And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.

So with everyone in Israel gathered and listening, Moses taught them the words of this song, from start to finish.

Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

Listen, Heavens, I have something to tell you. Attention, Earth, I've got a mouth full of words.

1 "Listen, O heavens, and I will speak! Hear, O earth, the words that I say!

Deut.32.2

My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

My teaching, let it fall like a gentle rain, my words arrive like morning dew, Like a sprinkling rain on new grass, like spring showers on the garden.

Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.

Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As raindrops on the tender herb, And as showers on the grass.

My teaching will fall on you like rain; my speech will settle like dew. My words will fall like rain on tender grass, like gentle showers on young plants.

Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.

For it's GOD's Name I'm preaching--respond to the greatness of our God!

I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!

For I proclaim the name of the LORD: Ascribe greatness to our God.

I will proclaim the name of the LORD; how glorious is our God!

Deut.32.4

He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

Deut.32.4

The Rock: His works are perfect, and the way he works is fair and just; A God you can depend upon, no exceptions, a straight-arrow God.

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.

They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation.

His messed-up, mixed-up children, his non-children, throw mud at him but none of it sticks.

They have acted corruptly toward him; to their shame they are no longer his children, but a warped and crooked generation.

"They have corrupted themselves; They are not His children, Because of their blemish: A perverse and crooked generation.

"But they have acted corruptly toward him; when they act like that, are they really his children? They are a deceitful and twisted generation.

Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?

Don't you realize it is GOD you are treating like this? This is crazy; don't you have any sense of reverence? Isn't this your father who created you, who made you and gave you a place on Earth?

Is this the way you repay the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is he not your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you?

Deut.32.6

Do you thus deal with the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, who bought you? Has He not made you and established you?

Deut.32.6

Is this the way you repay the LORD, you foolish and senseless people? Isn't he your Father who created you? Has he not made you and established you?

Deut.32.7

Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.

Read up on what happened before you were born; dig into the past, understand your roots. Ask your parents what it was like before you were born; ask the old-ones, they'll tell you a thing or two.

Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.

When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

When the High God gave the nations their stake, gave them their place on Earth, He put each of the peoples within boundaries under the care of divine guardians.

When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided all mankind, he set up boundaries for the peoples according to the number of the sons of Israel.

When the Most High divided their inheritance to the nations, When He separated the sons of Adam, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the children of Israel.

When the Most High assigned lands to the nations, when he divided up the human race, he established the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of angelic beings.

For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

But GOD himself took charge of his people, took Jacob on as his personal concern.

For the LORD's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance.

For the people of Israel belong to the LORD; Jacob is his special possession.

He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

He found him out in the wilderness, in an empty, windswept wasteland. He threw his arms around him, lavished attention on him, guarding him as the apple of his eye.

"He found him in a desert land And in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.

"He found them in a desert land, in an empty, howling wasteland. He surrounded them and watched over them; he guarded them as his most precious possession.

As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:

He was like an eagle hovering over its nest, overshadowing its young, Then spreading its wings, lifting them into the air, teaching them to fly.

like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.

As an eagle stirs up its nest, Hovers over its young, Spreading out its wings, taking them up, Carrying them on its wings,

Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over her young, so he spread his wings to take them in and carried them aloft on his pinions.

So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.

GOD lifted him on to the hilltops, so he could feast on the crops in the fields. He fed him honey from the rock, oil from granite crags,

He made him ride on the heights of the land and fed him with the fruit of the fields. He nourished him with honey from the rock, and with oil from the flinty crag,

"He made him ride in the heights of the earth, That he might eat the produce of the fields; He made him draw honey from the rock, And oil from the flinty rock;

He made them ride over the highlands; he let them feast on the crops of the fields. He nourished them with honey from the cliffs, with olive oil from the hard rock.

Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.

Curds of cattle and the milk of sheep, the choice cuts of lambs and goats, Fine Bashan rams, high-quality wheat, and the blood of grapes: you drank good wine!

with curds and milk from herd and flock and with fattened lambs and goats, with choice rams of Bashan and the finest kernels of wheat. You drank the foaming blood of the grape.

Curds from the cattle, and milk of the flock, With fat of lambs; And rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, With the choicest wheat; And you drank wine, the blood of the grapes.

He fed them curds from the herd and milk from the flock, together with the fat of lambs and goats. He gave them choice rams and goats from Bashan, together with the choicest wheat. You drank the finest wine, made from the juice of grapes.

But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

Jeshurun put on weight and bucked; you got fat, became obese, a tub of lard. He abandoned the God who made him, he mocked the Rock of his salvation.

Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; filled with food, he became heavy and sleek. He abandoned the God who made him and rejected the Rock his Savior.

"But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; You grew fat, you grew thick, You are obese! Then he forsook God who made him, And scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

But Israel soon became fat and unruly; the people grew heavy, plump, and stuffed! Then they abandoned the God who had made them; they made light of the Rock of their salvation.

They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

Deut.32.16

They made him jealous with their foreign newfangled gods, and with obscenities they vexed him no end.

They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols.

They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods; With abominations they provoked Him to anger.

They stirred up his jealousy by worshiping foreign gods; they provoked his fury with detestable acts.

They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

They sacrificed to no-god demons, gods they knew nothing about, The latest in gods, fresh from the market, gods your ancestors would never call "gods."

They sacrificed to demons, which are not God- gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your fathers did not fear.

They sacrificed to demons, not to God, To gods they did not know, To new gods, new arrivals That your fathers did not fear.

They offered sacrifices to demons, non-gods, to gods they had not known before, to gods only recently arrived, to gods their ancestors had never feared.

Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

You walked out on the Rock who gave you your life, forgot the birth-God who brought you into the world.

You deserted the Rock, who fathered you; you forgot the God who gave you birth.

Deut.32.18

Of the Rock who begot you, you are unmindful, And have forgotten the God who fathered you.

Deut.32.18

You neglected the Rock who had fathered you; you forgot the God who had given you birth.

Deut.32.19

And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.

GOD saw it and turned on his heel, angered and hurt by his sons and daughters.

The LORD saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his sons and daughters.

"And when the LORD saw it, He spurned them, Because of the provocation of His sons and His daughters.

"The LORD saw this and was filled with loathing. He was provoked to anger by his own sons and daughters.

Deut.32.20

And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.

Deut.32.20

He said, "From now on I'm looking the other way. Wait and see what happens to them. Oh, they're a turned-around, upside-down generation! Who knows what they'll do from one moment to the next?

"I will hide my face from them," he said, "and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful.

And He said: "I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end will be, For they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faith.

Deut.32.20

He said, `I will abandon them; I will see to their end! For they are a twisted generation, children without integrity.

Deut.32.21

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

They've goaded me with their no-gods, infuriated me with their hot-air gods; I'm going to goad them with a no-people, with a hollow nation incense them.

They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding.

They have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not God; They have moved Me to anger by their foolish idols. But I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation; I will move them to anger by a foolish nation.

They have roused my jealousy by worshiping non-gods; they have provoked my fury with useless idols. Now I will rouse their jealousy by blessing other nations; I will provoke their fury by blessing the foolish Gentiles.

For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

My anger started a fire, a wildfire burning deep down in Sheol, Then shooting up and devouring the Earth and its crops, setting all the mountains, from bottom to top, on fire.

For a fire has been kindled by my wrath, one that burns to the realm of death below. It will devour the earth and its harvests and set afire the foundations of the mountains.

For a fire is kindled in My anger, And shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, And set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

For my anger blazes forth like fire and burns to the depths of the grave. It devours the earth and all its crops and ignites the foundations of the mountains.

I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.

I'll pile catastrophes on them, I'll shoot my arrows at them:

"I will heap calamities upon them and spend my arrows against them.

"I will heap disasters on them; I will spend My arrows on them.

I will heap disasters upon them and shoot them down with my arrows.

Deut.32.24

They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

Starvation, blistering heat, killing disease; I'll send snarling wild animals to attack from the forest and venomous creatures to strike from the dust.

I will send wasting famine against them, consuming pestilence and deadly plague; I will send against them the fangs of wild beasts, the venom of vipers that glide in the dust.

They shall be wasted with hunger, Devoured by pestilence and bitter destruction; I will also send against them the teeth of beasts, With the poison of serpents of the dust.

I will send against them wasting famine, burning fever, and deadly disease. They will be troubled by the fangs of wild beasts, by poisonous snakes that glide in the dust.

Deut.32.25

The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.

Deut.32.25

Killing in the streets, terror in the houses, Young men and virgins alike struck down, and yes, breast-feeding babies and gray-haired old men."

In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. Young men and young women will perish, infants and gray-haired men.

The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within For the young man and virgin, The nursing child with the man of gray hairs.

Outside, the sword will bring death, and inside, terror will strike both young men and young women, both infants and the aged.

I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

I could have said, "I'll hack them to pieces, wipe out all trace of them from the Earth,"

I said I would scatter them and blot out their memory from mankind,

Deut.32.26

I would have said, "I will dash them in pieces, I will make the memory of them to cease from among men,"

Deut.32.26

I decided to scatter them, so even the memory of them would disappear.

Deut.32.27

Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD hath not done all this.

Except that I feared the enemy would grab the chance to take credit for all of it, Crowing, "Look what we did! GOD had nothing to do with this."

but I dreaded the taunt of the enemy, lest the adversary misunderstand and say, 'Our hand has triumphed; the LORD has not done all this.'"

Had I not feared the wrath of the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misunderstand, Lest they should say, "Our hand is high; And it is not the LORD who has done all this."'

But I feared the taunt of the enemy, that their adversaries might misunderstand and say, "Our power has triumphed! It was not the LORD who did this!"'

For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.

They are a nation of ninnies, they don't know enough to come in out of the rain.

Deut.32.28

They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them.

Deut.32.28

"For they are a nation void of counsel, Nor is there any understanding in them.

"Israel is a nation that lacks sense; the people are foolish, without understanding.

O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!

Deut.32.29

If they had any sense at all, they'd know this; they would see what's coming down the road.

If only they were wise and would understand this and discern what their end will be!

Deut.32.29

Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, That they would consider their latter end!

Oh, that they were wise and could understand this! Oh, that they might know their fate!

How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?

How could one soldier chase a thousand enemies off, or two men run off two thousand, Unless their Rock had sold them, unless GOD had given them away?

How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?

How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the LORD had surrendered them?

How could one person chase a thousand of them, and two people put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?

For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

For their rock is nothing compared to our Rock; even our enemies say that.

For their rock is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede.

For their rock is not like our Rock, Even our enemies themselves being judges.

But the rock of our enemies is not like our Rock, as even they recognize.

For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:

They're a vine that comes right out of Sodom, who they are is rooted in Gomorrah; Their grapes are poison grapes, their grape-clusters bitter.

Their vine comes from the vine of Sodom and from the fields of Gomorrah. Their grapes are filled with poison, and their clusters with bitterness.

For their vine is of the vine of Sodom And of the fields of Gomorrah; Their grapes are grapes of gall, Their clusters are bitter.

Their vine grows from the vine of Sodom, from the vineyards of Gomorrah. Their grapes are poison, and their clusters are bitter.

Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

Their wine is rattlesnake venom, mixed with lethal cobra poison.

Their wine is the venom of serpents, the deadly poison of cobras.

Their wine is the poison of serpents, And the cruel venom of cobras.

Their wine is the venom of snakes, the deadly poison of vipers.

Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?

Don't you realize that I have my shelves well stocked, locked behind iron doors?

"Have I not kept this in reserve and sealed it in my vaults?

"Is this not laid up in store with Me, Sealed up among My treasures?

"`I am storing up these things, sealing them away within my treasury.

Deut.32.35

To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.

Deut.32.35

I'm in charge of vengeance and payback, just waiting for them to slip up; And the day of their doom is just around the corner, sudden and swift and sure.

Deut.32.35

It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them."

Deut.32.35

Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them.'

I will take vengeance; I will repay those who deserve it. In due time their feet will slip. Their day of disaster will arrive, and their destiny will overtake them.'

For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.

Yes, GOD will judge his people, but oh how compassionately he'll do it. When he sees their weakened plight and there is no one left, slave or free,

The LORD will judge his people and have compassion on his servants when he sees their strength is gone and no one is left, slave or free.

"For the LORD will judge His people And have compassion on His servants, When He sees that their power is gone, And there is no one remaining, bond or free.

"Indeed, the LORD will judge his people, and he will change his mind about his servants, when he sees their strength is gone and no one is left, slave or free.

Deut.32.37

And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,

Deut.32.37

He'll say, "So where are their gods, the rock in which they sought refuge,

Deut.32.37

He will say: "Now where are their gods, the rock they took refuge in,

Deut.32.37

He will say: "Where are their gods, The rock in which they sought refuge?

Deut.32.37

Then he will ask, `Where are their gods, the rocks they fled to for refuge?

Deut.32.38

Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.

The gods who feasted on the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink-offerings? Let them show their stuff and help you, let them give you a hand!

See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

"Do you see it now? Do you see that I'm the one? Do you see that there's no other god beside me? I bring death and I give life, I wound and I heal--there is no getting away from or around me!

For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.

If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.

When I sharpen my lightning sword and execute judgment, I take vengeance on my enemies and pay back those who hate me.

Yes. This is no small matter for you; it's your life. In keeping this word you'll have a good and long life in this land that you're crossing the Jordan to possess."

"This is because you broke faith with me in the company of the People of Israel at the Waters of Meribah Kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin--you didn't honor my Holy Presence in the company of the People of Israel.

This is because both of you broke faith with me in the presence of the Israelites at the waters of Meribah Kadesh in the Desert of Zin and because you did not uphold my holiness among the Israelites.

because you trespassed against Me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the Wilderness of Zin, because you did not hallow Me in the midst of the children of Israel.

For both of you broke faith with me among the Israelites at the waters of Meribah at Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin. You failed to demonstrate my holiness to the people of Israel there.

Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.

You'll look at the land spread out before you but you won't enter it, this land that I am giving to the People of Israel."
