And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I have anointed thee king over Israel.

"That's a lie!" they said. "Tell us what's going on." He said, "He told me this and this and this--in effect, "GOD's word: I anoint you king of Israel!'"

"You're lying," they said. "Tell us." So Jehu told them what the man had said and that at the LORD's command he had been anointed king over Israel.
