"See what I've done; I've personally chosen Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur of the tribe of Judah.

"See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,

"See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.

"Look, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.

I've filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him skill and know-how and expertise in every kind of craft

and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts-

Exod.31.3

And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, intelligence, and skill in all kinds of crafts.

to create designs and work in gold, silver, and bronze;

to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze,

to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze,

He is able to create beautiful objects from gold, silver, and bronze.

to cut and set gemstones; to carve wood--he's an all-around craftsman.

to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship.

in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.

He is skilled in cutting and setting gemstones and in carving wood. Yes, he is a master at every craft!

"Not only that, but I've given him Oholiab, son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan, to work with him. And to all who have an aptitude for crafts I've given the skills to make all the things I've commanded you:

Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given skill to all the craftsmen to make everything I have commanded you:

"And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you:

"And I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to be his assistant. Moreover, I have given special skill to all the naturally talented craftsmen so they can make all the things I have instructed you to make:

the Table and its implements, the pure Lampstand and all its implements, the Altar of Incense,

and also the woven garments, both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests,

the garments of ministry, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests,

the beautifully stitched, holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to wear as they minister as priests;

Exod.31.11

the anointing oil, and the aromatic incense for the Holy Place--they'll make everything just the way I've commanded you."

and the anointing oil and fragrant incense for the Holy Place. They are to make them just as I commanded you."

and the anointing oil and sweet incense for the holy place. According to all that I have commanded you they shall do."

GOD spoke to Moses:

Then the LORD said to Moses,

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

The LORD then gave these further instructions to Moses:

"Tell the Israelites, "Above all, keep my Sabbaths, the sign between me and you, generation after generation, to keep the knowledge alive that I am the GOD who makes you holy.

"Say to the Israelites, 'You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy.

"Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: "Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you.

"Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you forever. It helps you to remember that I am the LORD, who makes you holy.

Exod.31.14

Keep the Sabbath; it's holy to you. Whoever profanes it will most certainly be put to death. Whoever works on it will be excommunicated from the people.

"'Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death; whoever does any work on that day must be cut off from his people.

You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people.

Yes, keep the Sabbath day, for it is holy. Anyone who desecrates it must die; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community.

There are six days for work but the seventh day is Sabbath, pure rest, holy to GOD. Anyone who works on the Sabbath will most certainly be put to death.

For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.

The Israelites will keep the Sabbath, observe Sabbath-keeping down through the generations, as a standing covenant.

Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.

It's a fixed sign between me and the Israelites. Yes, because in six days GOD made the Heavens and the Earth and on the seventh day he stopped and took a long, deep breath.'"

It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested.'"

It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed."'

It is a permanent sign of my covenant with them. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, but he rested on the seventh day and was refreshed."

When he finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, he gave Moses two tablets of Testimony, slabs of stone, written with the finger of God.

When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.

And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

Then as the LORD finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, written by the finger of God.

When the people realized that Moses was taking forever in coming down off the mountain, they rallied around Aaron and said, "Do something. Make gods for us who will lead us. That Moses, the man who got us out of Egypt--who knows what's happened to him?"

When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."

Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, "Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him."

When Moses failed to come back down the mountain right away, the people went to Aaron. "Look," they said, "make us some gods who can lead us. This man Moses, who brought us here from Egypt, has disappeared. We don't know what has happened to him."

So Aaron told them, "Take off the gold rings from the ears of your wives and sons and daughters and bring them to me."

Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me."

And Aaron said to them, "Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me."

So Aaron said, "Tell your wives and sons and daughters to take off their gold earrings, and then bring them to me."

They all did it; they removed the gold rings from their ears and brought them to Aaron.

So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.

So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.

All the people obeyed Aaron and brought him their gold earrings.

He took the gold from their hands and cast it in the form of a calf, shaping it with an engraving tool. The people responded with enthusiasm: "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up from Egypt!"

He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."

And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf. Then they said, "This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!"

Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded and tooled it into the shape of a calf. The people exclaimed, "O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of Egypt!"

Aaron, taking in the situation, built an altar before the calf. Aaron then announced, "Tomorrow is a feast day to GOD!"

When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD."

So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, "Tomorrow is a feast to the LORD."

When Aaron saw how excited the people were about it, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD!"

Early the next morning, the people got up and offered Whole-Burnt-Offerings and brought Peace-Offerings. The people sat down to eat and drink and then began to party. It turned into a wild party!

So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.

Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

So the people got up early the next morning to sacrifice burnt offerings and peace offerings. After this, they celebrated with feasting and drinking, and indulged themselves in pagan revelry.

GOD spoke to Moses, "Go! Get down there! Your people whom you brought up from the land of Egypt have fallen to pieces.

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt.

Exod.32.7

And the LORD said to Moses, "Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves.

Exod.32.7

Then the LORD told Moses, "Quick! Go down the mountain! The people you brought from Egypt have defiled themselves.

Exod.32.8

In no time at all they've turned away from the way I commanded them: They made a molten calf and worshiped it. They've sacrificed to it and said, "These are the gods, O Israel, that brought you up from the land of Egypt!'"

They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, 'These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.'

They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, "This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!"'

They have already turned from the way I commanded them to live. They have made an idol shaped like a calf, and they have worshiped and sacrificed to it. They are saying, `These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you out of Egypt.'"

GOD said to Moses, "I look at this people--oh! what a stubborn, hard-headed people!

"I have seen these people," the LORD said to Moses, "and they are a stiff-necked people.

Exod.32.9

And the LORD said to Moses, "I have seen this people, and indeed it is a stiff-necked people!

Exod.32.9

Then the LORD said, "I have seen how stubborn and rebellious these people are.

Exod.32.10

Let me alone now, give my anger free reign to burst into flames and incinerate them. But I'll make a great nation out of you."

Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation."

Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them. And I will make of you a great nation."

Now leave me alone so my anger can blaze against them and destroy them all. Then I will make you, Moses, into a great nation instead of them."

Exod.32.11

Moses tried to calm his GOD down. He said, "Why, GOD, would you lose your temper with your people? Why, you brought them out of Egypt in a tremendous demonstration of power and strength.

But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God. "O LORD," he said, "why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?

Then Moses pleaded with the LORD his God, and said: "LORD, why does Your wrath burn hot against Your people whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?

Exod.32.11

But Moses pleaded with the LORD his God not to do it. "O LORD!" he exclaimed. "Why are you so angry with your own people whom you brought from the land of Egypt with such great power and mighty acts?

Why let the Egyptians say, "He had it in for them--he brought them out so he could kill them in the mountains, wipe them right off the face of the Earth.' Stop your anger. Think twice about bringing evil against your people!

Why should the Egyptians say, 'It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth'? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people.

Why should the Egyptians speak, and say, "He brought them out to harm them, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth'? Turn from Your fierce wrath, and relent from this harm to Your people.

Exod.32.12

The Egyptians will say, `God tricked them into coming to the mountains so he could kill them and wipe them from the face of the earth.' Turn away from your fierce anger. Change your mind about this terrible disaster you are planning against your people!

Think of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants to whom you gave your word, telling them "I will give you many children, as many as the stars in the sky, and I'll give this land to your children as their land forever.'"

Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: 'I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.'"

Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You swore by Your own self, and said to them, "I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven; and all this land that I have spoken of I give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever."'

Remember your covenant with your servants--Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You swore by your own self, `I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars of heaven. Yes, I will give them all of this land that I have promised to your descendants, and they will possess it forever.'"

And GOD did think twice. He decided not to do the evil he had threatened against his people.

Then the LORD relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

So the LORD relented from the harm which He said He would do to His people.

So the LORD withdrew his threat and didn't bring against his people the disaster he had threatened.

Moses turned around and came down from the mountain, carrying the two tablets of The Testimony. The tablets were written on both sides, front and back.

Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands. They were inscribed on both sides, front and back.

And Moses turned and went down from the mountain, and the two tablets of the Testimony were in his hand. The tablets were written on both sides; on the one side and on the other they were written.

Then Moses turned and went down the mountain. He held in his hands the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant. They were inscribed on both sides, front and back.

God made the tablets and God wrote the tablets--engraved them.

The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.

These stone tablets were God's work; the words on them were written by God himself.

When Joshua heard the sound of the people shouting noisily, he said to Moses, "That's the sound of war in the camp!"

But Moses said, Those aren't songs of victory, And those aren't songs of defeat, I hear songs of people throwing a party.

Moses replied: "It is not the sound of victory, it is not the sound of defeat; it is the sound of singing that I hear."

But he said: "It is not the noise of the shout of victory, Nor the noise of the cry of defeat, But the sound of singing I hear."

But Moses replied, "No, it's neither a cry of victory nor a cry of defeat. It is the sound of a celebration."

And that's what it was. When Moses came near to the camp and saw the calf and the people dancing, his anger flared. He threw down the tablets and smashed them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.

He took the calf that they had made, melted it down with fire, pulverized it to powder, then scattered it on the water and made the Israelites drink it.

After that, he turned to Aaron. "What did the people do to you?" he demanded. "How did they ever make you bring such terrible sin upon them?"

Aaron said, "Master, don't be angry. You know this people and how set on evil they are.

"Do not be angry, my lord," Aaron answered. "You know how prone these people are to evil.

So Aaron said, "Do not let the anger of my lord become hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.

"Don't get upset, sir," Aaron replied. "You yourself know these people and what a wicked bunch they are.

They said to me, "Make us gods who will lead us. This Moses, the man who brought us out of Egypt, we don't know what's happened to him.'

They said to me, 'Make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him.'

For they said to me, "Make us gods that shall go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.'

They said to me, `Make us some gods to lead us, for something has happened to this man Moses, who led us out of Egypt.'

"So I said, "Who has gold?' And they took off their jewelry and gave it to me. I threw it in the fire and out came this calf."

So I told them, 'Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.' Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!"

And I said to them, "Whoever has any gold, let them break it off.' So they gave it to me, and I cast it into the fire, and this calf came out."

So I told them, `Bring me your gold earrings.' When they brought them to me, I threw them into the fire--and out came this calf!"

Moses saw that the people were simply running wild--Aaron had let them run wild, disgracing themselves before their enemies.

Now when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained (for Aaron had not restrained them, to their shame among their enemies),

He took up a position at the entrance to the camp and said, "Whoever is on GOD's side, join me!" All the Levites stepped up.

So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, "Whoever is for the LORD, come to me." And all the Levites rallied to him.

then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, "Whoever is on the LORD's side--come to me!" And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.

he stood at the entrance to the camp and shouted, "All of you who are on the LORD's side, come over here and join me." And all the Levites came.

He then told them, "GOD's orders, the God of Israel: "Strap on your swords and go to work. Crisscross the camp from one end to the other: Kill brother, friend, neighbor.'"

Then he said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.'"

And he said to them, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel: "Let every man put his sword on his side, and go in and out from entrance to entrance throughout the camp, and let every man kill his brother, every man his companion, and every man his neighbor."'

He told them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Strap on your swords! Go back and forth from one end of the camp to the other, killing even your brothers, friends, and neighbors."

The Levites carried out Moses' orders. Three thousand of the people were killed that day.

The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died.

So the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And about three thousand men of the people fell that day.

Moses said, "You confirmed your ordination today--and at great cost, even killing your sons and brothers! And God has blessed you."

Then Moses said, "You have been set apart to the LORD today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day."

Then Moses said, "Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, that He may bestow on you a blessing this day, for every man has opposed his son and his brother."

Then Moses told the Levites, "Today you have been ordained for the service of the LORD, for you obeyed him even though it meant killing your own sons and brothers. Because of this, he will now give you a great blessing."

The next day Moses addressed the people: "You have sinned an enormous sin! But I am going to go up to GOD; maybe I'll be able to clear you of your sin."

Moses went back to GOD and said, "This is terrible. This people has sinned--it's an enormous sin! They made gods of gold for themselves.

So Moses went back to the LORD and said, "Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold.

Then Moses returned to the LORD and said, "Oh, these people have committed a great sin, and have made for themselves a god of gold!

And now, if you will only forgive their sin.... But if not, erase me out of the book you've written."

GOD said to Moses, "I'll only erase from my book those who sin against me.

GOD said to Moses: "Now go. Get on your way from here, you and the people you brought up from the land of Egypt. Head for the land which I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying "I will give it to your descendants.'

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, 'I will give it to your descendants.'

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Depart and go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, "To your descendants I will give it.'

The LORD said to Moses, "Now that you have brought these people out of Egypt, lead them to the land I solemnly promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I told them long ago that I would give this land to their descendants.

I will send an angel ahead of you and I'll drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.

GOD said to Moses, "Tell the Israelites, "You're one hard-headed people. I couldn't stand being with you for even a moment--I'd destroy you. So take off all your jewelry until I figure out what to do with you.'"

For the LORD had said to Moses, "Tell the Israelites, 'You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go with you even for a moment, I might destroy you. Now take off your ornaments and I will decide what to do with you.'"

For the LORD had said to Moses, "Say to the children of Israel, "You are a stiff-necked people. I could come up into your midst in one moment and consume you. Now therefore, take off your ornaments, that I may know what to do to you."'

For the LORD had told Moses to tell them, "You are an unruly, stubborn people. If I were there among you for even a moment, I would destroy you. Remove your jewelry and ornaments until I decide what to do with you."
