The Feast of Unleavened Bread, also called Passover, drew near.

The Festival of Unleavened Bread, which begins with the Passover celebration, was drawing near.

The high priests and religion scholars were looking for a way to do away with Jesus but, fearful of the people, they were also looking for a way to cover their tracks.

and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people.

And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.

The leading priests and teachers of religious law were actively plotting Jesus' murder. But they wanted to kill him without starting a riot, a possibility they greatly feared.

That's when Satan entered Judas, the one called Iscariot. He was one of the Twelve.

Leaving the others, he conferred with the high priests and the Temple guards about how he might betray Jesus to them.

And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus.

So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them.

and he went over to the leading priests and captains of the Temple guard to discuss the best way to betray Jesus to them.

They couldn't believe their good luck and agreed to pay him well.

They were delighted and agreed to give him money.

Luke.22.5

And they were glad, and agreed to give him money.

Luke.22.5

They were delighted that he was ready to help them, and they promised him a reward.

Luke.22.6

He gave them his word and started looking for a way to betray Jesus, but out of sight of the crowd.

He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.

So he promised and sought opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude.

So he began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus so they could arrest him quietly when the crowds weren't around.

The Day of Unleavened Bread came, the day the Passover lamb was butchered.

Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.

Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed.

Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread arrived, when the Passover lambs were sacrificed.

Jesus sent Peter and John off, saying, "Go prepare the Passover for us so we can eat it together."

They said, "Where do you want us to do this?"

"Where do you want us to prepare for it?" they asked.

So they said to Him, "Where do You want us to prepare?"

"Where do you want us to go?" they asked him.

Luke.22.10

He said, "Keep your eyes open as you enter the city. A man carrying a water jug will meet you. Follow him home.

He replied, "As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters,

And He said to them, "Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters.

He replied, "As soon as you enter Jerusalem, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him. At the house he enters,

Then speak with the owner of the house: The Teacher wants to know, "Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?'

and say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?'

Then you shall say to the master of the house, "The Teacher says to you, "Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?"'

He will show you a spacious second-story room, swept and ready. Prepare the meal there."

He will take you upstairs to a large room that is already set up. That is the place. Go ahead and prepare our supper there."

They left, found everything just as he told them, and prepared the Passover meal.

and said, "You've no idea how much I have looked forward to eating this Passover meal with you before I enter my time of suffering.

And he said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

Then He said to them, "With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;

Jesus said, "I have looked forward to this hour with deep longing, anxious to eat this Passover meal with you before my suffering begins.

Luke.22.16

It's the last one I'll eat until we all eat it together in the kingdom of God."

For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God."

After supper he took another cup of wine and said, "This wine is the token of God's new covenant to save you--an agreement sealed with the blood I will pour out for you.

"Do you realize that the hand of the one who is betraying me is at this moment on this table?

But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.

But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table.

"But here at this table, sitting among us as a friend, is the man who will betray me.

Luke.22.22

It's true that the Son of Man is going down a path already marked out--no surprises there. But for the one who turns him in, turns traitor to the Son of Man, this is doomsday."

The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed, but woe to that man who betrays him."

And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!"

For I, the Son of Man, must die since it is part of God's plan. But how terrible it will be for my betrayer!"

They immediately became suspicious of each other and began quizzing one another, wondering who might be about to do this.

They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.

Then the disciples began to ask each other which of them would ever do such a thing.

Within minutes they were bickering over who of them would end up the greatest.

Also a dispute arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.

Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest.

And they began to argue among themselves as to who would be the greatest in the coming Kingdom.

But Jesus intervened: "Kings like to throw their weight around and people in authority like to give themselves fancy titles.

Jesus said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors.

Luke.22.25

And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called "benefactors.'

Jesus told them, "In this world the kings and great men order their people around, and yet they are called 'friends of the people.'

Luke.22.26

It's not going to be that way with you. Let the senior among you become like the junior; let the leader act the part of the servant.

But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.

But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves.

But among you, those who are the greatest should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant.

"Who would you rather be: the one who eats the dinner or the one who serves the dinner? You'd rather eat and be served, right? But I've taken my place among you as the one who serves.

For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

Luke.22.27

For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.

Luke.22.27

Normally the master sits at the table and is served by his servants. But not here! For I am your servant.

Luke.22.28

And you've stuck with me through thick and thin.

Luke.22.28

You are those who have stood by me in my trials.

Luke.22.28

"But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials.

Luke.22.28

You have remained true to me in my time of trial.

Luke.22.29

Now I confer on you the royal authority my Father conferred on me

Luke.22.29

And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me,

Luke.22.29

And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me,

Luke.22.29

And just as my Father has granted me a Kingdom, I now grant you the right

so you can eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and be strengthened as you take up responsibilities among the congregations of God's people.

so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

"Simon, stay on your toes. Satan has tried his best to separate all of you from me, like chaff from wheat.

"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat.

And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.

"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to have all of you, to sift you like wheat.

Luke.22.32

Simon, I've prayed for you in particular that you not give in or give out. When you have come through the time of testing, turn to your companions and give them a fresh start."

But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."

Peter said, "Master, I'm ready for anything with you. I'd go to jail for you. I'd die for you!"

But he replied, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death."

Peter said, "Lord, I am ready to go to prison with you, and even to die with you."

Jesus said, "I'm sorry to have to tell you this, Peter, but before the rooster crows you will have three times denied that you know me."

Jesus answered, "I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me."

Then He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me."

But Jesus said, "Peter, let me tell you something. The rooster will not crow tomorrow morning until you have denied three times that you even know me."

Luke.22.35

Then Jesus said, "When I sent you out and told you to travel light, to take only the bare necessities, did you get along all right?Certainly," they said, "we got along just fine."

Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?Nothing," they answered.

And He said to them, "When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?" So they said, "Nothing."

Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you out to preach the Good News and you did not have money, a traveler's bag, or extra clothing, did you lack anything?No," they replied.

Luke.22.36

He said, "This is different. Get ready for trouble. Look to what you'll need; there are difficult times ahead. Pawn your coat and get a sword.

He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

Luke.22.36

Then He said to them, "But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.

Luke.22.36

"But now," he said, "take your money and a traveler's bag. And if you don't have a sword, sell your clothes and buy one!

Luke.22.37

What was written in Scripture, "He was lumped in with the criminals,' gets its final meaning in me. Everything written about me is now coming to a conclusion."

Luke.22.37

It is written: 'And he was numbered with the transgressors'; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment."

For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: "And He was numbered with the transgressors.' For the things concerning Me have an end."

Luke.22.37

For the time has come for this prophecy about me to be fulfilled: 'He was counted among those who were rebels.' Yes, everything written about me by the prophets will come true."

They said, "Look, Master, two swords!" But he said, "Enough of that; no more sword talk!"

The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords.That is enough," he replied.

So they said, "Lord, look, here are two swords." And He said to them, "It is enough."

"Lord," they replied, "we have two swords among us.That's enough," he said.
