Ps.53.1

Bilious and bloated, they gas, "God is gone." It's poison gas--they foul themselves, they poison Rivers and skies; thistles are their cash crop.

The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good.

God sticks his head out of heaven. He looks around. He's looking for someone not stupid--one man, even, God--expectant, just one God--ready woman.

God looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if there is even one with real understanding, one who seeks for God.

He comes up empty. A string of zeros. Useless, unshepherded Sheep, taking turns pretending to be Shepherd. The ninety and nine follow the one.

Everyone has turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

But no, all have turned away from God; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not even one!

Don't they know anything, all these impostors? Don't they know they can't get away with this, Treating people like a fast-food meal over which they're too busy to pray?

Will the evildoers never learn- those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on God?

Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon God?

Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread; they wouldn't think of praying to God.

Ps.53.5

Night is coming for them, and nightmare--a nightmare they'll never wake up from. God will make hash of these squatters, send them packing for good.

There they were, overwhelmed with dread, where there was nothing to dread. God scattered the bones of those who attacked you; you put them to shame, for God despised them.

There they are in great fear Where no fear was, For God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you; You have put them to shame, Because God has despised them.

But then terror will grip them, terror like they have never known before. God will scatter the bones of your enemies. You will put them to shame, for God has rejected them.

Ps.53.6

Is there anyone around to save Israel? God turns life around. Turned-around Jacob skips rope, turned-around Israel sings laughter.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God brings back the captivity of His people, Let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.

Oh, that salvation would come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel! For when God restores his people, Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice.
