Paul and Timothy, both of us committed servants of Christ Jesus, write this letter to all the Christians in Philippi, pastors and ministers included.

This letter is from Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus. It is written to all of God's people in Philippi, who believe in Christ Jesus, and to the elders and deacons.

We greet you with the grace and peace that comes from God our Father and our Master, Jesus Christ.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God.

I thank my God every time I remember you.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.

Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart.

In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy

always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,

I always pray for you, and I make my requests with a heart full of joy

I am so pleased that you have continued on in this with us, believing and proclaiming God's Message, from the day you heard it right up to the present.

because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,

for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,

because you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now.

There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

And I am sure that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Christ Jesus comes back again.

It's not at all fanciful for me to think this way about you. My prayers and hopes have deep roots in reality. You have, after all, stuck with me all the way from the time I was thrown in jail, put on trial, and came out of it in one piece. All along you have experienced with me the most generous help from God.

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me.

just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace.

It is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a very special place in my heart. We have shared together the blessings of God, both when I was in prison and when I was out, defending the truth and telling others the Good News.

He knows how much I love and miss you these days. Sometimes I think I feel as strongly about you as Christ does!

God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.

God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus.

So this is my prayer: that your love will flourish and that you will not only love much but well. Learn to love appropriately. You need to use your head and test your feelings

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

I pray that your love for each other will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in your knowledge and understanding.

so that your love is sincere and intelligent, not sentimental gush. Live a lover's life, circumspect and exemplary, a life Jesus will be proud of:

so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ,

that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,

For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until Christ returns.

bountiful in fruits from the soul, making Jesus Christ attractive to all, getting everyone involved in the glory and praise of God.

filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the glory and praise of God.

being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation--those good things that are produced in your life by Jesus Christ--for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

Phil.1.12

I want to report to you, friends, that my imprisonment here has had the opposite of its intended effect. Instead of being squelched, the Message has actually prospered.

Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel.

But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,

And I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News.

Phil.1.13

All the soldiers here, and everyone else too, found out that I'm in jail because of this Messiah. That piqued their curiosity, and now they've learned all about him.

As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.

so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;

For everyone here, including all the soldiers in the palace guard, knows that I am in chains because of Christ.

Phil.1.14

Not only that, but most of the Christians here have become far more sure of themselves in the faith than ever, speaking out fearlessly about God, about the Messiah.

Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.

Phil.1.14

and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

Phil.1.14

And because of my imprisonment, many of the Christians here have gained confidence and become more bold in telling others about Christ.

It's true that some here preach Christ because with me out of the way, they think they'll step right into the spotlight. But the others do it with the best heart in the world.

It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill.

Phil.1.15

Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill:

Some are preaching out of jealousy and rivalry. But others preach about Christ with pure motives.

Phil.1.16

One group is motivated by pure love, knowing that I am here defending the Message, wanting to help.

Phil.1.16

The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.

Phil.1.16

The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains;

They preach because they love me, for they know the Lord brought me here to defend the Good News.

Phil.1.17

The others, now that I'm out of the picture, are merely greedy, hoping to get something out of it for themselves. Their motives are bad. They see me as their competition, and so the worse it goes for me, the better--they think--for them.

The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.

but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.

Those others do not have pure motives as they preach about Christ. They preach with selfish ambition, not sincerely, intending to make my chains more painful to me.

Phil.1.18

So how am I to respond? I've decided that I really don't care about their motives, whether mixed, bad, or indifferent. Every time one of them opens his mouth, Christ is proclaimed, so I just cheer them on! And I'm going to keep that celebration going

But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

Phil.1.18

But whether or not their motives are pure, the fact remains that the message about Christ is being preached, so I rejoice. And I will continue to rejoice.

Phil.1.19

because I know how it's going to turn out. Through your faithful prayers and the generous response of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, everything he wants to do in and through me will be done.

Phil.1.19

Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.

For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

For I know that as you pray for me and as the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will all turn out for my deliverance.

I can hardly wait to continue on my course. I don't expect to be embarrassed in the least. On the contrary, everything happening to me in this jail only serves to make Christ more accurately known, regardless of whether I live or die. They didn't shut me up; they gave me a pulpit!

I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

For I live in eager expectation and hope that I will never do anything that causes me shame, but that I will always be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past, and that my life will always honor Christ, whether I live or I die.

Phil.1.21

Alive, I'm Christ's messenger; dead, I'm his bounty. Life versus even more life! I can't lose.

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

For to me, living is for Christ, and dying is even better.

Phil.1.22

As long as I'm alive in this body, there is good work for me to do. If I had to choose right now, I hardly know which I'd choose.

If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!

But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell.

Yet if I live, that means fruitful service for Christ. I really don't know which is better.

Hard choice! The desire to break camp here and be with Christ is powerful. Some days I can think of nothing better

I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;

Phil.1.23

For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

Phil.1.23

I'm torn between two desires: Sometimes I want to live, and sometimes I long to go and be with Christ. That would be far better for me,

Phil.1.24

. But most days, because of what you are going through, I am sure that it's better for me to stick it out here.

Phil.1.24

but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.

Phil.1.24

Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.

Phil.1.24

but it is better for you that I live.

Phil.1.25

So I plan to be around awhile, companion to you as your growth and joy in this life of trusting God continues.

Phil.1.25

Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,

And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith,

I am convinced of this, so I will continue with you so that you will grow and experience the joy of your faith.

Phil.1.26

You can start looking forward to a great reunion when I come visit you again. We'll be praising Christ, enjoying each other.

so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me.

Phil.1.26

that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.

Phil.1.26

Then when I return to you, you will have even more reason to boast about what Christ Jesus has done for me.
