Prov.5.1

My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

Dear friend, pay close attention to this, my wisdom; listen very closely to the way I see it.

My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen well to my words of insight,

My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding,

My son, pay attention to my wisdom; listen carefully to my wise counsel.

Prov.5.2

That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

Then you'll acquire a taste for good sense; what I tell you will keep you out of trouble.

that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge.

Then you will learn to be discreet and will store up knowledge.

For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

The lips of a seductive woman are oh so sweet, her soft words are oh so smooth.

Prov.5.3

For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil;

Prov.5.3

For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil;

Prov.5.3

The lips of an immoral woman are as sweet as honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil.

Prov.5.4

But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

Prov.5.4

But it won't be long before she's gravel in your mouth, a pain in your gut, a wound in your heart.

Prov.5.4

but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword.

Prov.5.4

But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.

Prov.5.4

But the result is as bitter as poison, sharp as a double-edged sword.

Prov.5.5

Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

Prov.5.5

She's dancing down the primrose path to Death; she's headed straight for Hell and taking you with her.

Prov.5.5

Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.

Prov.5.5

Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell.

Prov.5.5

Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.

Prov.5.6

Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

Prov.5.6

She hasn't a clue about Real Life, about who she is or where she's going.

Prov.5.6

She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths are crooked, but she knows it not.

Prov.5.6

Lest you ponder her path of life-- Her ways are unstable; You do not know them.

Prov.5.6

For she does not care about the path to life. She staggers down a crooked trail and doesn't even realize where it leads.

Prov.5.7

Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

Prov.5.7

So, my friend, listen closely; don't treat my words casually.

Prov.5.7

Now then, my sons, listen to me; do not turn aside from what I say.

Prov.5.7

Therefore hear me now, my children, And do not depart from the words of my mouth.

Prov.5.7

So now, my sons, listen to me. Never stray from what I am about to say:

Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

Prov.5.8

Keep your distance from such a woman; absolutely stay out of her neighborhood.

Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house,

Prov.5.8

Remove your way far from her, And do not go near the door of her house,

Run from her! Don't go near the door of her house!

Prov.5.9

Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

Prov.5.9

You don't want to squander your wonderful life, to waste your precious life among the hardhearted.

Prov.5.9

lest you give your best strength to others and your years to one who is cruel,

Prov.5.9

Lest you give your honor to others, And your years to the cruel one;

Prov.5.9

If you do, you will lose your honor and hand over to merciless people everything you have achieved in life.

Prov.5.10

Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

Prov.5.10

Why should you allow strangers to take advantage of you? Why be exploited by those who care nothing for you?

Prov.5.10

lest strangers feast on your wealth and your toil enrich another man's house.

Prov.5.10

Lest aliens be filled with your wealth, And your labors go to the house of a foreigner;

Prov.5.10

Strangers will obtain your wealth, and someone else will enjoy the fruit of your labor.

Prov.5.11

And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

Prov.5.11

You don't want to end your life full of regrets, nothing but sin and bones,

Prov.5.11

At the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and body are spent.

Prov.5.11

And you mourn at last, When your flesh and your body are consumed,

Prov.5.11

Afterward you will groan in anguish when disease consumes your body,

Prov.5.12

And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

Prov.5.12

Saying, "Oh, why didn't I do what they told me? Why did I reject a disciplined life?

Prov.5.12

You will say, "How I hated discipline! How my heart spurned correction!

Prov.5.12

And say: "How I have hated instruction, And my heart despised correction!

Prov.5.12

and you will say, "How I hated discipline! If only I had not demanded my own way!

Prov.5.13

And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

Prov.5.13

Why didn't I listen to my mentors, or take my teachers seriously?

Prov.5.13

I would not obey my teachers or listen to my instructors.

Prov.5.13

I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me!

Prov.5.13

Oh, why didn't I listen to my teachers? Why didn't I pay attention to those who gave me instruction?

Prov.5.14

I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

Prov.5.14

My life is ruined! I haven't one blessed thing to show for my life!"

Prov.5.14

I have come to the brink of utter ruin in the midst of the whole assembly."

Prov.5.14

I was on the verge of total ruin, In the midst of the assembly and congregation."

Prov.5.14

I have come to the brink of utter ruin, and now I must face public disgrace."
