Joel.2.18

Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.

Joel.2.18

At that, GOD went into action to get his land back. He took pity on his people.

Then the LORD will be jealous for his land and take pity on his people.

Then the LORD will be zealous for His land, And pity His people.

Joel.2.18

Then the LORD will pity his people and be indignant for the honor of his land!

Joel.2.19

Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:

Joel.2.19

GOD answered and spoke to his people, "Look, listen--I'm sending a gift: Grain and wine and olive oil. The fast is over--eat your fill! I won't expose you any longer to contempt among the pagans.

Joel.2.19

The LORD will reply to them: "I am sending you grain, new wine and oil, enough to satisfy you fully; never again will I make you an object of scorn to the nations.

Joel.2.19

The LORD will answer and say to His people, "Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil, And you will be satisfied by them; I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations.

Joel.2.19

He will reply, "Look! I am sending you grain and wine and olive oil, enough to satisfy your needs. You will no longer be an object of mockery among the surrounding nations.

Joel.2.20

But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.

I'll head off the final enemy coming out of the north and dump them in a wasteland. Half of them will end up in the Dead Sea, the other half in the Mediterranean. There they'll rot, a stench to high heaven. The bigger the enemy, the stronger the stench!"

"I will drive the northern army far from you, pushing it into a parched and barren land, with its front columns going into the eastern sea and those in the rear into the western sea. And its stench will go up; its smell will rise." Surely he has done great things.

"But I will remove far from you the northern army, And will drive him away into a barren and desolate land, With his face toward the eastern sea And his back toward the western sea; His stench will come up, And his foul odor will rise, Because he has done monstrous things."

Joel.2.20

I will remove these armies from the north and send them far away. I will drive them back into the parched wastelands, where they will die. Those in the rear will go into the Dead Sea; those at the front will go into the Mediterranean. The stench of their rotting bodies will rise over the land." Surely the LORD has done great things!

Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.

Fear not, earth! Be glad and celebrate! GOD has done great things.

Don't be afraid, my people! Be glad now and rejoice because the LORD has done great things.

Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.

Joel.2.22

Fear not, wild animals! The fields and meadows are greening up. The trees are bearing fruit again: a bumper crop of fig trees and vines!

Be not afraid, O wild animals, for the open pastures are becoming green. The trees are bearing their fruit; the fig tree and the vine yield their riches.

Do not be afraid, you beasts of the field; For the open pastures are springing up, And the tree bears its fruit; The fig tree and the vine yield their strength.

Joel.2.22

Don't be afraid, you animals of the field! The pastures will soon be green. The trees will again be filled with luscious fruit; fig trees and grapevines will flourish once more.

Joel.2.23

Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

Joel.2.23

Children of Zion, celebrate! Be glad in your GOD. He's giving you a teacher to train you how to live right--Teaching, like rain out of heaven, showers of words to refresh and nourish your soul, just as he used to do.

Joel.2.23

Be glad, O people of Zion, rejoice in the LORD your God, for he has given you the autumn rains in righteousness. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before.

Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the LORD your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you-- The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month.

Joel.2.23

Rejoice, you people of Jerusalem! Rejoice in the LORD your God! For the rains he sends are an expression of his grace. Once more the autumn rains will come, as well as the rains of spring.

And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.

And plenty of food for your body--silos full of grain, casks of wine and barrels of olive oil. [JC]

The threshing floors will be filled with grain; the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.

The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.

The threshing floors will again be piled high with grain, and the presses will overflow with wine and olive oil.

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

"I'll make up for the years of the locust, the great locust devastation--Locusts savage, locusts deadly, fierce locusts, locusts of doom, That great locust invasion I sent your way.

"I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten- the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm - my great army that I sent among you.

"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.

Joel.2.25

The LORD says, "I will give you back what you lost to the stripping locusts, the cutting locusts, the swarming locusts, and the hopping locusts. It was I who sent this great destroying army against you.

Joel.2.26

And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

Joel.2.26

You'll eat your fill of good food. You'll be full of praises to your GOD, The God who has set you back on your heels in wonder. Never again will my people be despised.

Joel.2.26

You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.

Joel.2.26

You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame.

Joel.2.26

Once again you will have all the food you want, and you will praise the LORD your God, who does these miracles for you. Never again will my people be disgraced like this.

Joel.2.27

And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

You'll know without question that I'm in the thick of life with Israel, That I'm your GOD, yes, your GOD, the one and only real God. Never again will my people be despised.

Joel.2.27

Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the LORD your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed.

Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the LORD your God And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.

Then you will know that I am here among my people of Israel and that I alone am the LORD your God. My people will never again be disgraced like this.

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

"And that's just the beginning: After that--"I will pour out my Spirit on every kind of people: Your sons will prophesy, also your daughters. Your old men will dream, your young men will see visions.

"And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

"And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.

"Then after I have poured out my rains again, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions.

And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

I'll even pour out my Spirit on the servants, men and women both.

Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

I'll set wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth below: Blood and fire and billowing smoke,

"And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

the sun turning black and the moon blood-red, Before the Judgment Day of GOD, the Day tremendous and awesome.

The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.

The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.

The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon will turn bloodred before that great and terrible day of the LORD arrives.

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Whoever calls, "Help, GOD!' gets help. On Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be a great rescue--just as GOD said. Included in the survivors are those that GOD calls.

Joel.2.32

And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the survivors whom the LORD calls.

And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.

Joel.2.32

And anyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved. There will be people on Mount Zion in Jerusalem who escape, just as the LORD has said. These will be among the survivors whom the LORD has called.

For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

"In those days, yes, at that very time when I put life back together again for Judah and Jerusalem,

"In those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,

"For behold, in those days and at that time, When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem,

"At that time, when I restore the prosperity of Judah and Jerusalem," says the LORD,

Joel.3.2

I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

Joel.3.2

I'll assemble all the godless nations. I'll lead them down into Judgment Valley And put them all on trial, and judge them one and all because of their treatment of my own people Israel. They scattered my people all over the pagan world and grabbed my land for themselves.

I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning my inheritance, my people Israel, for they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.

I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.

"I will gather the armies of the world into the valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will judge them for harming my people, for scattering my inheritance among the nations, and for dividing up my land.

And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.

They threw dice for my people and used them for barter. They would trade a boy for a whore, sell a girl for a bottle of wine when they wanted a drink. [JC]

They cast lots for my people and traded boys for prostitutes; they sold girls for wine that they might drink.

They have cast lots for My people, Have given a boy as payment for a harlot, And sold a girl for wine, that they may drink.

They cast lots to decide which of my people would be their slaves. They traded young boys for prostitutes and little girls for enough wine to get drunk.

Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;

"As for you, Tyre and Sidon and Philistia, why should I bother with you? Are you trying to get back at me for something I did to you? If you are, forget it. I'll see to it that it boomerangs on you.

"Now what have you against me, O Tyre and Sidon and all you regions of Philistia? Are you repaying me for something I have done? If you are paying me back, I will swiftly and speedily return on your own heads what you have done.

Joel.3.4

"Indeed, what have you to do with Me, O Tyre and Sidon, and all the coasts of Philistia? Will you retaliate against Me? But if you retaliate against Me, Swiftly and speedily I will return your retaliation upon your own head;

"What do you have against me, Tyre and Sidon and you cities of Philistia? Are you trying to take revenge on me? If you are, then watch out! I will strike swiftly and pay you back for everything you have done.

Joel.3.5

Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:

You robbed me, cleaned me out of silver and gold, carted off everything valuable to furnish your own temples.

Joel.3.5

For you took my silver and my gold and carried off my finest treasures to your temples.

Because you have taken My silver and My gold, And have carried into your temples My prized possessions.

You have taken my silver and gold and all my precious treasures, and you have carried them off to your pagan temples.

The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.

You sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem into slavery to the Greeks in faraway places.

You sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks, that you might send them far from their homeland.

Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head:

But I'm going to reverse your crime. I'm going to free those slaves. I'll have done to you what you did to them:

"See, I am going to rouse them out of the places to which you sold them, and I will return on your own heads what you have done.

"Behold, I will raise them Out of the place to which you have sold them, And will return your retaliation upon your own head.

But I will bring them back again from all these places to which you sold them, and I will pay you back for all you have done.

And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.

I'll sell your children as slaves to your neighbors, And they'll sell them to the far-off Sabeans." GOD's Verdict. [JC]

I will sell your sons and daughters to the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans, a nation far away." The LORD has spoken.

I will sell your sons and your daughters Into the hand of the people of Judah, And they will sell them to the Sabeans, To a people far off; For the LORD has spoken."

I will sell your sons and daughters to the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the peoples of Arabia, a nation far away. I, the LORD, have spoken!"

Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:

Announce this to the godless nations: Prepare for battle! Soldiers at attention! Present arms! Advance!

Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare for war! Rouse the warriors! Let all the fighting men draw near and attack.

Proclaim this among the nations: "Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, Let all the men of war draw near, Let them come up.

Say to the nations far and wide: "Get ready for war! Call out your best warriors! Let all your fighting men advance for the attack!

Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

Turn your shovels into swords, turn your hoes into spears. Let the weak one throw out his chest and say, "I'm tough, I'm a fighter."

Hurry up, pagans! Wherever you are, get a move on! Get your act together. Prepare to be shattered by GOD!

Come quickly, all you nations from every side, and assemble there. Bring down your warriors, O LORD!

Come quickly, all you nations everywhere! Gather together in the valley." And now, O LORD, call out your warriors!

Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.

Let the pagan nations set out for Judgment Valley. There I'll take my place at the bench and judge all the surrounding nations.

"Let the nations be roused; let them advance into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the nations on every side.

Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

"Swing the sickle--the harvest is ready. Stomp on the grapes--the winepress is full. The wine vats are full, overflowing with vintage evil.

Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, trample the grapes, for the winepress is full and the vats overflow- so great is their wickedness!"

Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For the winepress is full, The vats overflow-- For their wickedness is great."

Now let the sickle do its work, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread the winepress because it is full. The storage vats are overflowing with the wickedness of these people."

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

"Mass confusion, mob uproar--in Decision Valley! GOD's Judgment Day has arrived in Decision Valley.

Thousands upon thousands are waiting in the valley of decision. It is there that the day of the LORD will soon arrive.

The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

"The sky turns black, sun and moon go dark, stars burn out.

The sun and moon will be darkened, and the stars no longer shine.

The sun and moon will grow dark, And the stars will diminish their brightness.

The sun and moon will grow dark, and the stars will no longer shine.

Joel.3.16

The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

Joel.3.16

GOD roars from Zion, shouts from Jerusalem. Earth and sky quake in terror. But GOD is a safe hiding place, a granite safe house for the children of Israel.

The LORD will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the sky will tremble. But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.

The LORD also will roar from Zion, And utter His voice from Jerusalem; The heavens and earth will shake; But the LORD will be a shelter for His people, And the strength of the children of Israel.

The LORD's voice will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem, and the earth and heavens will begin to shake. But to his people of Israel, the LORD will be a welcoming refuge and a strong fortress.

So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.

Joel.3.17

Then you'll know for sure that I'm your GOD, Living in Zion, my sacred mountain. Jerusalem will be a sacred city, posted: "NO TRESPASSING.'

"Then you will know that I, the LORD your God, dwell in Zion, my holy hill. Jerusalem will be holy; never again will foreigners invade her.

"So you shall know that I am the LORD your God, Dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. Then Jerusalem shall be holy, And no aliens shall ever pass through her again."

"Then you will know that I, the LORD your God, live in Zion, my holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy forever, and foreign armies will never conquer her again.

Joel.3.18

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

"What a day! Wine streaming off the mountains, Milk rivering out of the hills, water flowing everywhere in Judah, A fountain pouring out of GOD's Sanctuary, watering all the parks and gardens!

"In that day the mountains will drip new wine, and the hills will flow with milk; all the ravines of Judah will run with water. A fountain will flow out of the LORD's house and will water the valley of acacias.

Joel.3.18

And it will come to pass in that day That the mountains shall drip with new wine, The hills shall flow with milk, And all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water; A fountain shall flow from the house of the LORD And water the Valley of Acacias.

Joel.3.18

In that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. Water will fill the dry streambeds of Judah, and a fountain will burst forth from the LORD's Temple, watering the arid valley of acacias.

Joel.3.19

Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

Joel.3.19

But Egypt will be reduced to weeds in a vacant lot, Edom turned into barren badlands, All because of brutalities to the Judean people, the atrocities and murders of helpless innocents.

Joel.3.19

But Egypt will be desolate, Edom a desert waste, because of violence done to the people of Judah, in whose land they shed innocent blood.

Joel.3.19

"Egypt shall be a desolation, And Edom a desolate wilderness, Because of violence against the people of Judah, For they have shed innocent blood in their land.

Joel.3.19

Egypt will become a wasteland and Edom a wilderness, because they attacked Judah and killed her innocent people.

Joel.3.20

But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.

Joel.3.20

Meanwhile, Judah will be filled with people, Jerusalem inhabited forever.

Judah will be inhabited forever and Jerusalem through all generations.

Joel.3.20

But Judah shall abide forever, And Jerusalem from generation to generation.

"But Judah will remain forever, and Jerusalem will endure through all future generations.

Joel.3.21

For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.

The sins I haven't already forgiven, I'll forgive." GOD has moved into Zion for good.

Joel.3.21

Their bloodguilt, which I have not pardoned, I will pardon." The LORD dwells in Zion!

For I will acquit them of the guilt of bloodshed, whom I had not acquitted; For the LORD dwells in Zion."
