Pharaoh's princes raved over her to Pharaoh. She was taken to live with Pharaoh.

Because of her, Abram got along very well: he accumulated sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, men and women servants, and camels.

So Pharaoh summoned Abram. "What have you done to me?" he said. "Why didn't you tell me she was your wife?

Why did you say, "She's my sister' so that I'd take her as my wife? Here's your wife back--take her and get out!"

Pharaoh ordered his men to get Abram out of the country. They sent him and his wife and everything he owned on their way.

Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have fighting between us, between your shepherds and my shepherds. After all, we're family.

So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers.

So Abram said to Lot, "Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren.

Then Abram talked it over with Lot. "This arguing between our herdsmen has got to stop," he said. "After all, we are close relatives!

Look around. Isn't there plenty of land out there? Let's separate. If you go left, I'll go right; if you go right, I'll go left."

Is not the whole land before you? Let's part company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right; if you go to the right, I'll go to the left."

Lot looked. He saw the whole plain of the Jordan spread out, well watered (this was before GOD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah), like GOD's garden, like Egypt, and stretching all the way to Zoar.

Lot took a long look at the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley in the direction of Zoar. The whole area was well watered everywhere, like the garden of the LORD or the beautiful land of Egypt. (This was before the LORD had destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

Lot took the whole plain of the Jordan. Lot set out to the east. That's how they came to part company, uncle and nephew.

So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company:

Lot chose that land for himself--the Jordan Valley to the east of them. He went there with his flocks and servants and parted company with his uncle Abram.

But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the LORD.

The people of this area were unusually wicked and sinned greatly against the LORD.

Gen.13.14

After Lot separated from him, GOD said to Abram, "Open your eyes, look around. Look north, south, east, and west.

The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west.

And the LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: "Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are--northward, southward, eastward, and westward;

After Lot was gone, the LORD said to Abram, "Look as far as you can see in every direction.

Everything you see, the whole land spread out before you, I will give to you and your children forever.

All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.

for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.

I am going to give all this land to you and your offspring as a permanent possession.

I'll make your descendants like dust--counting your descendants will be as impossible as counting the dust of the Earth.

I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.

And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered.

And I am going to give you so many descendants that, like dust, they cannot be counted!

So--on your feet, get moving! Walk through the country, its length and breadth; I'm giving it all to you."

Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you."

Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you."

Take a walk in every direction and explore the new possessions I am giving you."

Abram moved his tent. He went and settled by the Oaks of Mamre in Hebron. There he built an altar to GOD. [JC]

So Abram moved his tents and went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he built an altar to the LORD.

Then Abram moved his tent, and went and dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to the LORD.

Then Abram moved his camp to the oak grove owned by Mamre, which is at Hebron. There he built an altar to the LORD.
