Heb.1.1

Going through a long line of prophets, God has been addressing our ancestors in different ways for centuries.

Heb.1.1

In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets.

Heb.1.2

Recently he spoke to us directly through his Son. By his Son, God created the world in the beginning, and it will all belong to the Son at the end.

Heb.1.2

but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

Heb.1.2

has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

Heb.1.2

But now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he made the universe and everything in it.

Heb.1.3

This Son perfectly mirrors God, and is stamped with God's nature. He holds everything together by what he says--powerful words! After he finished the sacrifice for sins, the Son took his honored place high in the heavens right alongside God,

Heb.1.3

The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Heb.1.3

The Son reflects God's own glory, and everything about him represents God exactly. He sustains the universe by the mighty power of his command. After he died to cleanse us from the stain of sin, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God of heaven.

Heb.1.4

far higher than any angel in rank and rule.

Heb.1.4

So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

This shows that God's Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is far greater than their names.

Heb.1.5

Did God ever say to an angel, "You're my Son; today I celebrate you"? Or, "I'm his Father, he's my Son"?

For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father "? Or again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son"?

Heb.1.5

For to which of the angels did He ever say: "You are My Son, Today I have begotten You"? And again: "I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son"?

Heb.1.5

For God never said to any angel what he said to Jesus: "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father. "And again God said, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son."

Heb.1.6

When he presents his honored Son to the world, he says, "All angels must worship him."

Heb.1.6

And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."

Heb.1.6

But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: "Let all the angels of God worship Him."

Heb.1.6

And then, when he presented his honored Son to the world, God said, "Let all the angels of God worship him."

Heb.1.7

Regarding angels he says, The messengers are winds, the servants are tongues of fire.

Heb.1.7

In speaking of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire."

Heb.1.7

And of the angels He says: "Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire."

Heb.1.7

God calls his angels "messengers swift as the wind, and servants made of flaming fire."

Heb.1.8

But he says to the Son, You're God, and on the throne for good; your rule makes everything right.

Heb.1.8

But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.

Heb.1.8

But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

Heb.1.8

But to his Son he says, "Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. Your royal power is expressed in righteousness.

Heb.1.9

You love it when things are right; you hate it when things are wrong. That is why God, your God, poured fragrant oil on your head, Marking you out as king, far above your dear companions.

Heb.1.9

You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy."

Heb.1.9

You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions."

Heb.1.9

You love what is right and hate what is wrong. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else."

Heb.1.10

And again to the Son, You, Master, started it all, laid earth's foundations, then crafted the stars in the sky.

Heb.1.10

He also says, "In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

Heb.1.10

And: "You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.

Heb.1.10

And, "Lord, in the beginning you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

Heb.1.11

Earth and sky will wear out, but not you; they become threadbare like an old coat;

Heb.1.11

They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment.

Heb.1.11

They will perish, but You remain; And they will all grow old like a garment;

Heb.1.11

Even they will perish, but you remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing.

Heb.1.12

You'll fold them up like a worn-out cloak, and lay them away on the shelf. But you'll stay the same, year after year; you'll never fade, you'll never wear out.

Heb.1.12

You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end."

Heb.1.12

Like a cloak You will fold them up, And they will be changed. But You are the same, And Your years will not fail."

Heb.1.12

You will roll them up like an old coat. They will fade away like old clothing. But you are always the same; you will never grow old."

Heb.1.13

And did he ever say anything like this to an angel? Sit alongside me here on my throne Until I make your enemies a stool for your feet.

To which of the angels did God ever say, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"?

Heb.1.13

But to which of the angels has He ever said: "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool"?

Heb.1.13

And God never said to an angel, as he did to his Son, "Sit in honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet."

Heb.1.14

Isn't it obvious that all angels are sent to help out with those lined up to receive salvation?

Heb.1.14

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Heb.1.14

Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

Heb.1.14

But angels are only servants. They are spirits sent from God to care for those who will receive salvation.
