And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?

John.4.27

Just then his disciples came back. They were shocked. They couldn't believe he was talking with that kind of a woman. No one said what they were all thinking, but their faces showed it.

John.4.27

Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, "What do you want?" or "Why are you talking with her?"

John.4.27

And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, "What do You seek?" or, "Why are You talking with her?"

John.4.27

Just then his disciples arrived. They were astonished to find him talking to a woman, but none of them asked him why he was doing it or what they had been discussing.

John.4.28

The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

John.4.28

The woman took the hint and left. In her confusion she left her water pot. Back in the village she told the people,

John.4.28

Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people,

John.4.28

The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men,

The woman left her water jar beside the well and went back to the village and told everyone,

John.4.29

Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

John.4.29

"Come see a man who knew all about the things I did, who knows me inside and out. Do you think this could be the Messiah?"

John.4.29

"Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"

John.4.29

"Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"

John.4.29

"Come and meet a man who told me everything I ever did! Can this be the Messiah?"

John.4.30

Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

John.4.30

And they went out to see for themselves.

John.4.30

They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

John.4.30

Then they went out of the city and came to Him.

John.4.30

So the people came streaming from the village to see him.

John.4.31

In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

John.4.31

In the meantime, the disciples pressed him, "Rabbi, eat. Aren't you going to eat?"

John.4.31

Meanwhile his disciples urged him, "Rabbi, eat something."

John.4.31

In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, "Rabbi, eat."

John.4.31

Meanwhile, the disciples were urging Jesus to eat.

John.4.32

But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.

John.4.32

He told them, "I have food to eat you know nothing about."

John.4.32

But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about."

John.4.32

But He said to them, "I have food to eat of which you do not know."

John.4.32

"No," he said, "I have food you don't know about."

John.4.33

Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?

John.4.33

The disciples were puzzled. "Who could have brought him food?"

John.4.33

Then his disciples said to each other, "Could someone have brought him food?"

John.4.33

Therefore the disciples said to one another, "Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?"

John.4.33

"Who brought it to him?" the disciples asked each other.

John.4.34

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

John.4.34

Jesus said, "The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started.

John.4.34

"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

John.4.34

Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

John.4.34

Then Jesus explained: "My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.

John.4.35

Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

John.4.35

As you look around right now, wouldn't you say that in about four months it will be time to harvest? Well, I'm telling you to open your eyes and take a good look at what's right in front of you. These Samaritan fields are ripe. It's harvest time!

John.4.35

Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

John.4.35

Do you not say, "There are still four months and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!

John.4.35

Do you think the work of harvesting will not begin until the summer ends four months from now? Look around you! Vast fields are ripening all around us and are ready now for the harvest.

John.4.36

And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

John.4.36

"The Harvester isn't waiting. He's taking his pay, gathering in this grain that's ripe for eternal life. Now the Sower is arm in arm with the Harvester, triumphant.

John.4.36

Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.

John.4.36

And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.

John.4.36

The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike!

John.4.37

And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

John.4.37

That's the truth of the saying, "This one sows, that one harvests.'

John.4.37

Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true.

John.4.37

For in this the saying is true: "One sows and another reaps.'

John.4.37

You know the saying, 'One person plants and someone else harvests.' And it's true.

John.4.38

I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

John.4.38

I sent you to harvest a field you never worked. Without lifting a finger, you have walked in on a field worked long and hard by others."

John.4.38

I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor."

John.4.38

I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors."

John.4.38

I sent you to harvest where you didn't plant; others had already done the work, and you will gather the harvest."

John.4.39

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

John.4.39

Many of the Samaritans from that village committed themselves to him because of the woman's witness: "He knew all about the things I did. He knows me inside and out!"

John.4.39

Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me everything I ever did."

John.4.39

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, "He told me all that I ever did."

John.4.39

Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because the woman had said, "He told me everything I ever did!"

John.4.40

So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

John.4.40

They asked him to stay on, so Jesus stayed two days.

So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days.

So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.

When they came out to see him, they begged him to stay at their village. So he stayed for two days,

And many more believed because of his own word;

A lot more people entrusted their lives to him when they heard what he had to say.

John.4.41

And because of his words many more became believers.

John.4.41

And many more believed because of His own word.

John.4.41

long enough for many of them to hear his message and believe.

John.4.42

And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

John.4.42

They said to the woman, "We're no longer taking this on your say-so. We've heard it for ourselves and know it for sure. He's the Savior of the world!" [JC]

John.4.42

They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world."

John.4.42

Then they said to the woman, "Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world."

John.4.42

Then they said to the woman, "Now we believe because we have heard him ourselves, not just because of what you told us. He is indeed the Savior of the world."
