Exod.19.1

In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.

Exod.19.1

Three months after leaving Egypt the Israelites entered the Wilderness of Sinai.

In the third month after the Israelites left Egypt-on the very day-they came to the Desert of Sinai.

In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai.

The Israelites arrived in the wilderness of Sinai exactly two months after they left Egypt.

For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.

Exod.19.2

They followed the route from Rephidim, arrived at the Wilderness of Sinai, and set up camp. Israel camped there facing the mountain.

After they set out from Rephidim, they entered the Desert of Sinai, and Israel camped there in the desert in front of the mountain.

Exod.19.2

For they had departed from Rephidim, had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness. So Israel camped there before the mountain.

After breaking camp at Rephidim, they came to the base of Mount Sinai and set up camp there.

Exod.19.3

And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;

As Moses went up to meet God, GOD called down to him from the mountain: "Speak to the House of Jacob, tell the People of Israel:

Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain and said, "This is what you are to say to the house of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel:

And Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, "Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:

Then Moses climbed the mountain to appear before God. The LORD called out to him from the mountain and said, "Give these instructions to the descendants of Jacob, the people of Israel:

Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

Exod.19.4

"You have seen what I did to Egypt and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to me.

Exod.19.4

'You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself.

Exod.19.4

"You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself.

Exod.19.4

`You have seen what I did to the Egyptians. You know how I brought you to myself and carried you on eagle's wings.

Exod.19.5

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

Exod.19.5

If you will listen obediently to what I say and keep my covenant, out of all peoples you'll be my special treasure. The whole Earth is mine to choose from,

Exod.19.5

Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,

Exod.19.5

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.

Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the nations of the earth; for all the earth belongs to me.

Exod.19.6

And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

but you're special: a kingdom of priests, a holy nation.'"This is what I want you to tell the People of Israel."

you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites."

And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."

And you will be to me a kingdom of priests, my holy nation.' Give this message to the Israelites."

And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.

Moses came back and called the elders of Israel together and set before them all these words which GOD had commanded him.

So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the LORD had commanded him to speak.

So Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which the LORD commanded him.

Exod.19.7

Moses returned from the mountain and called together the leaders of the people and told them what the LORD had said.

Exod.19.8

And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

Exod.19.8

The people were unanimous in their response: "Everything GOD says, we will do." Moses took the people's answer back to GOD. [JC]

The people all responded together, "We will do everything the LORD has said." So Moses brought their answer back to the LORD.

Then all the people answered together and said, "All that the LORD has spoken we will do." So Moses brought back the words of the people to the LORD.

They all responded together, "We will certainly do everything the LORD asks of us." So Moses brought the people's answer back to the LORD.

Exod.19.9

And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.

Exod.19.9

GOD said to Moses, "Get ready. I'm about to come to you in a thick cloud so that the people can listen in and trust you completely when I speak with you." Again Moses reported the people's answer to GOD.

Exod.19.9

The LORD said to Moses, "I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you." Then Moses told the LORD what the people had said.

Exod.19.9

And the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever." So Moses told the words of the people to the LORD.

Exod.19.9

Then the LORD said to Moses, "I am going to come to you in a thick cloud so the people themselves can hear me as I speak to you. Then they will always have confidence in you." Moses told the LORD what the people had said.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,

GOD said to Moses, "Go to the people. For the next two days get these people ready to meet the Holy GOD. Have them scrub their clothes

And the LORD said to Moses, "Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes.

Then the LORD told Moses, "Go down and prepare the people for my visit. Purify them today and tomorrow, and have them wash their clothing.

And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

so that on the third day they'll be fully prepared, because on the third day GOD will come down on Mount Sinai and make his presence known to all the people.

And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:

Post boundaries for the people all around, telling them, "Warning! Don't climb the mountain. Don't even touch its edge. Whoever touches the mountain dies--a certain death.

Put limits for the people around the mountain and tell them, 'Be careful that you do not go up the mountain or touch the foot of it. Whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death.

You shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, "Take heed to yourselves that you do not go up to the mountain or touch its base. Whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death.

Set boundary lines that the people may not pass. Warn them, `Be careful! Do not go up on the mountain or even touch its boundaries. Those who do will certainly die!

There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.

Exod.19.13

And no one is to touch that person, he's to be stoned. That's right--stoned. Or shot with arrows, shot to death. Animal or man, whichever--put to death.'"A long blast from the horn will signal that it's safe to climb the mountain."

He shall surely be stoned or shot with arrows; not a hand is to be laid on him. Whether man or animal, he shall not be permitted to live.' Only when the ram's horn sounds a long blast may they go up to the mountain."

Not a hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot with an arrow; whether man or beast, he shall not live.' When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come near the mountain."

Any people or animals that cross the boundary must be stoned to death or shot with arrows. They must not be touched by human hands.' The people must stay away from the mountain until they hear one long blast from the ram's horn. Then they must gather at the foot of the mountain."

And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.

Moses went down the mountain to the people and prepared them for the holy meeting. They gave their clothes a good scrubbing.

After Moses had gone down the mountain to the people, he consecrated them, and they washed their clothes.

And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.

Then he addressed the people: "Be ready in three days. Don't sleep with a woman."

Then he said to the people, "Prepare yourselves for the third day. Abstain from sexual relations."

And he said to the people, "Be ready for the third day; do not come near your wives."

He told them, "Get ready for an important event two days from now. And until then, abstain from having sexual intercourse."

And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

On the third day at daybreak, there were loud claps of thunder, flashes of lightning, a thick cloud covering the mountain, and an ear-piercing trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp shuddered in fear.

On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled.

Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.

On the morning of the third day, there was a powerful thunder and lightning storm, and a dense cloud came down upon the mountain. There was a long, loud blast from a ram's horn, and all the people trembled.

And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God. They stood at attention at the base of the mountain.

And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

Mount Sinai was all smoke because GOD had come down on it as fire. Smoke poured from it like smoke from a furnace. The whole mountain shuddered in huge spasms.

Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, the whole mountain trembled violently,

Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.

All Mount Sinai was covered with smoke because the LORD had descended on it in the form of fire. The smoke billowed into the sky like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain shook with a violent earthquake.

And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

The trumpet blasts grew louder and louder. Moses spoke and God answered in thunder.

and the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder. Then Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.

And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice.

As the horn blast grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God thundered his reply for all to hear.

And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

GOD descended to the peak of Mount Sinai. GOD called Moses up to the peak and Moses climbed up.

The LORD descended to the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. So Moses went up

Then the LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.

GOD said to Moses, "Go down. Warn the people not to break through the barricades to get a look at GOD lest many of them die.

and the LORD said to him, "Go down and warn the people so they do not force their way through to see the LORD and many of them perish.

And the LORD said to Moses, "Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to gaze at the LORD, and many of them perish.

Then the LORD told Moses, "Go back down and warn the people not to cross the boundaries. They must not come up here to see the LORD, for those who do will die.

And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.

And the priests also, warn them to prepare themselves for the holy meeting, lest GOD break out against them."

Even the priests, who approach the LORD, must consecrate themselves, or the LORD will break out against them."

Also let the priests who come near the LORD consecrate themselves, lest the LORD break out against them."

Even the priests who regularly come near to the LORD must purify themselves, or I will destroy them."

And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.

Moses said to GOD, "But the people can't climb Mount Sinai. You've already warned us well telling us: "Post boundaries around the mountain. Respect the holy mountain.'"

Moses said to the LORD, "The people cannot come up Mount Sinai, because you yourself warned us, 'Put limits around the mountain and set it apart as holy.'"

But Moses said to the LORD, "The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai; for You warned us, saying, "Set bounds around the mountain and consecrate it."'

Exod.19.23

"But LORD, the people cannot come up on the mountain!" Moses protested. "You already told them not to. You told me to set boundaries around the mountain and to declare it off limits."

Exod.19.24

And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.

GOD told him, "Go down and then bring Aaron back up with you. But make sure that the priests and the people don't break through and come up to GOD, lest he break out against them."

The LORD replied, "Go down and bring Aaron up with you. But the priests and the people must not force their way through to come up to the LORD, or he will break out against them."

Then the LORD said to him, "Away! Get down and then come up, you and Aaron with you. But do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the LORD, lest He break out against them."

But the LORD said, "Go down anyway and bring Aaron back with you. In the meantime, do not let the priests or the people cross the boundaries to come up here. If they do, I will punish them."

So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.

Then God instructed the people as follows:

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

"Do not make idols of any kind, whether in the shape of birds or animals or fish.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Exod.20.5

Don't bow down to them and don't serve them because I am GOD your God, and I'm a most jealous God, punishing the children for any sins their parents pass on to them to the third, and yes, even to the fourth generation of those who hate me.

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

Exod.20.5

You must never worship or bow down to them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not share your affection with any other god! I do not leave unpunished the sins of those who hate me, but I punish the children for the sins of their parents to the third and fourth generations.

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

But I'm unswervingly loyal to the thousands who love me and keep my commandments.

but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

But I lavish my love on those who love me and obey my commands, even for a thousand generations.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

No using the name of GOD your God, in curses or silly banter; GOD won't put up with the irreverant use of his name.

"You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

"Do not misuse the name of the LORD your God. The LORD will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

But the seventh day is a Sabbath to GOD your God. Don't do any work--not you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your servant, nor your maid, nor your animals, not even the foreign guest visiting in your town.

"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

Make me an earthen Altar. Sacrifice your Whole-Burnt-Offerings, your Peace-Offerings, your sheep, and your cattle on it. Every place where I cause my name to be honored in your worship, I'll be there myself and bless you.

"'Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you.

If you use stones to make my Altar, don't use dressed stones. If you use a chisel on the stones you'll profane the Altar.

If you build altars from stone, use only uncut stones. Do not chip or shape the stones with a tool, for that would make them unfit for holy use.

Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
