Heb.4.14

Now that we know what we have--Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God--let's not let it slip through our fingers.

Every high priest selected to represent men and women before God and offer sacrifices for their sins

Every high priest is selected from among men and is appointed to represent them in matters related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.

For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.

Now a high priest is a man chosen to represent other human beings in their dealings with God. He presents their gifts to God and offers their sacrifices for sins.

should be able to deal gently with their failings, since he knows what it's like from his own experience.

He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness.

And because he is human, he is able to deal gently with the people, though they are ignorant and wayward. For he is subject to the same weaknesses they have.

But that also meaos that he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins as well as the people's.

No one elects himself to this honored position. He's called to it by God, as Aaron was.

And no one can become a high priest simply because he wants such an honor. He has to be called by God for this work, just as Aaron was.

Neither did Christ presume to set himself up as high priest, but was set apart by the One who said to him, "You're my Son; today I celebrate you!"

So Christ also did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father. "

So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: "You are My Son, Today I have begotten You."

That is why Christ did not exalt himself to become High Priest. No, he was chosen by God, who said to him, "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father. "

In another place God declares, "You're a priest forever in the royal order of Melchizedek."

And in another passage God said to him, "You are a priest forever in the line of Melchizedek."

While he lived on earth, anticipating death, Jesus cried out in pain and wept in sorrow as he offered up priestly prayers to God. Because he honored God, God answered him.

During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.

who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,

While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could deliver him out of death. And God heard his prayers because of his reverence for God.

Though he was God's Son, he learned trusting-obedience by what he suffered, just as we do.
