's desire, their dearest treasure--I will also take away their sons and daughters.

Ezek.24.26

That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?

Ezek.24.26

-on that very day a survivor will arrive and tell you what happened to the city.

Ezek.24.26

on that day a fugitive will come to tell you the news.

Ezek.24.26

on that day one who escapes will come to you to let you hear it with your ears;

Ezek.24.26

And on that day a refugee from Jerusalem will come to you in Babylon and tell you what has happened.

Ezek.24.27

In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Ezek.24.27

You'll break your silence and start talking again, talking to the survivor. Again, you'll be an example for them. And they'll recognize that I am GOD."

Ezek.24.27

At that time your mouth will be opened; you will speak with him and will no longer be silent. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the LORD."

Ezek.24.27

on that day your mouth will be opened to him who has escaped; you shall speak and no longer be mute. Thus you will be a sign to them, and they shall know that I am the LORD."'

Ezek.24.27

And when he arrives, your voice will suddenly return so you can talk to him, and you will be a symbol for these people. Then they will know that I am the LORD."

Ezek.25.1

The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

GOD's Message came to me:

Then this message came to me from the LORD:

Ezek.25.2

Son of man, set thy face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them;

Ezek.25.2

"Son of man, face Ammon and preach against the people:

Ezek.25.2

"Son of man, set your face against the Ammonites and prophesy against them.

Ezek.25.2

"Son of man, set your face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them.

Ezek.25.2

"Son of man, look toward the land of Ammon and prophesy against its people.

Ezek.25.3

And say unto the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou saidst, Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity;

Ezek.25.3

Listen to the Message of GOD, the Master. This is what GOD has to say: Because you cheered when my Sanctuary was desecrated and the land of Judah was devastated and the people of Israel were taken into exile,

Say to them, 'Hear the word of the Sovereign LORD. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because you said "Aha!" over my sanctuary when it was desecrated and over the land of Israel when it was laid waste and over the people of Judah when they went into exile,

Ezek.25.3

Say to the Ammonites, "Hear the word of the Lord GOD! Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because you said, "Aha!' against My sanctuary when it was profaned, and against the land of Israel when it was desolate, and against the house of Judah when they went into captivity,

Ezek.25.3

Give the Ammonites this message from the Sovereign LORD: Hear the word of the Sovereign LORD! Because you scoffed when my Temple was desecrated, mocked Israel in her desolation, and laughed at Judah as she went away into exile,

Ezek.25.4

Behold, therefore I will deliver thee to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in thee, and make their dwellings in thee: they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.

Ezek.25.4

I'm giving you over to the people of the east. They'll move in and make themselves at home, eating the food right off your tables and drinking your milk.

Ezek.25.4

therefore I am going to give you to the people of the East as a possession. They will set up their camps and pitch their tents among you; they will eat your fruit and drink your milk.

Ezek.25.4

indeed, therefore, I will deliver you as a possession to the men of the East, and they shall set their encampments among you and make their dwellings among you; they shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk.

Ezek.25.4

I will allow nomads from the eastern deserts to overrun your country. They will set up their camps among you and pitch their tents on your land. They will harvest all your fruit and steal your livestock.

Ezek.25.5

And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the Ammonites a couchingplace for flocks: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Ezek.25.5

I'll turn your capital, Rabbah, into pasture for camels and all your villages into corrals for flocks. Then you'll realize that I am GOD.

Ezek.25.5

I will turn Rabbah into a pasture for camels and Ammon into a resting place for sheep. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

Ezek.25.5

And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels and Ammon a resting place for flocks. Then you shall know that I am the LORD."

Ezek.25.5

And I will turn the city of Rabbah into a pasture for camels, and all the land of the Ammonites into an enclosure for sheep. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

Ezek.25.6

For thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast clapped thine hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced in heart with all thy despite against the land of Israel;

Ezek.25.6

"GOD, the Master, says, Because you clapped and cheered, venting all your malicious contempt against the land of Israel,

Ezek.25.6

For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because you have clapped your hands and stamped your feet, rejoicing with all the malice of your heart against the land of Israel,

Ezek.25.6

"For thus says the Lord GOD: "Because you clapped your hands, stamped your feet, and rejoiced in heart with all your disdain for the land of Israel,

Ezek.25.6

"And the Sovereign LORD says: Because you clapped and stamped and cheered with glee at the destruction of my people,

Ezek.25.7

Behold, therefore I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the heathen; and I will cut thee off from the people, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

Ezek.25.7

I'll step in and hand you out as loot--first come, first served. I'll cross you off the roster of nations. There'll be nothing left of you. And you'll realize that I am GOD." [JC] 7

therefore I will stretch out my hand against you and give you as plunder to the nations. I will cut you off from the nations and exterminate you from the countries. I will destroy you, and you will know that I am the LORD.'"

Ezek.25.7

indeed, therefore, I will stretch out My hand against you, and give you as plunder to the nations; I will cut you off from the peoples, and I will cause you to perish from the countries; I will destroy you, and you shall know that I am the LORD."

Ezek.25.7

I will lift up my fist against you. I will give you as plunder to many nations. I will cut you off from being a nation and destroy you completely. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

Ezek.25.8

Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Moab and Seir do say, Behold, the house of Judah is like unto all the heathen;

Ezek.25.8

"GOD, the Master, says: Because Moab said, "Look, Judah's nothing special,'

Ezek.25.8

"This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'Because Moab and Seir said, "Look, the house of Judah has become like all the other nations,"

Ezek.25.8

"Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because Moab and Seir say, "Look! The house of Judah is like all the nations,'

Ezek.25.8

"And the Sovereign LORD says: Because the people of Moab have said that Judah is just like all the other nations,

Ezek.25.9

Therefore, behold, I will open the side of Moab from the cities, from his cities which are on his frontiers, the glory of the country, Bethjeshimoth, Baalmeon, and Kiriathaim,

Ezek.25.9

I'll lay wide open the flank of Moab by exposing its lovely frontier villages to attack: Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim.

Ezek.25.9

therefore I will expose the flank of Moab, beginning at its frontier towns-Beth Jeshimoth, Baal Meon and Kiriathaim-the glory of that land.

Ezek.25.9

therefore, behold, I will clear the territory of Moab of cities, of the cities on its frontier, the glory of the country, Beth Jeshimoth, Baal Meon, and Kirjathaim.

Ezek.25.9

I will open up their eastern flank and wipe out their glorious frontier cities--Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim.

Ezek.25.10

Unto the men of the east with the Ammonites, and will give them in possession, that the Ammonites may not be remembered among the nations.

Ezek.25.10

I'll lump Moab in with Ammon and give them to the people of the east for the taking. Ammon won't be heard from again.

Ezek.25.10

I will give Moab along with the Ammonites to the people of the East as a possession, so that the Ammonites will not be remembered among the nations;

To the men of the East I will give it as a possession, together with the Ammonites, that the Ammonites may not be remembered among the nations.

And I will hand Moab over to nomads from the eastern deserts, just as I handed over Ammon. Yes, the Ammonites will no longer be counted among the nations.

And I will execute judgments upon Moab; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them;

"GOD, the Master, says: Because Edom reacted against the people of Judah in spiteful revenge and was so criminally vengeful against them,

"This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'Because Edom took revenge on the house of Judah and became very guilty by doing so,

"Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because of what Edom did against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and has greatly offended by avenging itself on them,"

"And the Sovereign LORD says: The people of Edom have sinned greatly by avenging themselves against the people of Judah.

Ezek.25.13

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also stretch out mine hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword.

Ezek.25.13

therefore I, GOD, the Master, will oppose Edom and kill the lot of them, people and animals both. I'll waste it--corpses stretched from Teman to Dedan.

therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will stretch out my hand against Edom and kill its men and their animals. I will lay it waste, and from Teman to Dedan they will fall by the sword.

therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "I will also stretch out My hand against Edom, cut off man and beast from it, and make it desolate from Teman; Dedan shall fall by the sword.

Therefore, says the Sovereign LORD, I will raise my fist of judgment against Edom. I will wipe out their people, cattle, and flocks with the sword. I will make a wasteland of everything from Teman to Dedan.

Ezek.25.14

And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.

I'll use my people Israel to bring my vengeance down on Edom. My wrath will fuel their action. And they'll realize it's my vengeance. Decree of GOD the Master." [JC]

I will take vengeance on Edom by the hand of my people Israel, and they will deal with Edom in accordance with my anger and my wrath; they will know my vengeance, declares the Sovereign LORD.'"

I will lay My vengeance on Edom by the hand of My people Israel, that they may do in Edom according to My anger and according to My fury; and they shall know My vengeance," says the Lord GOD.

By the hand of my people of Israel, I will accomplish this. They will carry out my furious vengeance, and Edom will know it is from me. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!

Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred;

"GOD, the Master, says: Because the Philistines were so spitefully vengeful--all those centuries of stored-up malice!-and did their best to destroy Judah,

"This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'Because the Philistines acted in vengeance and took revenge with malice in their hearts, and with ancient hostility sought to destroy Judah,

"Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because the Philistines dealt vengefully and took vengeance with a spiteful heart, to destroy because of the old hatred,"

"And the Sovereign LORD says: The people of Philistia have acted against Judah out of revenge and long-standing contempt.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.

therefore I, GOD, the Master, will oppose the Philistines and cut down the Cretans and anybody else left along the seacoast.

therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Kerethites and destroy those remaining along the coast.

therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "I will stretch out My hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites and destroy the remnant of the seacoast.

Therefore, says the Sovereign LORD, I will raise my fist of judgment against the land of the Philistines. I will wipe out the Kerethites and utterly destroy the people who live by the sea.

And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

Huge acts of vengeance, massive punishments! When I bring vengeance, they'll realize that I am GOD."

I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I take vengeance on them.'"

I will execute terrible vengeance against them to rebuke them for what they have done. And when I have inflicted my revenge, then they will know that I am the LORD."
