Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

Lady Wisdom goes out in the street and shouts. At the town center she makes her speech.

Wisdom calls aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the public squares;

Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares.

Wisdom shouts in the streets. She cries out in the public square.

She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

In the middle of the traffic she takes her stand. At the busiest corner she calls out:

at the head of the noisy streets she cries out, in the gateways of the city she makes her speech:

She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words:

She calls out to the crowds along the main street, and to those in front of city hall.

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

"Simpletons! How long will you wallow in ignorance? Cynics! How long will you feed your cynicism? Idiots! How long will you refuse to learn?

"How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?

Prov.1.22

"How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge.

Prov.1.22

"You simpletons!" she cries. "How long will you go on being simpleminded? How long will you mockers relish your mocking? How long will you fools fight the facts?

Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

About face! I can revise your life. Look, I'm ready to pour out my spirit on you; I'm ready to tell you all I know.

Prov.1.23

If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you.

Prov.1.23

Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.

Prov.1.23

Come here and listen to me! I'll pour out the spirit of wisdom upon you and make you wise.

Prov.1.24

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

As it is, I've called, but you've turned a deaf ear; I've reached out to you, but you've ignored me.

But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand,

Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,

"I called you so often, but you didn't come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention.

Prov.1.25

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

"Since you laugh at my counsel and make a joke of my advice,

Prov.1.25

since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke,

Prov.1.25

Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke,

Prov.1.25

You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered.

Prov.1.26

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

Prov.1.26

How can I take you seriously? I'll turn the tables and joke about your troubles!

Prov.1.26

I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you-

Prov.1.26

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes,

Prov.1.26

So I will laugh when you are in trouble! I will mock you when disaster overtakes you--

Prov.1.27

When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

What if the roof falls in, and your whole life goes to pieces? What if catastrophe strikes and there's nothing to show for your life but rubble and ashes?

Prov.1.27

when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.

When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.

Prov.1.27

when calamity overcomes you like a storm, when you are engulfed by trouble, and when anguish and distress overwhelm you.

Prov.1.28

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

You'll need me then. You'll call for me, but don't expect an answer. No matter how hard you look, you won't find me.

"Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me.

Prov.1.28

"Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.

Prov.1.28

"I will not answer when they cry for help. Even though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me.

Prov.1.29

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

Prov.1.29

"Because you hated Knowledge and had nothing to do with the Fear-of-GOD,

Prov.1.29

Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD,

Prov.1.29

Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD,

Prov.1.29

For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD.

Prov.1.30

They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

Prov.1.30

Because you wouldn't take my advice and brushed aside all my offers to train you,

Prov.1.30

since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke,

Prov.1.30

They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke.

Prov.1.30

They rejected my advice and paid no attention when I corrected them.

Prov.1.31

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

Prov.1.31

Well, you've made your bed--now lie in it; you wanted your own way--now, how do you like it?

Prov.1.31

they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

Prov.1.31

Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies.

Prov.1.31

That is why they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way. They must experience the full terror of the path they have chosen.

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

Don't you see what happens, you simpletons, you idiots? Carelessness kills; complacency is murder.

Prov.1.32

For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them;

Prov.1.32

For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them;

Prov.1.32

For they are simpletons who turn away from me--to death. They are fools, and their own complacency will destroy them.

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Prov.1.33

First pay attention to me, and then relax. Now you can take it easy--you're in good hands."
