The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand. (Esther 9:10)
Text: ESTHER 9:1-11
Man, while succumbing to his darkest impulse, have plotted and hatched unprintable evils against his fellow man. Adolf Hitler and his associates, in their madness in the early 1940's, killed about six million Jews in the overcrowded concentration camps and the gas chambers. It was the most heinous of crimes to be committed against humanity in the history of the world. Examining the consequences today, many of Hitler's henchmen have faced one nemesis or the other as they sought to run from one continent to the other - never quite able to hide themselves from the long arm of justice and calamitous death that is reserved for evil doers.
From the text, we see the divine hand of providence changing a previously hopeless situation and turning the hunted Israelites into the hunters in the drama that played out in the days of Esther, the Queen. Haman, the son of Hammedatha, in a ridiculous overreaction to Mordecai’s disrespect, had hoped to wipe out the entire Jewish population, but it turned out that himself, his own children, supporters and all the enemies of the Jews faced the exact punishment prescribed by Haman.
Everyone should know that what goes round comes around. Those who concoct wicked acts against their neighbours must be ready to play host to the very evil they hoped to unleash against others. Those who set aside the laws of God in order to reorder society according to their own dogmas cannot escape the wrath and punishment of God. The incorruptible Judge is watching over the good and the evil.
You shall reap what you sow
