The Perfect Reign Is Coming

But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel. 2 Chronicles 6:6

Bible scholars agree that the golden age of ancient Israel was during the reign of Solomon, son of King David. They hold the view that the period witnessed unprecedented peace, power, prosperity, prestige and an ambitious expansion of the kingdom. Another indisputable consensus is that the era began with Solomon inviting God to step into the project of ruling the people from day one.

Solomon pleaded while dedicating the temple in Jerusalem: "Now, my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be attent unto the prayer that is made in this place". God’s answer to the request is found in the tranquility and blessedness enjoyed in Israel in the days of Solomon. The young monarch swam in splendour and greatness not witnessed by his father whose reign was full of rebellion and family troubles. Solomon was endowed with wisdom, knowledge and understanding that attracted great men and woman from far and near to his palace. His proverbs and sayings were not ordinary. His utterances soothed and comforted the sorrowful.

Although rich, Solomon still saw kings and queens bringing more wealth to him. You enjoy prosperity when you ask God to step into your affairs.

We may marvel at the abundance supply in the time of Solomon. But it is only symbolic of a far better reign which is to come under the Perfect King Jesus Christ. It foreshadows the eternal reign of the King of kings in Whose time we shall have a "kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed" (Daniel 7:14).
