On the road someone asked if he could go along. "I'll go with you, wherever," he said.

As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go."

Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, "Lord, I will follow You wherever You go."

As they were walking along someone said to Jesus, "I will follow you no matter where you go."

Jesus was curt: "Are you ready to rough it? We're not staying in the best inns, you know."

Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."

But Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but I, the Son of Man, have no home of my own, not even a place to lay my head."

Jesus said to another, "Follow me." He said, "Certainly, but first excuse me for a couple of days, please. I have to make arrangements for my father's funeral."

Jesus refused. "First things first. Your business is life, not death. And life is urgent: Announce God's kingdom!"

Jesus said, "No procrastination. No backward looks. You can't put God's kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day."

Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God."

But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

But Jesus told him, "Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God."

Later the Master selected seventy and sent them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he intended to go.

He gave them this charge: "What a huge harvest! And how few the harvest hands. So on your knees; ask the God of the Harvest to send harvest hands.

He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

Then He said to them, "The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

These were his instructions to them: "The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. Pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest, and ask him to send out more workers for his fields.

"On your way! But be careful--this is hazardous work. You're like lambs in a wolf pack.

Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.

Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.

Go now, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves.

"Travel light. Comb and toothbrush and no extra luggage. "Don't loiter and make small talk with everyone you meet along the way.

Don't take along any money, or a traveler's bag, or even an extra pair of sandals. And don't stop to greet anyone on the road.

"When you enter a home, greet the family, "Peace.'

"When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.'

But whatever house you enter, first say, "Peace to this house.'

"Whenever you enter a home, give it your blessing.

Luke.10.6

If your greeting is received, then it's a good place to stay. But if it's not received, take it back and get out. Don't impose yourself.

If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you.

Luke.10.6

And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you.

If those who live there are worthy, the blessing will stand; if they are not, the blessing will return to you.

"Stay at one home, taking your meals there, for a worker deserves three square meals. Don't move from house to house, looking for the best cook in town.

Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house.

When you enter a town, don't move around from home to home. Stay in one place, eating and drinking what they provide you. Don't hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve their pay.

"When you enter a town and are not received, go out in the street and say,

"The only thing we got from you is the dirt on our feet, and we're giving it back. Did you have any idea that God's kingdom was right on your doorstep?'

'Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.'

"The very dust of your city which clings to us we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.'

'We wipe the dust of your town from our feet as a public announcement of your doom. And don't forget the Kingdom of God is near!'

Sodom will have it better on Judgment Day than the town that rejects you.

I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.

But I say to you that it will be more tolerable in that Day for Sodom than for that city.

The truth is, even wicked Sodom will be better off than such a town on the judgment day.

"Doom, Chorazin! Doom, Bethsaida! If Tyre and Sidon had been given half the chances given you, they'd have been on their knees long ago, repenting and crying for mercy.

"Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

"What horrors await you, Korazin and Bethsaida! For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have sat in deep repentance long ago, clothed in sackcloth and throwing ashes on their heads to show their remorse.

Tyre and Sidon will have it easy on Judgment Day compared to you.

And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades.

"The one who listens to you, listens to me. The one who rejects you, rejects me. And rejecting me is the same as rejecting God, who sent me."

The seventy came back triumphant. "Master, even the demons danced to your tune!"

The seventy-two returned with joy and said, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name."

Jesus said, "I know. I saw Satan fall, a bolt of lightning out of the sky.

And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

"Yes," he told them, "I saw Satan falling from heaven as a flash of lightning!

See what I've given you? Safe passage as you walk on snakes and scorpions, and protection from every assault of the Enemy. No one can put a hand on you.

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

At that, Jesus rejoiced, exuberant in the Holy Spirit. "I thank you, Father, Master of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the know-it-alls and showed them to these innocent newcomers. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.

At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.

Then Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit and said, "O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding the truth from those who think themselves so wise and clever, and for revealing it to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.

"I've been given it all by my Father! Only the Father knows who the Son is and only the Son knows who the Father is. The Son can introduce the Father to anyone he wants to."
