I, Paul, together with Silas and Timothy, greet the church of the Thessalonian Christians in the name of God our Father and our Master, Jesus Christ.

This letter is from Paul, Silas, and Timothy. It is written to the church in Thessalonica, you who belong to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our God gives you everything you need, makes you everything you're to be.

You need to know, friends, that thanking God over and over for you is not only a pleasure; it's a must. We have to do it. Your faith is growing phenomenally; your love for each other is developing wonderfully. Why, it's only right that we give thanks.

We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other,

Dear brothers and sisters, we always thank God for you, as is right, for we are thankful that your faith is flourishing and you are all growing in love for each other.

We're so proud of you; you're so steady and determined in your faith despite all the hard times that have come down on you. We tell everyone we meet in the churches all about you.

Therefore, among God's churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.

so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure,

We proudly tell God's other churches about your endurance and faithfulness in all the persecutions and hardships you are suffering.

All this trouble is a clear sign that God has decided to make you fit for the kingdom. You're suffering now,

All this is evidence that God's judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.

which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer;

But God will use this persecution to show his justice. For he will make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering,

but justice is on the way. When the Master Jesus appears out of heaven in a blaze of fire with his strong angels, he'll even up the score by settling accounts with those who gave you such a bad time.

God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you

since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you,

and in his justice he will punish those who persecute you.

His coming will be the break we've been waiting for.

and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.

and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,

And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with his mighty angels,

Those who refuse to know God and refuse to obey the Message will pay for what they've done.

He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don't know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus.

Eternal exile from the presence of the Master and his splendid power is their sentence.

But on that very same day when he comes, he will be exalted by his followers and celebrated by all who believe--and all because you believed what we told you.

on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.

when he comes to receive glory and praise from his holy people. And you will be among those praising him on that day, for you believed what we testified about him.

Because we know that this extraordinary day is just ahead, we pray for you all the time--pray that our God will make you fit for what he's called you to be, pray that he'll fill your good ideas and acts of faith with his own energy so that it all amounts to something.

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.

Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power,

And so we keep on praying for you, that our God will make you worthy of the life to which he called you. And we pray that God, by his power, will fulfill all your good intentions and faithful deeds.

If your life honors the name of Jesus, he will honor you. Grace is behind and through all of this, our God giving himself freely, the Master, Jesus Christ, giving himself freely.
