Josh.9.16-Josh.10.43

Josh.9.16-Josh.10.43

Josh.9.16

And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them.

Josh.9.16

And then, three days after making this covenant, they learned that they were next-door neighbors who had been living there all along!

Josh.9.16

Three days after they made the treaty with the Gibeonites, the Israelites heard that they were neighbors, living near them.

Josh.9.16

And it happened at the end of three days, after they had made a covenant with them, that they heard that they were their neighbors who dwelt near them.

Josh.9.16

Three days later, the facts came out--these people of Gibeon lived nearby!

Josh.9.17

And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjathjearim.

Josh.9.17

The People of Israel broke camp and set out; three days later they reached their towns--Gibeon, Kephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath Jearim.

Josh.9.17

So the Israelites set out and on the third day came to their cities: Gibeon, Kephirah, Beeroth and Kiriath Jearim.

Josh.9.17

Then the children of Israel journeyed and came to their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth, and Kirjath Jearim.

Josh.9.17

The Israelites set out at once to investigate and reached their towns in three days. The names of these towns were Gibeon, Kephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath-jearim.

Josh.9.18

And the children of Israel smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes.

Josh.9.18

But the People of Israel didn't attack them; the leaders of the congregation had given their word before the GOD of Israel. But the congregation was up in arms over their leaders.

Josh.9.18

But the Israelites did not attack them, because the leaders of the assembly had sworn an oath to them by the LORD, the God of Israel. The whole assembly grumbled against the leaders,

Josh.9.18

But the children of Israel did not attack them, because the rulers of the congregation had sworn to them by the LORD God of Israel. And all the congregation complained against the rulers.

Josh.9.18

But the Israelites did not attack the towns, for their leaders had made a vow to the LORD, the God of Israel. The people of Israel grumbled against their leaders because of the treaty.

Josh.9.19

But all the princes said unto all the congregation, We have sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel: now therefore we may not touch them.

Josh.9.19

The leaders were united in their response to the congregation: "We promised them in the presence of the GOD of Israel. We can't lay a hand on them now.

Josh.9.19

but all the leaders answered, "We have given them our oath by the LORD, the God of Israel, and we cannot touch them now.

Josh.9.19

Then all the rulers said to all the congregation, "We have sworn to them by the LORD God of Israel; now therefore, we may not touch them.

Josh.9.19

But the leaders replied, "We have sworn an oath in the presence of the LORD, the God of Israel. We cannot touch them.

Josh.9.20

This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we sware unto them.

Josh.9.20

But we can do this: We will let them live so we don't get blamed for breaking our promise."

Josh.9.20

This is what we will do to them: We will let them live, so that wrath will not fall on us for breaking the oath we swore to them."

Josh.9.20

This we will do to them: We will let them live, lest wrath be upon us because of the oath which we swore to them."

Josh.9.20

We must let them live, for God would be angry with us if we broke our oath.

Josh.9.21

And the princes said unto them, Let them live; but let them be hewers of wood and drawers of water unto all the congregation; as the princes had promised them.

Josh.9.21

Then the leaders continued, "We'll let them live, but they will be woodcutters and water carriers for the entire congregation." And that's what happened; the leaders' promise was kept.

Josh.9.21

They continued, "Let them live, but let them be woodcutters and water carriers for the entire community." So the leaders' promise to them was kept.

Josh.9.21

And the rulers said to them, "Let them live, but let them be woodcutters and water carriers for all the congregation, as the rulers had promised them."

Josh.9.21

Let them live. But we will make them chop the wood and carry the water for the entire community." So the Israelites kept their promise to the Gibeonites.

Josh.9.22

And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us?

Josh.9.22

But Joshua called the Gibeonites together and said, "Why did you lie to us, telling us, "We live far, far away from you,' when you're our next-door neighbors?

Josh.9.22

Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said, "Why did you deceive us by saying, 'We live a long way from you,' while actually you live near us?

Josh.9.22

Then Joshua called for them, and he spoke to them, saying, "Why have you deceived us, saying, "We are very far from you,' when you dwell near us?

Josh.9.22

But Joshua called together the Gibeonite leaders and said, "Why did you lie to us? Why did you say that you live in a distant land when you live right here among us?

Josh.9.23

Now therefore ye are cursed, and there shall none of you be freed from being bondmen, and hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God.

Josh.9.23

For that you are cursed. From now on it's menial labor for you--woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God."

Josh.9.23

You are now under a curse: You will never cease to serve as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God."

Josh.9.23

Now therefore, you are cursed, and none of you shall be freed from being slaves--woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God."

Josh.9.23

May you be cursed! From now on you will chop wood and carry water for the house of my God."

Josh.9.24

And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

Josh.9.24

They answered Joshua, "We got the message loud and clear that GOD, your God, commanded through his servant Moses: to give you the whole country and destroy everyone living in it. We were terrified because of you; that's why we did this.

Josh.9.24

They answered Joshua, "Your servants were clearly told how the LORD your God had commanded his servant Moses to give you the whole land and to wipe out all its inhabitants from before you. So we feared for our lives because of you, and that is why we did this.

Josh.9.24

So they answered Joshua and said, "Because your servants were clearly told that the LORD your God commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you; therefore we were very much afraid for our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

Josh.9.24

They replied, "We did it because we were told that the LORD your God instructed his servant Moses to conquer this entire land and destroy all the people living in it. So we feared for our lives because of you. That is why we have done it.

Josh.9.25

And now, behold, we are in thine hand: as it seemeth good and right unto thee to do unto us, do.

Josh.9.25

That's it. We're at your mercy. Whatever you decide is right for us, do it."

Josh.9.25

We are now in your hands. Do to us whatever seems good and right to you."

Josh.9.25

And now, here we are, in your hands; do with us as it seems good and right to do to us."

Josh.9.25

Now we are at your mercy--do whatever you think is right."

Josh.9.26

And so did he unto them, and delivered them out of the hand of the children of Israel, that they slew them not.

Josh.9.26

And that's what they did. Joshua delivered them from the power of the People of Israel so they didn't kill them.

Josh.9.26

So Joshua saved them from the Israelites, and they did not kill them.

Josh.9.26

So he did to them, and delivered them out of the hand of the children of Israel, so that they did not kill them.

Josh.9.26

Joshua did not allow the people of Israel to kill them.

Josh.9.27

And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of the LORD, even unto this day, in the place which he should choose.

Josh.9.27

But he made them woodcutters and water carriers for the congregation and for the Altar of GOD at the place GOD chooses. They still are.

Josh.9.27

That day he made the Gibeonites woodcutters and water carriers for the community and for the altar of the LORD at the place the LORD would choose. And that is what they are to this day.

Josh.9.27

And that day Joshua made them woodcutters and water carriers for the congregation and for the altar of the LORD, in the place which He would choose, even to this day.

Josh.9.27

But that day he made the Gibeonites the woodchoppers and water carriers for the people of Israel and for the altar of the LORD--wherever the LORD would choose to build it. That arrangement continues to this day.

Josh.10.1

Now it came to pass, when Adonizedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;

Josh.10.1

It wasn't long before My-Master-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Ai and destroyed it and its king under a holy curse, just as he had done to Jericho and its king. He also learned that the people of Gibeon had come to terms with Israel and were living as neighbors.

Josh.10.1

Now Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Ai and totally destroyed it, doing to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king, and that the people of Gibeon had made a treaty of peace with Israel and were living near them.

Josh.10.1

Now it came to pass when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai and had utterly destroyed it--as he had done to Jericho and its king, so he had done to Ai and its king--and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were among them,

Josh.10.1

Now Adoni-zedek, king of Jerusalem, heard that Joshua had captured and completely destroyed Ai and killed its king, just as he had destroyed the city of Jericho and killed its king. He also learned that the Gibeonites had made peace with Israel and were now their allies.

Josh.10.2

That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.

Josh.10.2

He and his people were alarmed: Gibeon was a big city--as big as any with a king and bigger than Ai--and all its men were seasoned fighters.

Josh.10.2

He and his people were very much alarmed at this, because Gibeon was an important city, like one of the royal cities; it was larger than Ai, and all its men were good fighters.

Josh.10.2

that they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.

Josh.10.2

He and his people became very afraid when they heard all this because Gibeon was a large city--as large as the royal cities and larger than Ai. And the Gibeonite men were mighty warriors.

Josh.10.3

Wherefore Adonizedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

Josh.10.3

Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent word to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon:

Josh.10.3

So Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem appealed to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish and Debir king of Eglon.

Josh.10.3

Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon, saying,

Josh.10.3

So King Adoni-zedek of Jerusalem sent messengers to several other kings: Hoham of Hebron, Piram of Jarmuth, Japhia of Lachish, and Debir of Eglon.

Josh.10.4

Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

Josh.10.4

"Come and help me. Let's attack Gibeon; they've joined up with Joshua and the People of Israel."

Josh.10.4

"Come up and help me attack Gibeon," he said, "because it has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites."

Josh.10.4

"Come up to me and help me, that we may attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel."

Josh.10.4

"Come and help me destroy Gibeon," he urged them, "for they have made peace with Joshua and the people of Israel."

Josh.10.5

Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.

Josh.10.5

So the five Amorite (Western) kings--the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon--combined their armies and set out to attack Gibeon.

Josh.10.5

Then the five kings of the Amorites-the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon-joined forces. They moved up with all their troops and took up positions against Gibeon and attacked it.

Josh.10.5

Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon, gathered together and went up, they and all their armies, and camped before Gibeon and made war against it.

Josh.10.5

So these five Amorite kings combined their armies for a united attack. They moved all their troops into place and attacked Gibeon.

Josh.10.6

And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

Josh.10.6

The men of Gibeon sent word to Joshua camped at Gilgal, "Don't let us down now! Come up here quickly! Save us! Help us! All the Amorite kings who live up in the hills have ganged up on us."

Josh.10.6

The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: "Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all the Amorite kings from the hill country have joined forces against us."

Josh.10.6

And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying, "Do not forsake your servants; come up to us quickly, save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains have gathered together against us."

Josh.10.6

The men of Gibeon quickly sent messengers to Joshua at Gilgal, "Don't abandon your servants now!" they pleaded. "Come quickly and save us! For all the Amorite kings who live in the hill country have come out against us with their armies."

Josh.10.7

So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.

Josh.10.7

So Joshua set out from Gilgal, his whole army with him--all those tough soldiers!

Josh.10.7

So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army, including all the best fighting men.

Josh.10.7

So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.

Josh.10.7

So Joshua and the entire Israelite army left Gilgal and set out to rescue Gibeon.

Josh.10.8

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

Josh.10.8

GOD told him, "Don't give them a second thought. I've put them under your thumb--not one of them will stand up to you."

Josh.10.8

The LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you."

Josh.10.8

And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you."

Josh.10.8

"Do not be afraid of them," the LORD said to Joshua, "for I will give you victory over them. Not a single one of them will be able to stand up to you."

Josh.10.9

Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.

Josh.10.9

Joshua marched all night from Gilgal and took them by total surprise.

Josh.10.9

After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise.

Josh.10.9

Joshua therefore came upon them suddenly, having marched all night from Gilgal.

Josh.10.9

Joshua traveled all night from Gilgal and took the Amorite armies by surprise.

Josh.10.10

And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

Josh.10.10

GOD threw them into total confusion before Israel, a major victory at Gibeon. Israel chased them along the ridge to Beth Horon and fought them all the way down to Azekah and Makkedah.

Josh.10.10

The LORD threw them into confusion before Israel, who defeated them in a great victory at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah.

Josh.10.10

So the LORD routed them before Israel, killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, chased them along the road that goes to Beth Horon, and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah.

Josh.10.10

The LORD threw them into a panic, and the Israelites slaughtered them in great numbers at Gibeon. Then the Israelites chased the enemy along the road to Beth-horon and attacked them at Azekah and Makkedah, killing them along the way.

Josh.10.11

And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

Josh.10.11

As they ran from the People of Israel, down from the Beth Horon ridge and all the way to Azekah, GOD pitched huge stones on them out of the sky and many died. More died from the hailstones than the People of Israel killed with the sword.

Josh.10.11

As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the LORD hurled large hailstones down on them from the sky, and more of them died from the hailstones than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.

Josh.10.11

And it happened, as they fled before Israel and were on the descent of Beth Horon, that the LORD cast down large hailstones from heaven on them as far as Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than the children of Israel killed with the sword.

Josh.10.11

As the Amorites retreated down the road from Beth-horon, the LORD destroyed them with a terrible hailstorm that continued until they reached Azekah. The hail killed more of the enemy than the Israelites killed with the sword.

Josh.10.12

Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

Josh.10.12

The day GOD gave the Amorites up to Israel, Joshua spoke to GOD, with all Israel listening: "Stop, Sun, over Gibeon; Halt, Moon, over Aijalon Valley."

Josh.10.12

On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: "O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon."

Josh.10.12

Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: "Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon."

Josh.10.12

On the day the LORD gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the LORD in front of all the people of Israel. He said, "Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon."

Josh.10.13

And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

Josh.10.13

And Sun stopped, Moon stood stock still Until he defeated his enemies. (You can find this written in the Book of Jashar.) The sun stopped in its tracks in mid sky; just sat there all day.

Josh.10.13

So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.

Josh.10.13

So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.

Josh.10.13

So the sun and moon stood still until the Israelites had defeated their enemies. Is this event not recorded in The Book of Jashar? The sun stopped in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day.

Josh.10.14

And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

Josh.10.14

There's never been a day like that before or since--GOD took orders from a human voice! Truly, GOD fought for Israel.

Josh.10.14

There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a man. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!

Josh.10.14

And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the LORD heeded the voice of a man; for the LORD fought for Israel.

Josh.10.14

The LORD fought for Israel that day. Never before or since has there been a day like that one, when the LORD answered such a request from a human being.

Josh.10.15

And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

Josh.10.15

Then Joshua returned, all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.

Josh.10.15

Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.

Josh.10.15

Then Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.

Josh.10.15

Then Joshua and the Israelite army returned to their camp at Gilgal.

Josh.10.16

But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.

Josh.10.16

Meanwhile the five kings had hidden in the cave at Makkedah.

Josh.10.16

Now the five kings had fled and hidden in the cave at Makkedah.

Josh.10.16

But these five kings had fled and hidden themselves in a cave at Makkedah.

Josh.10.16

During the battle, the five kings escaped and hid in a cave at Makkedah.

Josh.10.17

And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah.

Josh.10.17

Joshua was told, "The five kings have been found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah."

Josh.10.17

When Joshua was told that the five kings had been found hiding in the cave at Makkedah,

Josh.10.17

And it was told Joshua, saying, "The five kings have been found hidden in the cave at Makkedah."

Josh.10.17

When Joshua heard that they had been found,

Josh.10.18

And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:

Josh.10.18

Joshua said, "Roll big stones against the mouth of the cave and post guards to keep watch.

Josh.10.18

he said, "Roll large rocks up to the mouth of the cave, and post some men there to guard it.

Josh.10.18

So Joshua said, "Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave, and set men by it to guard them.

Josh.10.18

he issued this command: "Cover the opening of the cave with large rocks and place guards at the entrance to keep the kings inside.

Josh.10.19

And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the LORD your God hath delivered them into your hand.

Josh.10.19

But don't you hang around--go after your enemies. Cut off their retreat. Don't let them back into their cities. GOD has given them to you."

Josh.10.19

But don't stop! Pursue your enemies, attack them from the rear and don't let them reach their cities, for the LORD your God has given them into your hand."

Josh.10.19

And do not stay there yourselves, but pursue your enemies, and attack their rear guard. Do not allow them to enter their cities, for the LORD your God has delivered them into your hand."

Josh.10.19

The rest of you continue chasing the enemy and cut them down from the rear. Don't let them get back to their cities, for the LORD your God has given you victory over them."

Josh.10.20

And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities.

Josh.10.20

Joshua and the People of Israel then finished them off, total devastation. Only a few got away to the fortified towns.

Josh.10.20

So Joshua and the Israelites destroyed them completely-almost to a man-but the few who were left reached their fortified cities.

Josh.10.20

Then it happened, while Joshua and the children of Israel made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they had finished, that those who escaped entered fortified cities.

Josh.10.20

So Joshua and the Israelite army continued the slaughter and wiped out the five armies except for a tiny remnant that managed to reach their fortified cities.

Josh.10.21

And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.

Josh.10.21

The whole army then returned intact to the camp and to Joshua at Makkedah. There was no criticism that day from the People of Israel!

Josh.10.21

The whole army then returned safely to Joshua in the camp at Makkedah, and no one uttered a word against the Israelites.

Josh.10.21

And all the people returned to the camp, to Joshua at Makkedah, in peace. No one moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.

Josh.10.21

Then the Israelites returned safely to their camp at Makkedah. After that, no one dared to speak a word against Israel.

Josh.10.22

Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.

Josh.10.22

Then Joshua said, "Open the mouth of the cave and bring me those five kings."

Josh.10.22

Joshua said, "Open the mouth of the cave and bring those five kings out to me."

Josh.10.22

Then Joshua said, "Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings to me from the cave."

Josh.10.22

Then Joshua said, "Remove the rocks covering the opening of the cave and bring the five kings to me."

Josh.10.23

And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.

Josh.10.23

They did it. They brought him the five kings from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.

Josh.10.23

So they brought the five kings out of the cave-the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon.

Josh.10.23

And they did so, and brought out those five kings to him from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.

Josh.10.23

So they brought the five kings out of the cave--the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon.

Josh.10.24

And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.

Josh.10.24

When they had them all there in front of Joshua, he called up the army and told the field commanders who had been with him, "Come here. Put your feet on the necks of these kings." They stepped up and put their feet on their necks.

Josh.10.24

When they had brought these kings to Joshua, he summoned all the men of Israel and said to the army commanders who had come with him, "Come here and put your feet on the necks of these kings." So they came forward and placed their feet on their necks.
