2Sam.7-2Sam.8

2Sam.7.1

And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

2Sam.7.1

Before long, the king made himself at home and GOD gave him peace from all his enemies.

2Sam.7.1

After the king was settled in his palace and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies around him,

2Sam.7.1

Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house, and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies all around,

2Sam.7.1

When the LORD had brought peace to the land and King David was settled in his palace,

2Sam.7.2

That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

2Sam.7.2

Then one day King David said to Nathan the prophet, "Look at this: Here I am, comfortable in a luxurious house of cedar, and the Chest of God sits in a plain tent."

2Sam.7.2

he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am, living in a palace of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent."

2Sam.7.2

that the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains."

2Sam.7.2

David summoned Nathan the prophet. "Look!" David said. "Here I am living in this beautiful cedar palace, but the Ark of God is out in a tent!"

2Sam.7.3

And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.

2Sam.7.3

Nathan told the king, "Whatever is on your heart, go and do it. GOD is with you."

2Sam.7.3

Nathan replied to the king, "Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the LORD is with you."

2Sam.7.3

Then Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart, for the LORD is with you."

2Sam.7.3

Nathan replied, "Go ahead and do what you have in mind, for the LORD is with you."

2Sam.7.4

And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,

2Sam.7.4

But that night, the word of GOD came to Nathan saying,

2Sam.7.4

That night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying:

2Sam.7.4

But it happened that night that the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying,

2Sam.7.4

But that same night the LORD said to Nathan,

2Sam.7.5

Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

2Sam.7.5

"Go and tell my servant David: This is GOD's word on the matter: You're going to build a "house' for me to live in?

2Sam.7.5

"Go and tell my servant David, 'This is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build me a house to dwell in?

2Sam.7.5

"Go and tell My servant David, "Thus says the LORD: "Would you build a house for Me to dwell in?

2Sam.7.5

"Go and tell my servant David, `This is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build me a temple to live in?

2Sam.7.6

Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

2Sam.7.6

Why, I haven't lived in a "house' from the time I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt till now. All that time I've moved about with nothing but a tent.

2Sam.7.6

I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling.

2Sam.7.6

For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt, even to this day, but have moved about in a tent and in a tabernacle.

2Sam.7.6

I have never lived in a temple, from the day I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until now. My home has always been a tent, moving from one place to another.

2Sam.7.7

In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?

2Sam.7.7

And in all my travels with Israel, did I ever say to any of the leaders I commanded to shepherd Israel, "Why haven't you built me a house of cedar?'

2Sam.7.7

Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?"'

2Sam.7.7

Wherever I have moved about with all the children of Israel, have I ever spoken a word to anyone from the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, "Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?""

2Sam.7.7

And I have never once complained to Israel's leaders, the shepherds of my people Israel. I have never asked them, "Why haven't you built me a beautiful cedar temple?"'

2Sam.7.8

Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

2Sam.7.8

"So here is what you are to tell my servant David: The GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies has this word for you: I took you from the pasture, tagging along after sheep, and made you prince over my people Israel.

2Sam.7.8

"Now then, tell my servant David, 'This is what the LORD Almighty says: I took you from the pasture and from following the flock to be ruler over my people Israel.

2Sam.7.8

Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, "Thus says the LORD of hosts: "I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.

2Sam.7.8

"Now go and say to my servant David, `This is what the LORD Almighty says: I chose you to lead my people Israel when you were just a shepherd boy, tending your sheep out in the pasture.

2Sam.7.9

And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

2Sam.7.9

I was with you everywhere you went and mowed your enemies down before you. Now I'm making you famous, to be ranked with the great names on earth.

2Sam.7.9

I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men of the earth.

2Sam.7.9

And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth.

2Sam.7.9

I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have destroyed all your enemies. Now I will make your name famous throughout the earth!

2Sam.7.10

Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,

2Sam.7.10

And I'm going to set aside a place for my people Israel and plant them there so they'll have their own home and not be knocked around any more. Nor will evil men afflict you as they always have,

2Sam.7.10

And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning

2Sam.7.10

Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously,

2Sam.7.10

And I have provided a permanent homeland for my people Israel, a secure place where they will never be disturbed. It will be their own land where wicked nations won't oppress them as they did in the past,

2Sam.7.11

And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.

2Sam.7.11

even during the days I set judges over my people Israel. Finally, I'm going to give you peace from all your enemies. "Furthermore, GOD has this message for you: GOD himself will build you a house!

2Sam.7.11

and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also give you rest from all your enemies. "'The LORD declares to you that the LORD himself will establish a house for you:

2Sam.7.11

since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the LORD tells you that He will make you a house.

2Sam.7.11

from the time I appointed judges to rule my people. And I will keep you safe from all your enemies. "`And now the LORD declares that he will build a house for you--a dynasty of kings!

2Sam.7.12

And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

2Sam.7.12

When your life is complete and you're buried with your ancestors, then I'll raise up your child, your own flesh and blood, to succeed you, and I'll firmly establish his rule.

2Sam.7.12

When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom.

2Sam.7.12

"When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

2Sam.7.12

For when you die, I will raise up one of your descendants, and I will make his kingdom strong.

2Sam.7.13

He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

2Sam.7.13

He will build a house to honor me, and I will guarantee his kingdom's rule permanently.

2Sam.7.13

He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

2Sam.7.13

He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

2Sam.7.13

He is the one who will build a house--a temple--for my name. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

2Sam.7.14

I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

2Sam.7.14

I'll be a father to him, and he'll be a son to me. When he does wrong, I'll discipline him in the usual ways, the pitfalls and obstacles of this mortal life.

2Sam.7.14

I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with the rod of men, with floggings inflicted by men.

2Sam.7.14

I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.

2Sam.7.14

I will be his father, and he will be my son. If he sins, I will use other nations to punish him.

2Sam.7.15

But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

2Sam.7.15

But I'll never remove my gracious love from him, as I removed it from Saul, who preceded you and whom I most certainly did remove.

2Sam.7.15

But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you.

2Sam.7.15

But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.

2Sam.7.15

But my unfailing love will not be taken from him as I took it from Saul, whom I removed before you.

2Sam.7.16

And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

2Sam.7.16

Your family and your kingdom are permanently secured. I'm keeping my eye on them! And your royal throne will always be there, rock solid."

2Sam.7.16

Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.'"

2Sam.7.16

And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.""'

2Sam.7.16

Your dynasty and your kingdom will continue for all time before me, and your throne will be secure forever.'"

2Sam.7.17

According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

2Sam.7.17

Nathan gave David a complete and accurate account of everything he heard and saw in the vision.

2Sam.7.17

Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation.

2Sam.7.17

According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

2Sam.7.17

So Nathan went back to David and told him everything the LORD had said.

2Sam.7.18

Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

2Sam.7.18

King David went in, took his place before GOD, and prayed: "Who am I, my Master GOD, and what is my family, that you have brought me to this place in life?

2Sam.7.18

Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: "Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?

2Sam.7.18

Then King David went in and sat before the LORD; and he said: "Who am I, O Lord GOD? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

2Sam.7.18

Then King David went in and sat before the LORD and prayed, "Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?

2Sam.7.19

And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

2Sam.7.19

But that's nothing compared to what's coming, for you've also spoken of my family far into the future, given me a glimpse into tomorrow, my Master GOD!

2Sam.7.19

And as if this were not enough in your sight, O Sovereign LORD, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant. Is this your usual way of dealing with man, O Sovereign LORD?

2Sam.7.19

And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O Lord GOD; and You have also spoken of Your servant's house for a great while to come. Is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

2Sam.7.19

And now, Sovereign LORD, in addition to everything else, you speak of giving me a lasting dynasty! Do you deal with everyone this way, O Sovereign LORD?

2Sam.7.20

And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.

2Sam.7.20

What can I possibly say in the face of all this? You know me, Master GOD, just as I am.

2Sam.7.20

"What more can David say to you? For you know your servant, O Sovereign LORD.

2Sam.7.20

Now what more can David say to You? For You, Lord GOD, know Your servant.

2Sam.7.20

What more can I say? You know what I am really like, Sovereign LORD.

2Sam.7.21

For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.

2Sam.7.21

You've done all this not because of who I am but because of who you are--out of your very heart!-but you've let me in on it.

2Sam.7.21

For the sake of your word and according to your will, you have done this great thing and made it known to your servant.

2Sam.7.21

For Your word's sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all these great things, to make Your servant know them.

2Sam.7.21

For the sake of your promise and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have shown them to me.

2Sam.7.22

Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

2Sam.7.22

"This is what makes you so great, Master GOD! There is none like you, no God but you, nothing to compare with what we've heard with our own ears.

2Sam.7.22

"How great you are, O Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.

2Sam.7.22

Therefore You are great, O Lord GOD. For there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

2Sam.7.22

"How great you are, O Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you--there is no other God. We have never even heard of another god like you!

2Sam.7.23

And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

2Sam.7.23

And who is like your people, like Israel, a nation unique in the earth, whom God set out to redeem for himself (and became most famous for it), performing great and fearsome acts, throwing out nations and their gods left and right as you saved your people from Egypt?

2Sam.7.23

And who is like your people Israel-the one nation on earth that God went out to redeem as a people for himself, and to make a name for himself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations and their gods from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt?

2Sam.7.23

And who is like Your people, like Israel, the one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make for Himself a name--and to do for Yourself great and awesome deeds for Your land--before Your people whom You redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, the nations, and their gods?

2Sam.7.23

What other nation on earth is like Israel? What other nation, O God, have you redeemed from slavery to be your own people? You made a great name for yourself when you rescued your people from Egypt. You performed awesome miracles and drove out the nations and gods that stood in their way.

2Sam.7.24

For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.

2Sam.7.24

You established for yourself a people--your very own Israel!-your people permanently. And you, GOD, became their God.

2Sam.7.24

You have established your people Israel as your very own forever, and you, O LORD, have become their God.

2Sam.7.24

For You have made Your people Israel Your very own people forever; and You, LORD, have become their God.

2Sam.7.24

You made Israel your people forever, and you, O LORD, became their God.

2Sam.7.25

And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

2Sam.7.25

"So now, great GOD, this word that you have spoken to me and my family, guarantee it permanently! Do exactly what you've promised!

2Sam.7.25

"And now, LORD God, keep forever the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house. Do as you promised,

2Sam.7.25

"Now, O LORD God, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, establish it forever and do as You have said.

2Sam.7.25

"And now, O LORD God, do as you have promised concerning me and my family. Confirm it as a promise that will last forever.

2Sam.7.26

And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

2Sam.7.26

Then your reputation will flourish always as people exclaim, "The GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies is God over Israel!' And the house of your servant David will remain sure and solid in your watchful presence.

2Sam.7.26

so that your name will be great forever. Then men will say, 'The LORD Almighty is God over Israel!' And the house of your servant David will be established before you.

2Sam.7.26

So let Your name be magnified forever, saying, "The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel.' And let the house of Your servant David be established before You.

2Sam.7.26

And may your name be honored forever so that all the world will say, `The LORD Almighty is God over Israel!' And may the dynasty of your servant David be established in your presence.

2Sam.7.27

For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

2Sam.7.27

For you, GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies, Israel's God, told me plainly, "I will build you a house.' That's how I was able to find the courage to pray this prayer to you.

2Sam.7.27

"O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, you have revealed this to your servant, saying, 'I will build a house for you.' So your servant has found courage to offer you this prayer.

2Sam.7.27

For You, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant, saying, "I will build you a house.' Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray this prayer to You.

2Sam.7.27

"O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, I have been bold enough to pray this prayer because you have revealed that you will build a house for me--an eternal dynasty!

2Sam.7.28

And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

2Sam.7.28

"And now, Master GOD, being the God you are, speaking sure words as you do, and having just said this wonderful thing to me,

2Sam.7.28

O Sovereign LORD, you are God! Your words are trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.

2Sam.7.28

"And now, O Lord GOD, You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant.

2Sam.7.28

For you are God, O Sovereign LORD. Your words are truth, and you have promised these good things to me, your servant.

2Sam.7.29

Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

2Sam.7.29

please, just one more thing: Bless my family; keep your eye on them always. You've already as much as said that you would, Master GOD! Oh, may your blessing be on my family permanently!"

2Sam.7.29

Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, O Sovereign LORD, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever."

2Sam.7.29

Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord GOD, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever."

2Sam.7.29

And now, may it please you to bless me and my family so that our dynasty may continue forever before you. For when you grant a blessing to your servant, O Sovereign LORD, it is an eternal blessing!"
