In the course of his journey through Galilee, he arrived at the town of Cana, where he had turned the water into wine. There was a government official in the city of Capernaum whose son was very sick.

When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and asked that he come down and heal his son, who was on the brink of death.

When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.

When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.

When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea and was traveling in Galilee, he went over to Cana. He found Jesus and begged him to come to Capernaum with him to heal his son, who was about to die.

Jesus put him off: "Unless you people are dazzled by a miracle, you refuse to believe."

"Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders," Jesus told him, "you will never believe."

Then Jesus said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe."

Jesus asked, "Must I do miraculous signs and wonders before you people will believe in me?"

But the court official wouldn't be put off. "Come down! It's life or death for my son."

The royal official said, "Sir, come down before my child dies."

John.4.49

The nobleman said to Him, "Sir, come down before my child dies!"

John.4.49

The official pleaded, "Lord, please come now before my little boy dies."

Jesus simply replied, "Go home. Your son lives." The man believed the bare word Jesus spoke and headed home.

Jesus replied, "You may go. Your son will live." The man took Jesus at his word and departed.

Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your son lives." So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.

Then Jesus told him, "Go back home. Your son will live!" And the man believed Jesus' word and started home.

On his way back, his servants intercepted him and announced, "Your son lives!"

While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living.

And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, "Your son lives!"

While he was on his way, some of his servants met him with the news that his son was alive and well.

He asked them what time he began to get better. They said, "The fever broke yesterday afternoon at one o'clock."

When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, "The fever left him yesterday at the seventh hour."

Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, "Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him."

He asked them when the boy had begun to feel better, and they replied, "Yesterday afternoon at one o'clock his fever suddenly disappeared!"

The father knew that that was the very moment Jesus had said, "Your son lives." That clinched it. Not only he but his entire household believed.

Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live." So he and all his household believed.

So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, "Your son lives." And he himself believed, and his whole household.

Then the father realized it was the same time that Jesus had told him, "Your son will live." And the officer and his entire household believed in Jesus.

This was now the second sign Jesus gave after having come from Judea into Galilee.

The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me."

"I can't, sir," the sick man said, "for I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I am trying to get there, someone else always gets in ahead of me."

The man was healed on the spot. He picked up his bedroll and walked off. That day happened to be the Sabbath.

Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk."

Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk."

Jesus told him, "Stand up, pick up your sleeping mat, and walk!"

The Jews stopped the healed man and said, "It's the Sabbath. You can't carry your bedroll around. It's against the rules."

At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath,

And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.

Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up the mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath day.

But he told them, "The man who made me well told me to. He said, "Take your bedroll and start walking.'"

and so the Jews said to the man who had been healed, "It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat."

The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, "It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed."

So the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, "You can't work on the Sabbath! It's illegal to carry that sleeping mat!"

They asked, "Who gave you the order to take it up and start walking?"

John.5.11

But he replied, "The man who made me well said to me, 'Pick up your mat and walk.'"

John.5.11

He answered them, "He who made me well said to me, "Take up your bed and walk."'

John.5.11

He replied, "The man who healed me said to me, 'Pick up your sleeping mat and walk.'"

But the healed man didn't know, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd.

So they asked him, "Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?"

John.5.12

Then they asked him, "Who is the Man who said to you, "Take up your bed and walk'?"

John.5.12

"Who said such a thing as that?" they demanded.

John.5.13

A little later Jesus found him in the Temple and said, "You look wonderful! You're well! Don't return to a sinning life or something worse might happen."

The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.

But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place.

The man didn't know, for Jesus had disappeared into the crowd.

The man went back and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, "See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you."

Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you."

But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, "Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you."

That is why the Jews were out to get Jesus--because he did this kind of thing on the Sabbath.
