The LORD said to Moses, "Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them: 'A priest must not make himself ceremonially unclean for any of his people who die,

And the LORD said to Moses, "Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them: "None shall defile himself for the dead among his people,

The LORD said to Moses, "Tell the priests to avoid making themselves ceremonially unclean by touching a dead relative

except for close relatives: mother, father, son, daughter, brother,

except for a close relative, such as his mother or father, his son or daughter, his brother,

except for his relatives who are nearest to him: his mother, his father, his son, his daughter, and his brother;

or an unmarried sister who is dependent on him since she has no husband; for these he may make himself ritually unclean,

"The high priest, the one among his brothers who has received the anointing oil poured on his head and been ordained to wear the priestly vestments, must not let his hair go wild and tangled nor wear ragged and torn clothes.

He must not enter a room where there is a dead body. He must not ritually contaminate himself, even for his father or mother;

and he must neither abandon nor desecrate the Sanctuary of his God because of the dedication of the anointing oil which is upon him. I am GOD.

nor shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.

He must not desecrate the sanctuary of his God by leaving it to attend his parents' funeral, because he has been made holy by the anointing oil of his God. I am the LORD.

"He is to marry a young virgin,

"'The woman he marries must be a virgin.

And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

"The high priest must marry a virgin.

not a widow, not a divorcee, not a cult prostitute--he is only to marry a virgin from his own people.

He must not marry a widow, a divorced woman, or a woman defiled by prostitution, but only a virgin from his own people,

A widow or a divorced woman or a defiled woman or a harlot--these he shall not marry; but he shall take a virgin of his own people as wife.

GOD spoke to Moses:

"Tell Aaron, None of your descendants, in any generation to come, who has a defect of any kind may present as an offering the food of his God.

"Say to Aaron: 'For the generations to come none of your descendants who has a defect may come near to offer the food of his God.

Lev.21.17

"Speak to Aaron, saying: "No man of your descendants in succeeding generations, who has any defect, may approach to offer the bread of his God.

"Tell Aaron that in all future generations, his descendants who have physical defects will not qualify to offer food to their God.

Lev.21.18

That means anyone who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed,

No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed;

For any man who has a defect shall not approach: a man blind or lame, who has a marred face or any limb too long,

No one who has a defect may come near to me, whether he is blind or lame, stunted or deformed,

crippled in foot or hand,

a man who has a broken foot or broken hand,

hunchbacked or dwarfed, who has anything wrong with his eyes, who has running sores or damaged testicles.

or who is hunchbacked or dwarfed, or who has any eye defect, or who has festering or running sores or damaged testicles.

or is a hunchback or a dwarf, or a man who has a defect in his eye, or eczema or scab, or is a eunuch.

or has a humped back or is a dwarf, or has a defective eye, or has oozing sores or scabs on his skin, or has damaged testicles.

No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to offer gifts to GOD; he has a defect and so must not offer the food of his God.

No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to come near to present the offerings made to the LORD by fire. He has a defect; he must not come near to offer the food of his God.

No man of the descendants of Aaron the priest, who has a defect, shall come near to offer the offerings made by fire to the LORD. He has a defect; he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God.

Even though he is a descendant of Aaron, his physical defects disqualify him from presenting offerings to the LORD by fire. Since he has a blemish, he may not offer food to his God.

He may eat the food of his God, both the most holy and the holy,

He may eat the most holy food of his God, as well as the holy food;

He may eat the bread of his God, both the most holy and the holy;

However, he may eat from the food offered to God, including the holy offerings and the most holy offerings.

but because of his defect he must not go near the curtain or approach the Altar. It would desecrate my Sanctuary. I am GOD who makes them holy."

"Tell Aaron and his sons to treat the holy offerings that the Israelites consecrate to me with reverence so they won't desecrate my holy name. I am GOD.

"Tell Aaron and his sons to treat with respect the sacred offerings the Israelites consecrate to me, so they will not profane my holy name. I am the LORD.

Lev.22.2

"Speak to Aaron and his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they do not profane My holy name by what they dedicate to Me: I am the LORD.

Lev.22.2

"Tell Aaron and his sons to treat the sacred gifts that the Israelites set apart for me with great care, so they do not profane my holy name. I am the LORD.

Lev.22.3

"Tell them, From now on, if any of your descendants approaches in a state of ritual uncleanness the holy offerings that the Israelites consecrate to GOD, he will be cut off from my presence. I am GOD.

Lev.22.3

"Say to them: 'For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the LORD.

Lev.22.3

Say to them: "Whoever of all your descendants throughout your generations, who goes near the holy things which the children of Israel dedicate to the LORD, while he has uncleanness upon him, that person shall be cut off from My presence: I am the LORD.

Lev.22.3

Remind them that if any of their descendants are ceremonially unclean when they approach the sacred food presented by the Israelites, they must be cut off from my presence. I am the LORD!

Lev.22.4

"Each and every one of Aaron's descendants who has an infectious skin disease or a discharge may not eat any of the holy offerings until he is clean. Also, if he touches anything defiled by a corpse, or has an emission of semen,

"'If a descendant of Aaron has an infectious skin disease or a bodily discharge, he may not eat the sacred offerings until he is cleansed. He will also be unclean if he touches something defiled by a corpse or by anyone who has an emission of semen,

"Whatever man of the descendants of Aaron, who is a leper or has a discharge, shall not eat the holy offerings until he is clean. And whoever touches anything made unclean by a corpse, or a man who has had an emission of semen,

"If any of the priests have a contagious skin disease or any kind of discharge that makes them ceremonially unclean, they may not eat the sacred offerings until they have been pronounced clean. If any of the priests become unclean by touching a corpse, or are defiled by an emission of semen,

or is contaminated by touching a crawling creature, or touches a person who is contaminated for whatever reason

Lev.22.5

or if he touches any crawling thing that makes him unclean, or any person who makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be.

or whoever touches any creeping thing by which he would be made unclean, or any person by whom he would become unclean, whatever his uncleanness may be--

Lev.22.5

or by touching a creeping creature that is unclean, or by touching someone who is ceremonially unclean for any reason,

Lev.22.6

-a person who touches any such thing will be ritually unclean until evening and may not eat any of the holy offerings unless he has washed well with water.

The one who touches any such thing will be unclean till evening. He must not eat any of the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water.

the person who has touched any such thing shall be unclean until evening, and shall not eat the holy offerings unless he washes his body with water.

But he must not contaminate himself by eating anything found dead or torn by wild animals. I am GOD.

"They shall therefore keep My ordinance, lest they bear sin for it and die thereby, if they profane it: I the LORD sanctify them.

Warn all the priests to follow these instructions carefully; otherwise they will be subject to punishment and die for violating them. I am the LORD who makes them holy.

"No layperson may eat anything set apart as holy. Nor may a priest's guest or his hired hand eat anything holy.

"'No one outside a priest's family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired worker eat it.

"No outsider shall eat the holy offering; one who dwells with the priest, or a hired servant, shall not eat the holy thing.

"No one outside a priest's family may ever eat the sacred offerings, even if the person lives in a priest's home or is one of his hired servants.

But if a priest buys a slave, the slave may eat of it; also the slaves born in his house may eat his food.

But if a priest buys a slave with money, or if a slave is born in his household, that slave may eat his food.

Lev.22.11

But if the priest buys a person with his money, he may eat it; and one who is born in his house may eat his food.

However, if the priest buys slaves with his own money, they may eat of his food. And if his slaves have children, they also may share his food.

If a priest's daughter marries a layperson, she may no longer eat from the holy contributions.

If a priest's daughter marries anyone other than a priest, she may not eat any of the sacred contributions.

If the priest's daughter is married to an outsider, she may not eat of the holy offerings.

If a priest's daughter marries someone outside the priestly family, she may no longer eat the sacred offerings.

But if the priest's daughter is widowed or divorced and without children and returns to her father's household as before, she may eat of her father's food. But no layperson may eat of it.

But if a priest's daughter becomes a widow or is divorced, yet has no children, and she returns to live in her father's house as in her youth, she may eat of her father's food. No unauthorized person, however, may eat any of it.

"If anyone eats from a holy offering accidentally, he must give back the holy offering to the priest and add twenty percent to it.

"Anyone who eats the sacred offerings without realizing it must pay the priest for the amount eaten, plus an added penalty of 20 percent.

"The priests must not treat with irreverence the holy offerings of the Israelites that they contribute to GOD

The priests must not desecrate the sacred offerings the Israelites present to the LORD

They shall not profane the holy offerings of the children of Israel, which they offer to the LORD,

No one may defile the sacred offerings brought to the LORD by the Israelites

lest they desecrate themselves and make themselves guilty when they eat the holy offerings. I am GOD who makes them holy." [JC]

by allowing them to eat the sacred offerings and so bring upon them guilt requiring payment. I am the LORD, who makes them holy.'"

or allow them to bear the guilt of trespass when they eat their holy offerings; for I the LORD sanctify them."'

"Tell Aaron and his sons and all the People of Israel, Each and every one of you, whether native born or foreigner, who presents a Whole-Burnt-Offering to GOD to fulfill a vow or as a Freewill-Offering,

"Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: 'If any of you-either an Israelite or an alien living in Israel-presents a gift for a burnt offering to the LORD, either to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering,

"Speak to Aaron and his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them: "Whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, who offers his sacrifice for any of his vows or for any of his freewill offerings, which they offer to the LORD as a burnt offering--

"Give Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites these instructions, which apply to those who are Israelites by birth as well as to the foreigners living among you. If you offer a whole burnt offering to the LORD, whether to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering,

must make sure that it is a male without defect from cattle, sheep, or goats for it to be acceptable.

you must present a male without defect from the cattle, sheep or goats in order that it may be accepted on your behalf.

you shall offer of your own free will a male without blemish from the cattle, from the sheep, or from the goats.

Whenever anyone brings an offering from cattle or sheep as a Peace-Offering to GOD to fulfill a vow or as a Freewill-Offering, it has to be perfect, without defect, to be acceptable.

When anyone brings from the herd or flock a fellowship offering to the LORD to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, it must be without defect or blemish to be acceptable.

And whoever offers a sacrifice of a peace offering to the LORD, to fulfill his vow, or a freewill offering from the cattle or the sheep, it must be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no defect in it.

"If you bring a peace offering to the LORD from the herd or flock, whether to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering, you must offer an animal that has no physical defects of any kind.

Lev.22.22

Don't try giving GOD an animal that is blind, crippled, mutilated, an animal with running sores, a rash, or mange. Don't place any of these on the Altar as a gift to GOD.

Do not offer to the LORD the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as an offering made to the LORD by fire.

Those that are blind or broken or maimed, or have an ulcer or eczema or scabs, you shall not offer to the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them on the altar to the LORD.

An animal that is blind, injured, mutilated, or that has a growth, an open sore, or a scab must never be offered to the LORD by fire on the altar.

You may, though, offer an ox or sheep that is deformed or stunted as a Freewill-Offering, but it is not acceptable in fulfilling a vow

You may, however, present as a freewill offering an ox or a sheep that is deformed or stunted, but it will not be accepted in fulfillment of a vow.

Either a bull or a lamb that has any limb too long or too short you may offer as a freewill offering, but for a vow it shall not be accepted.

If the bull or lamb is deformed or stunted, it may still be offered as a freewill offering, but it may not be offered to fulfill a vow.

. Don't offer to GOD an animal with bruised, crushed, torn, or cut-off testicles. Don't do this in your own land

"You shall not offer to the LORD what is bruised or crushed, or torn or cut; nor shall you make any offering of them in your land.

If an animal has damaged testicles or is castrated, it may never be offered to the LORD.

but don't accept them from foreigners and present them as food for your GOD either. Because of deformities and defects they will not be acceptable."

and you must not accept such animals from the hand of a foreigner and offer them as the food of your God. They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are deformed and have defects.'"

Nor from a foreigner's hand shall you offer any of these as the bread of your God, because their corruption is in them, and defects are in them. They shall not be accepted on your behalf."'

You must never accept mutilated or defective animals from foreigners to be offered as a sacrifice to your God. Such animals will not be accepted on your behalf because they are defective."

"When a calf or lamb or goat is born, it is to stay with its mother for seven days. After the eighth day, it is acceptable as an offering, a gift to GOD.

"When a calf, a lamb or a goat is born, it is to remain with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as an offering made to the LORD by fire.

"When a bull or a sheep or a goat is born, it shall be seven days with its mother; and from the eighth day and thereafter it shall be accepted as an offering made by fire to the LORD.

"When a bull or a ram or a male goat is born, it must be left with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as an offering given to the LORD by fire.

Don't slaughter both a cow or ewe and its young on the same day.
