Mark.13.1

As he walked away from the Temple, one of his disciples said, "Teacher, look at that stonework! Those buildings!"

As he was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!"

Then as He went out of the temple, one of His disciples said to Him, "Teacher, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!"

As Jesus was leaving the Temple that day, one of his disciples said, "Teacher, look at these tremendous buildings! Look at the massive stones in the walls!"

Mark.13.2

Jesus said, "You're impressed by this grandiose architecture? There's not a stone in the whole works that is not going to end up in a heap of rubble."

"Do you see all these great buildings?" replied Jesus. "Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."

And Jesus answered and said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

Jesus replied, "These magnificent buildings will be so completely demolished that not one stone will be left on top of another."

Later, as he was sitting on Mount Olives in full view of the Temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew got him off by himself and asked,

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately,

Later, Jesus sat on the slopes of the Mount of Olives across the valley from the Temple. Peter, James, John, and Andrew came to him privately and asked him,

"Tell us, when is this going to happen? What sign will we get that things are coming to a head?"

"Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?"

"Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?"

"When will all this take place? And will there be any sign ahead of time to show us when all this will be fulfilled?"

Jesus began, "Watch out for doomsday deceivers.

Jesus said to them: "Watch out that no one deceives you.

Mark.13.5

And Jesus, answering them, began to say: "Take heed that no one deceives you.

Jesus replied, "Don't let anyone mislead you,

Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities claiming, "I'm the One.' They will deceive a lot of people.

Many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and will deceive many.

Mark.13.6

For many will come in My name, saying, "I am He,' and will deceive many.

Mark.13.6

because many will come in my name, claiming to be the Messiah. They will lead many astray.

Mark.13.7

When you hear of wars and rumored wars, keep your head and don't panic. This is routine history, and no sign of the end.

And wars will break out near and far, but don't panic. Yes, these things must come, but the end won't follow immediately.

Nation will fight nation and ruler fight ruler, over and over. Earthquakes will occur in various places. There will be famines. But these things are nothing compared to what's coming.

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.

Nations and kingdoms will proclaim war against each other, and there will be earthquakes in many parts of the world, and famines. But all this will be only the beginning of the horrors to come.

"And watch out! They're going to drag you into court. And then it will go from bad to worse, dog-eat-dog, everyone at your throat because you carry my name. You're placed there as sentinels to truth.

"You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.

"But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them.

But when these things begin to happen, watch out! You will be handed over to the courts and beaten in the synagogues. You will be accused before governors and kings of being my followers. This will be your opportunity to tell them about me.

The Message has to be preached all across the world.

"When they bring you, betrayed, into court, don't worry about what you'll say. When the time comes, say what's on your heart--the Holy Spirit will make his witness in and through you.

Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.

But when you are arrested and stand trial, don't worry about what to say in your defense. Just say what God tells you to. Then it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

"It's going to be brother killing brother, father killing child, children killing parents.

"Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.

There's no telling who will hate you because of me. "Stay with it--that's what is required. Stay with it to the end. You won't be sorry; you'll be saved.

"But be ready to run for it when you see the monster of desecration set up where it should never be. You who can read, make sure you understand what I'm talking about. If you're living in Judea at the time, run for the hills;

"When you see 'the abomination that causes desolation' standing where it does not belong--let the reader understand--then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

"So when you see the "abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not" (let the reader understand), "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

"The time will come when you will see the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing where it should not be"--reader, pay attention! "Then those in Judea must flee to the hills.

if you're working in the yard, don't go back to the house to get anything;

Pregnant and nursing mothers will have it especially hard.

Hope and pray this won't happen in the middle of winter.

"These are going to be hard days--nothing like it from the time God made the world right up to the present. And there'll be nothing like it again.

because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world, until now--and never to be equaled again.

For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor ever shall be.

For those will be days of greater horror than at any time since God created the world. And it will never happen again.

If he let the days of trouble run their course, nobody would make it. But because of God's chosen people, those he personally chose, he has already intervened.

If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.

And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.

In fact, unless the Lord shortens that time of calamity, the entire human race will be destroyed. But for the sake of his chosen ones he has shortened those days.

"If anyone tries to flag you down, calling out, "Here's the Messiah!' or points, "There he is!' don't fall for it.

At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'Look, there he is!' do not believe it.

"Then if anyone says to you, "Look, here is the Christ!' or, "Look, He is there!' do not believe it.

"And then if anyone tells you, 'Look, here is the Messiah,' or, 'There he is,' don't pay any attention.

Fake Messiahs and lying preachers are going to pop up everywhere. Their impressive credentials and dazzling performances will pull the wool over the eyes of even those who ought to know better.

For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect--if that were possible.

So watch out. I've given you fair warning.

Stars fall out of the sky, cosmic powers tremble.

"And then they'll see the Son of Man enter in grand style, his Arrival filling the sky--no one will miss it!

He'll dispatch the angels; they will pull in the chosen from the four winds, from pole to pole.

"Take a lesson from the fig tree. From the moment you notice its buds form, the merest hint of green, you know summer's just around the corner.

"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.

"Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.

"Now, learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its buds become tender and its leaves begin to sprout, you know without being told that summer is near.

And so it is with you. When you see all these things, you know he is at the door.

So you also, when you see these things happening, know that it is near--at the doors!

Just so, when you see the events I've described beginning to happen, you can be sure that his return is very near, right at the door.

Don't take this lightly. I'm not just saying this for some future generation, but for this one, too--these things will happen.

I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
