Dottie Rambo, a multiple award-winning American gospel singer who lived between 1934 and 2008 will be remembered for one of her most notable songs titled "I go to the Rock". She developed an early affinity for country music and learned to play the guitar. At 8, she started writing songs and at 10, she was singing and playing country music cover tunes on a local‘ radio programme. She became a born-again Christian at 12 years old and made a commitment to write and sing Christian music. The decision led her to a crossroads at such an early age. Her father gave her an ultimatum - ”give up Christian music or leave". She left home and went on the road. She started living with Pastors’ families. This experience must have inspired the lyrics of her songs which have blessed so many lives over the years. 

Moab was subservient to Israel under the reign of Ahab, but after the death of Ahab, the king of Moab rebelled against Israel. Mesha, the king of Moab stopped paying the regular tribute to Israel. In order to regain his lordship over the king of Moab, Jehoram the king of Israel formed an alliance with Jehoshaphatthe king of Judah and the king of Edom. They raised a formidable force and embarked on a journey to battle against Moab. Along the line of their journey, they came to a crossroads. They were left confused and disorganized. Jehoshaphat’s counsel became providential.

Crossroads are inevitable in life but when in such situation, the wisest thing to do is to seek divine help. There are those who will choose to accuse God like Jehoram did (2 Kings 3:10). This will only lead to destruction. But, like the presence of Jehoshaphat made a difference, you can be a beacon of righteousness, radiating the glory of Christ to your neighbourhood and providing security to your acquaintances with your abiding faith in God.
