Gen.17.1

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, GOD showed up and said to him, "I am The Strong God, live entirely before me, live to the hilt!

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless.

Gen.17.1

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty; serve me faithfully and live a blameless life.

I'll make a covenant between us and I'll give you a huge family."

Gen.17.2

I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers."

Gen.17.2

And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly."

Gen.17.2

I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to make you into a mighty nation."

Gen.17.3

Overwhelmed, Abram fell flat on his face. Then God said to him,

Abram fell facedown, and God said to him,

Gen.17.3

Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying:

Gen.17.3

At this, Abram fell face down in the dust. Then God said to him,

Gen.17.4

"This is my covenant with you: You'll be the father of many nations.

Gen.17.4

"As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations.

Gen.17.4

"As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.

Gen.17.4

"This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of not just one nation, but a multitude of nations!

Gen.17.5

Your name will no longer be Abram, but Abraham, meaning that "I'm making you the father of many nations.'

Gen.17.5

No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.

Gen.17.5

No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations.

Gen.17.5

What's more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram; now you will be known as Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations.

Gen.17.6

I'll make you a father of fathers--I'll make nations from you, kings will issue from you.

Gen.17.6

I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you.

Gen.17.6

I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.

I will give you millions of descendants who will represent many nations. Kings will be among them!

Gen.17.7

I'm establishing my covenant between me and you, a covenant that includes your descendants, a covenant that goes on and on and on, a covenant that commits me to be your God and the God of your descendants.

I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.

And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.

"I will continue this everlasting covenant between us, generation after generation. It will continue between me and your offspring forever. And I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you.

And I'm giving you and your descendants this land where you're now just camping, this whole country of Canaan, to own forever. And I'll be their God."

The whole land of Canaan, where you are now an alien, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God."

Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God."

Yes, I will give all this land of Canaan to you and to your offspring forever. And I will be their God.

Gen.17.9

God continued to Abraham, "And you: You will honor my covenant, you and your descendants, generation after generation.

Gen.17.9

Then God said to Abraham, "As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.

Gen.17.9

And God said to Abraham: "As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.

Gen.17.9

"Your part of the agreement," God told Abraham, "is to obey the terms of the covenant. You and all your descendants have this continual responsibility.

Gen.17.10

This is the covenant that you are to honor, the covenant that pulls in all your descendants: Circumcise every male.

Gen.17.10

This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.

This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised;

This is the covenant that you and your descendants must keep: Each male among you must be circumcised;

Circumcise by cutting off the foreskin of the penis; it will be the sign of the covenant between us.

You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you.

and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you.

the flesh of his foreskin must be cut off. This will be a sign that you and they have accepted this covenant.

Gen.17.12

Every male baby will be circumcised when he is eight days old, generation after generation--this includes house-born slaves and slaves bought from outsiders who are not blood kin.

For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner-those who are not your offspring.

He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant.

Every male child must be circumcised on the eighth day after his birth. This applies not only to members of your family, but also to the servants born in your household and the foreign-born servants whom you have purchased.

Make sure you circumcise both your own children and anyone brought in from the outside. That way my covenant will be cut into your body, a permanent mark of my permanent covenant.

Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant.

He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

An uncircumcised male, one who has not had the foreskin of his penis cut off, will be cut off from his people--he has broken my covenant."

Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant."

And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant."

Anyone who refuses to be circumcised will be cut off from the covenant family for violating the covenant."

God continued speaking to Abraham, "And Sarai your wife: Don't call her Sarai any longer; call her Sarah.

Gen.17.15

God also said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah.

Gen.17.15

Then God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.

Gen.17.15

Then God added, "Regarding Sarai, your wife--her name will no longer be Sarai; from now on you will call her Sarah.

Gen.17.16

I'll bless her--yes! I'll give you a son by her! Oh, how I'll bless her! Nations will come from her; kings of nations will come from her."

Gen.17.16

I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her."

Gen.17.16

And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her."

Gen.17.16

And I will bless her and give you a son from her! Yes, I will bless her richly, and she will become the mother of many nations. Kings will be among her descendants!"

Gen.17.17

Abraham fell flat on his face. And then he laughed, thinking, "Can a hundred-year-old man father a son? And can Sarah, at ninety years, have a baby?"

Gen.17.17

Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, "Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?"

Gen.17.17

Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?"

Gen.17.17

Then Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief. "How could I become a father at the age of one hundred?" he wondered. "Besides, Sarah is ninety; how could she have a baby?"

Gen.17.18

Recovering, Abraham said to God, "Oh, keep Ishmael alive and well before you!"

Gen.17.18

And Abraham said to God, "If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!"

Gen.17.18

And Abraham said to God, "Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!"

Gen.17.18

And Abraham said to God, "Yes, may Ishmael enjoy your special blessing!"

Gen.17.19

But God said, "That's not what I mean. Your wife, Sarah, will have a baby, a son. Name him Isaac (Laughter). I'll establish my covenant with him and his descendants, a covenant that lasts forever.

Gen.17.19

Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

Gen.17.19

Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.

Gen.17.19

But God replied, "Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You will name him Isaac, and I will confirm my everlasting covenant with him and his descendants.

Gen.17.20

"And Ishmael? Yes, I heard your prayer for him. I'll also bless him; I'll make sure he has plenty of children--a huge family. He'll father twelve princes; I'll make him a great nation.

Gen.17.20

And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation.

Gen.17.20

And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.

Gen.17.20

As for Ishmael, I will bless him also, just as you have asked. I will cause him to multiply and become a great nation. Twelve princes will be among his descendants.

Gen.17.21

But I'll establish my covenant with Isaac whom Sarah will give you about this time next year."

But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year."

But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time next year."

Gen.17.21

But my covenant is with Isaac, who will be born to you and Sarah about this time next year."

God finished speaking with Abraham and left.

Gen.17.22

When he had finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him.

Gen.17.22

Then He finished talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

Gen.17.22

That ended the conversation, and God left Abraham.

Gen.17.23

Then Abraham took his son Ishmael and all his servants, whether houseborn or purchased--every male in his household--and circumcised them, cutting off their foreskins that very day, just as God had told him.

On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or bought with his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them, as God told him.

So Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very same day, as God had said to him.

On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and every other male in his household and circumcised them, cutting off their foreskins, exactly as God had told him.

And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

Abraham and Ishmael were circumcised the same day

Abraham and his son Ishmael were both circumcised on that same day.

That very same day Abraham was circumcised, and his son Ishmael;

Both were circumcised the same day,

together with all the servants of his household, those born there and those purchased from outsiders--all were circumcised with him. [JC]

GOD appeared to Abraham at the Oaks of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance of his tent. It was the hottest part of the day.

The LORD appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day.

Then the LORD appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day.

The LORD appeared again to Abraham while he was camped near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. One day about noon, as Abraham was sitting at the entrance to his tent,

He looked up and saw three men standing. He ran from his tent to greet them and bowed before them.

Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.

So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground,

he suddenly noticed three men standing nearby. He got up and ran to meet them, welcoming them by bowing low to the ground.

He said, "Master, if it please you, stop for a while with your servant.

He said, "If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by.

and said, "My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant.

"My lord," he said, "if it pleases you, stop here for a while.

I'll get some water so you can wash your feet. Rest under this tree.

Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree.

Rest in the shade of this tree while my servants get some water to wash your feet.

And I will bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh your hearts. After that you may pass by, inasmuch as you have come to your servant." They said, "Do as you have said."

Let me prepare some food to refresh you. Please stay awhile before continuing on your journey.All right," they said. "Do as you have said."

Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah. He said, "Hurry. Get three cups of our best flour; knead it and make bread."

Gen.18.6

So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah. "Quick," he said, "get three seahs of fine flour and knead it and bake some bread."

Gen.18.6

So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah and said, "Quickly, make ready three measures of fine meal; knead it and make cakes."

So Abraham ran back to the tent and said to Sarah, "Quick! Get three measures of your best flour, and bake some bread."

Then Abraham ran to the cattle pen and picked out a nice plump calf and gave it to the servant who lost no time getting it ready.

Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant, who hurried to prepare it.

And Abraham ran to the herd, took a tender and good calf, gave it to a young man, and he hastened to prepare it.

Then Abraham ran out to the herd and chose a fat calf and told a servant to hurry and butcher it.

Then he got curds and milk, brought them with the calf that had been roasted, set the meal before the men, and stood there under the tree while they ate.

He then brought some curds and milk and the calf that had been prepared, and set these before them. While they ate, he stood near them under a tree.

So he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree as they ate.

When the food was ready, he took some cheese curds and milk and the roasted meat, and he served it to the men. As they ate, Abraham waited on them there beneath the trees.

The men said to him, "Where is Sarah your wife?" He said, "In the tent."

"Where is your wife Sarah?" they asked him. "There, in the tent," he said.

Then they said to him, "Where is Sarah your wife?" So he said, "Here, in the tent."

"Where is Sarah, your wife?" they asked him. "In the tent," Abraham replied.

Gen.18.10

One of them said, "I'm coming back about this time next year. When I arrive, your wife Sarah will have a son." Sarah was listening at the tent opening, just behind the man.

Gen.18.10

Then the LORD said, "I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son." Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.

Gen.18.10

And He said, "I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son." (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.)

Then one of them said, "About this time next year I will return, and your wife Sarah will have a son." Now Sarah was listening to this conversation from the tent nearby.

Gen.18.11

Abraham and Sarah were old by this time, very old. Sarah was far past the age for having babies.

Abraham and Sarah were already old and well advanced in years, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing.

Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.

And since Abraham and Sarah were both very old, and Sarah was long past the age of having children,

Sarah laughed within herself, "An old woman like me? Get pregnant? With this old man of a husband?"

So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, "After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?"

Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?"

she laughed silently to herself. "How could a worn-out woman like me have a baby?" she thought. "And when my master--my husband--is also so old?"

GOD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh saying, "Me? Have a baby? An old woman like me?'

Gen.18.13

Then the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Will I really have a child, now that I am old?'

Gen.18.13

And the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, "Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?'

Then the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, `Can an old woman like me have a baby?'

Gen.18.14

Is anything too hard for GOD? I'll be back about this time next year and Sarah will have a baby."

Gen.18.14

Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son."

Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son."

Is anything too hard for the LORD? About a year from now, just as I told you, I will return, and Sarah will have a son."

Sarah lied. She said, "I didn't laugh," because she was afraid. But he said, "Yes you did; you laughed." [JC]

Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, "I did not laugh." But he said, "Yes, you did laugh."

Gen.18.15

But Sarah denied it, saying, "I did not laugh," for she was afraid. And He said, "No, but you did laugh!"

Sarah was afraid, so she denied that she had laughed. But he said, "That is not true. You did laugh."

Gen.18.16

When the men got up to leave, they set off for Sodom. Abraham walked with them to say good-bye.

When the men got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom, and Abraham walked along with them to see them on their way.

Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way.

Then GOD said, "Shall I keep back from Abraham what I'm about to do?

Then the LORD said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?

Gen.18.17

And the LORD said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing,

Gen.18.17

"Should I hide my plan from Abraham?" the LORD asked.

Gen.18.18

Abraham is going to become a large and strong nation; all the nations of the world are going to find themselves blessed through him.

Gen.18.18

Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him.

Gen.18.18

since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

Gen.18.18

"For Abraham will become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him.

Gen.18.19

Yes, I've settled on him as the one to train his children and future family to observe GOD's way of life, live kindly and generously and fairly, so that GOD can complete in Abraham what he promised him."

Gen.18.19

For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him."

Gen.18.19

For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him."

Gen.18.19

I have singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the LORD and do what is right and just. Then I will do for him all that I have promised."

Gen.18.20

GOD continued, "The cries of the victims in Sodom and Gomorrah are deafening; the sin of those cities is immense.

Gen.18.20

Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous

Gen.18.20

And the LORD said, "Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave,

Gen.18.20

So the LORD told Abraham, "I have heard that the people of Sodom and Gomorrah are extremely evil, and that everything they do is wicked.

Gen.18.21

I'm going down to see for myself, see if what they're doing is as bad as it sounds. Then I'll know."

Gen.18.21

that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."

Gen.18.21

I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know."

Gen.18.21

I am going down to see whether or not these reports are true. Then I will know."

Gen.18.22

The men set out for Sodom, but Abraham stood in GOD's path, blocking his way.

Gen.18.22

The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD.

Gen.18.22

Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the LORD.

Gen.18.22

The two other men went on toward Sodom, but the LORD remained with Abraham for a while.

Gen.18.23

Abraham confronted him, "Are you serious? Are you planning on getting rid of the good people right along with the bad?

Gen.18.23

Then Abraham approached him and said: "Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

Gen.18.23

And Abraham came near and said, "Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

Gen.18.23

Abraham approached him and said, "Will you destroy both innocent and guilty alike?

Gen.18.24

What if there are fifty decent people left in the city; will you lump the good with the bad and get rid of the lot?

Gen.18.24

What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?

Gen.18.24

Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it?

Gen.18.24

Suppose you find fifty innocent people there within the city--will you still destroy it, and not spare it for their sakes?

Gen.18.25

Wouldn't you spare the city for the sake of those fifty innocents? I can't believe you'd do that, kill off the good and the bad alike as if there were no difference between them. Doesn't the Judge of all the Earth judge with justice?"

Gen.18.25

Far be it from you to do such a thing-to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?"

Gen.18.25

Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?"

Gen.18.25

Surely you wouldn't do such a thing, destroying the innocent with the guilty. Why, you would be treating the innocent and the guilty exactly the same! Surely you wouldn't do that! Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?"

Gen.18.26

GOD said, "If I find fifty decent people in the city of Sodom, I'll spare the place just for them."

Gen.18.26

The LORD said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake."

Gen.18.26

So the LORD said, "If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes."

Gen.18.26

And the LORD replied, "If I find fifty innocent people in Sodom, I will spare the entire city for their sake."

Abraham came back, "Do I, a mere mortal made from a handful of dirt, dare open my mouth again to my Master?

Then Abraham spoke up again: "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes,

Then Abraham answered and said, "Indeed now, I who am but dust and ashes have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord:

Then Abraham spoke again. "Since I have begun, let me go on and speak further to my Lord, even though I am but dust and ashes.

Gen.18.28

What if the fifty fall short by five--would you destroy the city because of those missing five?" He said, "I won't destroy it if there are forty-five."

Gen.18.28

what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city because of five people?If I find forty-five there," he said, "I will not destroy it."

Gen.18.28

Suppose there were five less than the fifty righteous; would You destroy all of the city for lack of five?" So He said, "If I find there forty-five, I will not destroy it."

Gen.18.28

Suppose there are only forty-five? Will you destroy the city for lack of five?" And the LORD said, "I will not destroy it if I find forty-five."

Abraham spoke up again, "What if you only find forty?Neither will I destroy it if for forty."

Gen.18.29

Once again he spoke to him, "What if only forty are found there?" He said, "For the sake of forty, I will not do it."

And he spoke to Him yet again and said, "Suppose there should be forty found there?" So He said, "I will not do it for the sake of forty."

Then Abraham pressed his request further. "Suppose there are only forty?" And the LORD replied, "I will not destroy it if there are forty."

He said, "Master, don't be irritated with me, but what if only thirty are found?No, I won't do it if I find thirty."

Gen.18.30

Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?" He answered, "I will not do it if I find thirty there."

Gen.18.30

Then he said, "Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Suppose thirty should be found there?" So He said, "I will not do it if I find thirty there."

"Please don't be angry, my Lord," Abraham pleaded. "Let me speak--suppose only thirty are found?" And the LORD replied, "I will not destroy it if there are thirty."

Gen.18.31

He pushed on, "I know I'm trying your patience, Master, but how about for twenty?I won't destroy it for twenty."

Gen.18.31

Abraham said, "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?" He said, "For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it."

Gen.18.31

And he said, "Indeed now, I have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord: Suppose twenty should be found there?" So He said, "I will not destroy it for the sake of twenty."

Then Abraham said, "Since I have dared to speak to the Lord, let me continue--suppose there are only twenty?" And the LORD said, "Then I will not destroy it for the sake of the twenty."

Gen.18.32

He wouldn't quit, "Don't get angry, Master--this is the last time. What if you only come up with ten?For the sake of only ten, I won't destroy the city."

Gen.18.32

Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?" He answered, "For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it."

Gen.18.32

Then he said, "Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?" And He said, "I will not destroy it for the sake of ten."

Finally, Abraham said, "Lord, please do not get angry; I will speak but once more! Suppose only ten are found there?" And the LORD said, "Then, for the sake of the ten, I will not destroy it."

Gen.18.33

When GOD finished talking with Abraham, he left. And Abraham went home.

When the LORD had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home.

Gen.18.33

So the LORD went His way as soon as He had finished speaking with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.

The LORD went on his way when he had finished his conversation with Abraham, and Abraham returned to his tent.
