I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

John.13.18

"I'm not including all of you in this. I know precisely whom I've selected, so as not to interfere with the fulfillment of this Scripture: The one who ate bread at my table Turned on his heel against me.

John.13.18

"I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture: 'He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me.'

"I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, "He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.'

"I am not saying these things to all of you; I know so well each one of you I chose. The Scriptures declare, 'The one who shares my food has turned against me,' and this will soon come true.

Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

"I'm telling you all this ahead of time so that when it happens you will believe that I am who I say I am.

"I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am He.

Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He.

I tell you this now, so that when it happens you will believe I am the Messiah.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Make sure you get this right: Receiving someone I send is the same as receiving me, just as receiving me is the same as receiving the One who sent me."

I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me."

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me."

When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

After he said these things, Jesus became visibly upset, and then he told them why. "One of you is going to betray me."

When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me."

Now Jesus was in great anguish of spirit, and he exclaimed, "The truth is, one of you will betray me!"

Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.

Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.

Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, "Ask him which one he means."

Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to ask who it was of whom He spoke.

Simon Peter motioned to him to ask who would do this terrible thing.

He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

So, being the closest, he said, "Master, who?"

Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, "Lord, who is it?"

Then, leaning back on Jesus' breast, he said to Him, "Lord, who is it?"

Leaning toward Jesus, he asked, "Lord, who is it?"

Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

John.13.26

Jesus said, "The one to whom I give this crust of bread after I've dipped it." Then he dipped the crust and gave it to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot.

Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish." Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.

John.13.26

Jesus answered, "It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it." And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

Jesus said, "It is the one to whom I give the bread dipped in the sauce." And when he had dipped it, he gave it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot.

And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

John.13.27

As soon as the bread was in his hand, Satan entered him. "What you must do," said Jesus, "do. Do it and get it over with."

As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.

John.13.27

Now after the piece of bread, Satan entered him. Then Jesus said to him, "What you do, do quickly."

John.13.27

As soon as Judas had eaten the bread, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus told him, "Hurry. Do it now."

Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.

John.13.28

No one around the supper table knew why he said this to him.

John.13.28

"What you are about to do, do quickly," Jesus told him, but no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him.

John.13.28

But no one at the table knew for what reason He said this to him.

None of the others at the table knew what Jesus meant.

For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

John.13.29

Some thought that since Judas was their treasurer, Jesus was telling him to buy what they needed for the Feast, or that he should give something to the poor.

Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the Feast, or to give something to the poor.

For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus had said to him, "Buy those things we need for the feast," or that he should give something to the poor.

He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.

Judas, with the piece of bread, left. It was night.

So Judas left at once, going out into the night.

Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

When he had left, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man is seen for who he is, and God seen for who he is in him. The moment God is seen in him,

So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him.

As soon as Judas left the room, Jesus said, "The time has come for me, the Son of Man, to enter into my glory, and God will receive glory because of all that happens to me.

If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.

God's glory will be on display. In glorifying him, he himself is glorified--glory all around!

If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once.

If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately.

And God will bring me into my glory very soon.

Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

"Children, I am with you for only a short time longer. You are going to look high and low for me. But just as I told the Jews, I'm telling you: "Where I go, you are not able to come.'

"My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.

John.13.33

Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, "Where I am going, you cannot come,' so now I say to you.

Dear children, how brief are these moments before I must go away and leave you! Then, though you search for me, you cannot come to me--just as I told the Jewish leaders.

John.13.34

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

"Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another.

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples--when they see the love you have for each other."

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."

Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.

John.13.36

Simon Peter asked, "Master, just where are you going?" Jesus answered, "You can't now follow me where I'm going. You will follow later."

John.13.36

Simon Peter asked him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus replied, "Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later."

John.13.36

Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, where are You going?" Jesus answered him, "Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward."

John.13.36

Simon Peter said, "Lord, where are you going?" And Jesus replied, "You can't go with me now, but you will follow me later."

John.13.37

Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.

John.13.37

"Master," said Peter, "why can't I follow now? I'll lay down my life for you!"

John.13.37

Peter asked, "Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you."

John.13.37

Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake."

John.13.37

"But why can't I come now, Lord?" he asked. "I am ready to die for you."

John.13.38

Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.

John.13.38

"Really? You'll lay down your life for me? The truth is that before the rooster crows, you'll deny me three times."

John.13.38

Then Jesus answered, "Will you really lay down your life for me? I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!

John.13.38

Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.

John.13.38

Jesus answered, "Die for me? No, before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.
