Luke.21.5

And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,

One day people were standing around talking about the Temple, remarking how beautiful it was, the splendor of its stonework and memorial gifts. Jesus said,

Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said,

Luke.21.5

Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said,

Luke.21.5

Some of his disciples began talking about the beautiful stonework of the Temple and the memorial decorations on the walls. But Jesus said,

Luke.21.6

As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

"All this you're admiring so much--the time is coming when every stone in that building will end up in a heap of rubble."

"As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down."

"These things which you see--the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down."

"The time is coming when all these things will be so completely demolished that not one stone will be left on top of another."

And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

They asked him, "Teacher, when is this going to happen? What clue will we get that it's about to take place?"

Luke.21.7

"Teacher," they asked, "when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?"

Luke.21.7

So they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?"

Luke.21.7

"Teacher," they asked, "when will all this take place? And will there be any sign ahead of time?"

Luke.21.8

And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

Luke.21.8

He said, "Watch out for the doomsday deceivers. Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities claiming, "I'm the One,' or, "The end is near.' Don't fall for any of that.

He replied: "Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and, 'The time is near.' Do not follow them.

And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, "I am He,' and, "The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them.

He replied, "Don't let anyone mislead you. For many will come in my name, claiming to be the Messiah and saying, 'The time has come!' But don't believe them.

Luke.21.9

But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

Luke.21.9

When you hear of wars and uprisings, keep your head and don't panic. This is routine history and no sign of the end."

But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately."

And when you hear of wars and insurrections, don't panic. Yes, these things must come, but the end won't follow immediately."

Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

He went on, "Nation will fight nation and ruler fight ruler, over and over.

Then he said to them: "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

Luke.21.10

Then he added, "Nations and kingdoms will proclaim war against each other.

Luke.21.11

And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Luke.21.11

Huge earthquakes will occur in various places. There will be famines. You'll think at times that the very sky is falling.

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

"But before any of this happens, they'll arrest you, hunt you down, and drag you to court and jail. It will go from bad to worse, dog-eat-dog, everyone at your throat because you carry my name.

"But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name.

"But before all this occurs, there will be a time of great persecution. You will be dragged into synagogues and prisons, and you will be accused before kings and governors of being my followers.

And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

You'll end up on the witness stand, called to testify.

This will result in your being witnesses to them.

But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.

This will be your opportunity to tell them about me.

Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

I'll give you the words and wisdom that will reduce all your accusers to stammers and stutters.

For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.

for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.

And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

If you're living in Judea at the time, run for the hills. If you're in the city, get out quickly. If you're out in the fields, don't go home to get your coat.

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

People dropping like flies; people dragged off to prisons; Jerusalem under the boot of barbarians until the nations finish what was given them to do.

They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

They will be brutally killed by the sword or sent away as captives to all the nations of the world. And Jerusalem will be conquered and trampled down by the Gentiles until the age of the Gentiles comes to an end.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

"It will seem like all hell has broken loose--sun, moon, stars, earth, sea,

Luke.21.25

"There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;

"And there will be strange events in the skies--signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides.

Luke.21.26

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

in an uproar and everyone all over the world in a panic, the wind knocked out of them by the threat of doom, the powers-that-be quaking.

Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.

men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up.

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

"And then--then!-they'll see the Son of Man welcomed in grand style--a glorious welcome!

At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory.

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

When all this starts to happen, up on your feet. Stand tall with your heads high. Help is on the way!"

And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;

Then he gave them this illustration: "Notice the fig tree, or any other tree.

When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

When the leaves begin to show, one look tells you that summer is right around the corner.

When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near.

When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.

When the leaves come out, you know without being told that summer is near.

So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

The same here--when you see these things happen, you know God's kingdom is about here.

Just so, when you see the events I've described taking place, you can be sure that the Kingdom of God is near.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

Don't brush this off: I'm not just saying this for some future generation, but for this one, too--these things will happen.

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

So, whatever you do, don't go to sleep at the switch. Pray constantly that you will have the strength and wits to make it through everything that's coming and end up on your feet before the Son of Man."

Every day Jesus went to the Temple to teach, and each evening he returned to spend the night on the Mount of Olives.

And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

All the people were up at the crack of dawn to come to the Temple and listen to him.

and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.

Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.

The crowds gathered early each morning to hear him.
