Luke.5.33

They asked him, "John's disciples are well-known for keeping fasts and saying prayers. Also the Pharisees. But you seem to spend most of your time at parties. Why?"

They said to him, "John's disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking."

Then they said to Him, "Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and likewise those of the Pharisees, but Yours eat and drink?"

The religious leaders complained that Jesus' disciples were feasting instead of fasting. "John the Baptist's disciples always fast and pray," they declared, "and so do the disciples of the Pharisees. Why are yours always feasting?"

Jesus said, "When you're celebrating a wedding, you don't skimp on the cake and wine. You feast. Later you may need to pull in your belt, but this isn't the time. As long as the bride and groom are with you, you have a good time.

Jesus answered, "Can you make the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them?

And He said to them, "Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?

When the groom is gone, the fasting can begin. No one throws cold water on a friendly bonfire. This is Kingdom Come!

On a certain Sabbath Jesus was walking through a field of ripe grain. His disciples were pulling off heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands to get rid of the chaff, and eating them.

One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels.

Some Pharisees said, "Why are you doing that, breaking a Sabbath rule?"

But some Pharisees said, "You shouldn't be doing that! It's against the law to work by harvesting grain on the Sabbath."

But Jesus stood up for them. "Have you never read what David and those with him did when they were hungry?
