Ps.35.1

Harass these hecklers, GOD, punch these bullies in the nose.

Ps.35.1

Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.

Plead my cause, O LORD, with those who strive with me; Fight against those who fight against me.

O LORD, oppose those who oppose me. Declare war on those who are attacking me.

Grab a weapon, anything at hand; stand up for me!

Take up shield and buckler; arise and come to my aid.

Take hold of shield and buckler, And stand up for my help.

Put on your armor, and take up your shield. Prepare for battle, and come to my aid.

Get ready to throw the spear, aim the javelin, at the people who are out to get me. Reassure me; let me hear you say, "I'll save you."

Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Say to my soul, "I am your salvation."

Also draw out the spear, And stop those who pursue me. Say to my soul, "I am your salvation."

Lift up your spear and javelin and block the way of my enemies. Let me hear you say, "I am your salvation!"

Ps.35.4

When those thugs try to knife me in the back, make them look foolish. Frustrate all those who are plotting my downfall.

May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay.

Let those be put to shame and brought to dishonor Who seek after my life; Let those be turned back and brought to confusion Who plot my hurt.

Humiliate and disgrace those trying to kill me; turn them back in confusion.

Make them like cinders in a high wind, with GOD's angel working the bellows.

May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them away;

Let them be like chaff before the wind, And let the angel of the LORD chase them.

Blow them away like chaff in the wind--a wind sent by the angel of the LORD.

Make their road lightless and mud-slick, with GOD's angel on their tails.

may their path be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.

Out of sheer cussedness they set a trap to catch me; for no good reason they dug a ditch to stop me.

Since they hid their net for me without cause and without cause dug a pit for me,

For without cause they have hidden their net for me in a pit, Which they have dug without cause for my life.

Although I did them no wrong, they laid a trap for me. Although I did them no wrong, they dug a pit for me.

Ps.35.8

Surprise them with your ambush--catch them in the very trap they set, the disaster they planned for me.

may ruin overtake them by surprise- may the net they hid entangle them, may they fall into the pit, to their ruin.

Let destruction come upon him unexpectedly, And let his net that he has hidden catch himself; Into that very destruction let him fall.

So let sudden ruin overtake them! Let them be caught in the snare they set for me! Let them fall to destruction in the pit they dug for me.

Ps.35.9

But let me run loose and free, celebrating GOD's great work,

Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD and delight in his salvation.

And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD; It shall rejoice in His salvation.

Then I will rejoice in the LORD. I will be glad because he rescues me.

Ps.35.10

Every bone in my body laughing, singing, "GOD, there's no one like you. You put the down--and-out on their feet and protect the unprotected from bullies!"

My whole being will exclaim, "Who is like you, O LORD? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them."

Ps.35.10

All my bones shall say, "LORD, who is like You, Delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, Yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?"

Ps.35.10

I will praise him from the bottom of my heart: "LORD, who can compare with you? Who else rescues the weak and helpless from the strong? Who else protects the poor and needy from those who want to rob them?"
