Matt.10.32

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

Matt.10.32

"Stand up for me against world opinion and I'll stand up for you before my Father in heaven.

"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.

"If anyone acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will openly acknowledge that person before my Father in heaven.

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

If you turn tail and run, do you think I'll cover for you?

But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

But if anyone denies me here on earth, I will deny that person before my Father in heaven.

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

"Don't think I've come to make life cozy. I've come to cut--

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

"Don't imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! No, I came to bring a sword.

For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

make a sharp knife-cut between son and father, daughter and mother, bride and mother-in-law--cut through these cozy domestic arrangements and free you for God.

For I have come to turn "'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law--

For I have come to "set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law';

I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

Matt.10.36

And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Well-meaning family members can be your worst enemies.

a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'

and "a man's enemies will be those of his own household.'

Your enemies will be right in your own household!

Matt.10.37

He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

If you prefer father or mother over me, you don't deserve me. If you prefer son or daughter over me, you don't deserve me.

"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;

He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine.

And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

"If you don't go all the way with me, through thick and thin, you don't deserve me.

and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

If your first concern is to look after yourself, you'll never find yourself. But if you forget about yourself and look to me, you'll find both yourself and me.

Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give it up for me, you will find it.

He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

"We are intimately linked in this harvest work. Anyone who accepts what you do, accepts me, the One who sent you. Anyone who accepts what I do accepts my Father, who sent me.

"He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me.

"He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.

"Anyone who welcomes you is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me.

He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

Matt.10.41

Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God's messenger. Accepting someone's help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I've called you into, but don't be overwhelmed by it. It's best to start small.

Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward.

He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

If you welcome a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will receive the same reward a prophet gets. And if you welcome good and godly people because of their godliness, you will be given a reward like theirs.

Matt.10.42

And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won't lose out on a thing."

And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward."

And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward."

And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded."

And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

When Jesus finished placing this charge before his twelve disciples, he went on to teach and preach in their villages.

After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee.

Now it came to pass, when Jesus finished commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.

When Jesus had finished giving these instructions to his twelve disciples, he went off teaching and preaching in towns throughout the country.

Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

John, meanwhile, had been locked up in prison. When he got wind of what Jesus was doing, he sent his own disciples

And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples

John the Baptist, who was now in prison, heard about all the things the Messiah was doing. So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus,

And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

Matt.11.3

to ask, "Are you the One we've been expecting, or are we still waiting?"

Matt.11.3

to ask him, "Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?"

Matt.11.3

and said to Him, "Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?"

Matt.11.3

"Are you really the Messiah we've been waiting for, or should we keep looking for someone else?"

Matt.11.4

Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

Jesus told them, "Go back and tell John what's going on:

Jesus replied, "Go back and report to John what you hear and see:

Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:

Jesus told them, "Go back to John and tell him about what you have heard and seen--

Matt.11.5

The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Matt.11.5

The blind see, The lame walk, Lepers are cleansed, The deaf hear, The dead are raised, The wretched of the earth learn that God is on their side.

Matt.11.5

The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.

Matt.11.5

The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Matt.11.5

the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.

Matt.11.6

And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Matt.11.6

"Is this what you were expecting? Then count yourselves most blessed!"

Matt.11.6

Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me."

Matt.11.6

And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me."

Matt.11.6

And tell him: 'God blesses those who are not offended by me. '"

And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

Matt.11.7

When John's disciples left to report, Jesus started talking to the crowd about John. "What did you expect when you went out to see him in the wild? A weekend camper?

As John's disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: "What did you go out into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind?

Matt.11.7

As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

Matt.11.7

When John's disciples had gone, Jesus began talking about him to the crowds. "Who is this man in the wilderness that you went out to see? Did you find him weak as a reed, moved by every breath of wind?

Matt.11.8

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

Matt.11.8

Hardly. What then? A sheik in silk pajamas? Not in the wilderness, not by a long shot.

Matt.11.8

If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings' palaces.

Matt.11.8

But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

Matt.11.8

Or were you expecting to see a man dressed in expensive clothes? Those who dress like that live in palaces, not out in the wilderness.

But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

Matt.11.9

What then? A prophet? That's right, a prophet! Probably the best prophet you'll ever hear.

Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.

Matt.11.9

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.

Matt.11.9

Were you looking for a prophet? Yes, and he is more than a prophet.

Matt.11.10

For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

He is the prophet that Malachi announced when he wrote, "I'm sending my prophet ahead of you, to make the road smooth for you.'

This is the one about whom it is written: "'I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.'

For this is he of whom it is written: "Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.'

Matt.11.10

John is the man to whom the Scriptures refer when they say, 'Look, I am sending my messenger before you, and he will prepare your way before you.'

Matt.11.11

Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Matt.11.11

"Let me tell you what's going on here: No one in history surpasses John the Baptizer; but in the kingdom he prepared you for, the lowliest person is ahead of him.

I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

"Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

"I assure you, of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the most insignificant person in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he is!

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

For a long time now people have tried to force themselves into God's kingdom.

Matt.11.12

From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

Matt.11.12

And from the time John the Baptist began preaching and baptizing until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has been forcefully advancing, and violent people attack it.

Matt.11.13

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

Matt.11.13

But if you read the books of the Prophets and God's Law closely, you will see them culminate in John, teaming up with him in preparing the way for the Messiah of the kingdom.

For before John came, all the teachings of the Scriptures looked forward to this present time.

And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

Looked at in this way, John is the "Elijah' you've all been expecting to arrive and introduce the Messiah.

And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.

And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come.

And if you are willing to accept what I say, he is Elijah, the one the prophets said would come.

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

"Are you listening to me? Really listening?

Matt.11.15

He who has ears, let him hear.

Matt.11.15

He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

Matt.11.15

Anyone who is willing to hear should listen and understand!
